Oklahoma’s cattle industry Is drying up.

Comment on this article

Much of Oklahoma has had no significant rainfall in more than a year, resulting in zero crop growth.  As a consequence, there is virtually no local food for cattle and it must be imported at great cost.  Ranchers are selling entire herds that have taken a decade or more to build because they have no other choice.

In the words of one expert, ranchers are “selling their factories”—referring to the potential for future cattle production—because they see a bleak future in an industry that, in some cases, has been a family business for generations.  As entire herds are sold, if moist weather does return to Oklahoma any time soon, it would take several years to build back to productive cattle levels again (Drover’s Cattle Network, August 30, 2011).

Bible prophecies have long warned that God will punish the Israelite-descended nations if they turn away from Him.  Hosea wrote, “Therefore the land will mourn; and everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea will be taken away… because they have ceased obeying the Lord” (Hosea 4:3, 10).  Moses also conveyed God’s warning, “if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments… your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit” (Leviticus 26:14, 20).

As Israelite nations turn away from the laws of God, we are watching these ancient prophecies coming alive in headlines today!
