No Black Belt for Me



My son and I study a Korean form of martial arts called Tang Soo Do. In most martial arts, the highest achievement is the black belt. The student begins with a white belt, and over the course of years, students move up through the color levels until they reach black belt status. A couple of months ago, we had the privilege of attending a black belt ceremony where we observed some of our classmates receive their reward for years of practice and hard work. At the ceremony, an interesting experience presented itself.

The "This Is Us" Effect



Over the last two years there has been an increased attack on the idea of godly masculinity. The idea of what masculinity is—and the need for it—has been constantly debated. The last presidential campaign highlighted this attack. Even simply not voting for former Secretary of State and U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was condemned by some as an assault against women. Since the election, extremism among many within the feminist movement has increased in strength and urgency. Many women are being taught that men are the reason for all of their problems.
