EU in Crisis?

What important prophetic events are happening right now? Where will they lead?

One "key" event occurred over this past weekend! The French people voted "no" on the proposed EU Constitution! And the Dutch are probably going to do the same thing this Wednesday. This has already caused "shock waves" to reverberate across Europe. For the proposed constitution was supposed to be the basis for a United States of Europe which would rival the United States of America in size and economic power. Now it will be "put on hold" since all 25 of the EU nations were supposed to ratify the constitution before it could come into affect.

What next?

This French "no" vote may be very significant because it throws the future of Europe into question. Yet Pope John Paul II repeatedly called for a strong European Union stretching "from the Atlantic to the Urals." But he emphasized the need for it to be solidly based upon its "Christian heritage." The proposed constitution did not do that. The bureaucrats in Brussels—those who actually "run" the EU—have been mostly secular in their approach and they even omitted placing in the constitution any reference to Christianity as part of the foundation of the new Europe!

Will that now change in a future constitution? Will the new pope—Benedict XVI—offer his help in getting the mainly Catholic nations of Europe to come together? Will the "new" EU start out with a smaller "core" group of nations which will eventually become the ten nations prophesied to come together in Revelation 17?

Jesus Christ said, "Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36).

Now, more than ever, we need to be "watching" these exciting prophetic events as they occur right under our eyes! Another related event was the new pope's very recent visit to the city of Bari, in southern Italy. What did Pope Benedict XVI "pledge" himself to do on his very first papal visit? The Associated Press on May 30^th reported the following: "Benedict pledged Sunday during his first papal trip to work to end the 1,000-year-old rift with the Orthodox church."

Wow!

The new pope has already "pledged" to bring the hundreds of millions of Orthodox Christians back into the Roman Catholic fold! If they come back, won't the millions in the Anglican communion soon follow suit? The great "mother" church will soon be rejoined by many of her "daughter" churches! The enormous influence and power of this system must not be underestimated! For it will powerfully dominate Europe and greatly impact your own life within the next ten years! Please study chapters 17 and 18 of the book of Revelation. Watch and pray!
