The Living Church of God extends its sympathy and condolences to the royal family and to the people of Jordan. We also wish Jordan's new leader, King Abdullah, God's blessings and wisdom and love in his new and challenging duties. We also urge Christians all over the world to pray for the new monarch in fulfilling his responsibilities.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan mourns the loss of its leader, His Majesty King Hussein. The king faithfully served his people for over 45 years and was considered to be like a "father to millions." The prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, described Hussein as "a great leader and a great friend, a great champion of peace."

The apostle Paul exhorted all Christians to pray for leaders and Kings. I Timothy 2:1-2, "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence."

The apostle Peter also instructs us to respect governmental authority. I Peter 2:13, "Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God..." Peter continues in verse 17, "Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king."

We pray that Almighty God, the Creator of all nations, will bless King Abdullah in serving his country and contributing to peace in the Middle East.
