A World Preparing for War

Today, more than a dozen regions on earth are embroiled in serious military conflicts. Modern battlefronts involve more than just uniformed soldiers, including increasingly sophisticated technology—such as A.I.-controlled drones and weaponry—with potential for devastating humanitarian impact. “On its own, the Second Congo War was… the deadliest conflict since World War II” (ConcernUSA.org, July 31, 2026).

Military conflicts in one region can create conflicts in others. Russia is reportedly supplying parts, ammunition, and explosives to enhance Iran’s war efforts. Apparently, it is also sharing satellite imagery and intelligence with Tehran, while carrying on a ground war against Ukraine (International Business Times, August 18, 2026). Ukrainian military intelligence reports that “North Korea reportedly deployed drone operators to Kursk Oblast to support Russia’s war in Ukraine” (Institute for the Study of War, August 21, 2026). This is in addition to the thousands of North Korean troops observed operating alongside those of Russia. The United States is at war with Iran (Global Conflict Tracker, August 26, 2026), while also carrying out military operations or security commitments involving Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Somalia. America is also providing military support to Ukraine and Israel. The Pakistan and Afghanistan border actions have also heated up, and Pakistan has declared “open war” on “Afghanistan’s Taliban government” (The Guardian, February 27, 2026).

Revelation 6:1–8 reveals four symbolic horsemen who will ride in sequence at the end of the age. The second of these horsemen is given “a great sword” to “take peace from the earth,” such that “people should kill one another” (v. 4). We are witnessing the nations of the world preparing for the prophesied conflicts to come. Distressing as this is, there is light at the end of the tunnel—yet there are prophetic milestones to be passed before that light manifests. To find out what those mile markers are, read or listen to Fourteen Signs Announcing Christ’s Return.
