Four Myths of the Apocalypse

Will there ever be peace in the Middle East? The Bible reveals that a great world war, focused on the Middle East, is on the horizon. How will you know when this event is about to occur? What prophetic signs should you be watching for?

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Uncovering Four Myths of the Apocalypse

Are you worried about the apocalypse? A lot of people are. Some even talk of “apocalypse anxiety.” That is, the feeling that the world will end, by any number of calamities, and there’s nothing we can do about it. Do you ever worry about the end of the world? The Bible reveals hard times are coming. But should we be distressed about it? Is fear of the future irrational and unnecessary? And can a clear understanding of scripture actually give us hope and encouragement?

Let’s explore this subject today and discover the truth, as we uncover four myths of the apocalypse.

Myth Number One: Apocalypse Means ‘The End of the World.’

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World. The world of entertainment is really the heartbeat of a culture. It reflects society’s values, hopes, and fears. But what does our entertainment say about us? I think most of us would agree, our entertainment says we are obsessed with the end of the world. And it’s not just in recent times. Consider H.G. Wells’ book The War of the Worlds, published back in 1897. It was read on the air on October 30, 1938, in the form of a radio drama. Some mistakenly thought it was the news report of Martians taking over New York, and it caused panic among some listeners. Since then, countless movies have been made about aliens, invasions, and the end of the world. Who can forget the gripping title of 1955’s “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” or lesser-known movies like 1962’s “Panic in Year Zero”? In more recent years, we’ve had “Armageddon,” “Independence Day,” and of course, the ever-popular “Avengers” movies. If you think the number of apocalyptic movies is increasing with each year, you’re right. In 2016, renowned author and Colgate University professor Dr. Anthony Aveni wrote a book entitled Apocalyptic Anxiety: Religion, Science, and America’s Obsession with the End of the World. In it, he explained:

“The number of apocalyptic-themed feature-length films produced since the turn of the millennium has topped totals over the four decades ending in 2000. Projected totals for 2011–2020 are expected to at least double the count for 2001–2010.” (Aveni, Apocalyptic Anxiety: Religion, Science, and America’s Obsession with the End of the World, p. 6, 2016).

Society is obsessed with the end of the world. And most of these fictions present what is called a dystopian picture of the world. That is, a future when society collapses, order disintegrates, and there is great suffering for humanity. When monsters and zombies lurk from behind every burned-out, smoking pile of rubble, waiting to terrorize desperate human survivors. You get the picture.

It’s only entertainment though, right? I mean, we don’t take these movies seriously, do we? We know they’re fiction, just a harmless two hours of fun. But stop and think: Is there some level of primal fear behind this growing genre of entertainment? And some of them don’t describe aliens coming to earth, but rather global collapse from climate change. They predict the polar ice cap will melt, CO2 levels will increase to dangerous levels, and coastal cities will be inundated. Or maybe an asteroid will crash to earth. Regardless, when you look under the surface, though it’s fiction, there’s something behind this. They are playing on the real fears of real people.

Now, it is true that horrific events will happen in our world. Jesus Himself said there will be great distress in the future. In Luke 21, verse 25 He said this:

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear....” (Luke 21:25–26).

But in the very same section, we read of a different response from people who are aware of the truth of the Bible, preparing for it, and ready. This is in Luke 21:28:

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Luke 21:28).

How can we make sure we have this mindset when these things happen? That’s why we’re talking about it today on this program. You see, if we expose the erroneous myths about the future, we can have greater confidence and peace in our lives today. Who doesn’t want that?

So, let’s look at four myths of the apocalypse, to separate truth from fiction.

Myth Number One: “Apocalypse means ‘the end of the world.’”

To most, the word “apocalypse” refers to “the end of the world.” But does the word “apocalypse” really mean that? Many of our regular viewers will know the answer, but I’ll explain it here. The last book of the Bible is called “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” The word “revelation” is just the English word translated from a Greek word, “apokalypsis.” We find “apokalypsis” used in the original Greek in the first verse of the first chapter of Revelation. Notice what it says:

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place….” (Revelation 1:1).

“Revelation” and “apokalypsis” mean the same thing: an uncovering, an unveiling, or a revealing. The word doesn’t necessarily mean a meltdown of society. So, why has the word apocalypse come to mean, in popular usage, the dramatic collapse and end of something? Well, because the Book of Revelation, or The Apocalypse, does contain a series of visions revealing sobering events to happen in the last days.

But notice the focus and purpose of the book of Revelation: to reveal. Your Savior, the Son of God, commissioned John to write down what he saw so the future would be foretold… what was hidden would be uncovered. He wanted His people to not be confused about the future, but be enlightened and encouraged by knowing the truth.

Was the Book of Revelation meant to be a message of doom? Not at all. In fact, read on in Revelation chapter 1 verse 3:

“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it....” (Revelation 1:3).

You can be blessed for reading this Book. It’s the God of Heaven and Earth talking to you. You can be blessed for listening to His message, doing what He says, and keeping the words written in it.

Maybe you’ve been confused reading the Book of Revelation. Don’t give up! You need to know what’s in this book! God had it recorded so that it would open our understanding, and give us comfort and hope.

Which is why on today’s program, we’re offering you the free study guide: Revelation: The Mystery Unveiled. Written by the late pastor and teacher John Ogwyn, it will take you step by step through a book many find difficult to understand. Chapter 1 asks the question, “Can You Know the Future?” Chapter 2 explains “Seven Keys to Understanding.” Chapter 3 details, “A Final Vision for the End of an Era.”

Myth Number 2: Christians Will Escape the Tribulation by Being Raptured

Welcome back. In the last segment of this program, we saw that the word “apocalypse” comes from a Greek word that just means an uncovering. It doesn’t necessarily mean doom for all mankind. And so, the book of Revelation, or we might say, “The Apocalypse,” was intended to open our understanding about the future. Which brings us to the second myth about the apocalypse:

Myth Number 2: Christians will escape the Tribulation by being raptured.

The Book of Revelation does speak of a coming Great Tribulation, the worst time of trouble ever. Many professing Christians stake their hope on being raptured to escape the Tribulation. But is that what the Bible says will happen?

The Book of Revelation does describe the saints being protected. This is what we find in Revelation, chapter 3, verse 10:

“Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.” (Revelation 3:10).

But how will God protect His Church? We find the answer a few chapters later. Revelation chapter 12 describes Satan the devil’s aim to thwart God’s plan and destroy humanity. At the very end of the age, Satan is thrown down to the earth, and is very angry. He persecutes the Church, described in symbol as a woman. But notice what happens next, in Revelation chapter 12, verse 14:

“But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.” (Revelation 12:14).

Bible scholars point out that “times” represent “years.” So, three and a half “times” equals three and a half “years.” This is speaking of the Tribulation. God will take His people into the wilderness for three and a half years. But Satan will try to stop them. This is found in Revelation chapter 12 verse 15:

“So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.” (Revelation 12:15–16).

Does this sound like a church being swept up to heaven? Or rather, is it describing people right here on earth, pursued by an army, represented by a flood? God will miraculously destroy that army, apparently by an earthquake, as the earth figuratively opens up its mouth. And then God will put His shield of protection over these people, for the duration of the Tribulation. The hope of the saints is not the rapture. The hope of the saints is God’s protection during the Tribulation, and then the change into Spirit at His coming.

There is much more than we can explain in this short program. And that’s why we’re offering this free study guide, Revelation: The Mystery Unveiled. It explains how God will protect, nourish, and preserve His servants, even at the end of the age. Read it for yourself.

Myth Number 3: Humans Will Band Together to Fight Jesus Christ

Today we’re exposing four myths of the apocalypse. There are so many misunderstandings of what will happen at the end of the age. But God wants to reveal the truth to you and me. And He wants to show us how we can really be protected. What else does He say in His word? Well, let’s examine another myth.

Myth Number 3: Humans will band together to fight and prevail over an evil, invading alien power.

Think about it. How many books and movies have this general theme? In some stories, the humans use technology to win the day. In others, they are given or develop special superpowers to fight off their enemies. Whatever the case, it’s usually the humans who figure out a way to survive and outsmart the evil invaders.

Now, I know, it’s just fiction. We’re not supposed to believe it. People watch it just for fun. And yet, what is the message that is subtly and not so subtly drilled into our heads over and over and over again? The message is in the end, we humans win. In the end, we overcome our differences and we work together against a common enemy. We use science, strange new powers, and good-old-fashioned ingenuity and guts. In the end, someone among us will save the day.

That’s one of the common storylines of the apocalyptic genre. But is anyone asking the question, is it really going to happen this way? Where can we turn to find out? The Book of Revelation has the answer. And it reveals that the storyline of the future is not like Deep Impact or Terminator or Godzilla. The Bible shows a very different picture. Let’s look at it together.

Read with me a passage from Revelation chapter 19 verse 11:

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.” (Revelation 19:11–13).

Who does the Bible reveal will come down from heaven in the last days? Not an alien invader, but Jesus Christ. This passage describes the awe-inspiring appearance of Jesus at His second coming. He won’t come in secret… John wrote in Revelation 1:7 that every eye will see Him. And Acts chapter 1 reveals another glimpse of how He will return. When Jesus ascended to the Father, His disciples watched him go up and disappear into the clouds. Then notice what an angel told these men, in Acts 1:11:

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11).

The nations will see Jesus Christ visibly descending from the clouds, to the ground. And how will they receive Him? With open arms? Jubilant that the Messiah has returned, to save mankind from himself? As Revelation chapter 1 verse 7 says,

“…all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him….” (Revelation 1:7).

They’ll be upset… They’ll be angry… and they’ll try to kill Him. Now is that surprising? Well that’s what human beings did the first time the Son of God came. And they’ll try a second time. Let’s read it in Revelation chapter 19 and verse 19:

“And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.” (Revelation 19:19).

Think about those words. The kings of the earth will join together, in a concerted effort not to attack an evil, alien invader, but to destroy the very Savior Himself. Could it be that some will be deluded into thinking He is a hostile alien coming to annihilate mankind? And could Satan the devil be behind that message?

The nations fighting Christ will not prevail. Their leaders, the beast and the false prophet, will be captured and killed, and their armies destroyed. And Jesus Christ will subdue the nations, and set up His Kingdom on earth.

So what’s the value in studying the Book of Revelation? It reveals our future. And our study guide, Revelation: The Mystery Unveiled can help walk you through this vital book. Chapters 4, 5, and 6 explain who these people are who fight Christ when He returns. They explain why human armies will attempt to stop Him, and why they’ll be unsuccessful. In a time when many are throwing out the Bible, we all need to ask God to help us understand the Bible, so we can be ready for the chaotic times ahead. Myth Number 4: The Post-Apocalyptic World Will Be One of Chaos and Destruction

In today’s program, we’ve considered some of the myths of the apocalypse. What we’ve found is that apocalypse is not just about disaster and calamity, but about God revealing the future. We’ve seen that the hope of Christians is being protected by God right here during the Tribulation and being glorified at Christ’s return.

And we’ve also shown that human armies will band together to actually fight the Son of God Himself. In the time remaining, let’s expose just one more myth:

Myth Number 4: The post-apocalyptic world will be one of chaos and destruction.

What is the common theme of so many dystopic, post-apocalyptic books and movies today? The battle of earth ends in crumbling buildings, burned out vehicles, and shell-shocked survivors fighting for their lives…with no hope for the future. They struggle to live in a hopeless world where cruel enemies prey on their helpless victims. Or, they find themselves in an environment so damaged by calamity and disaster, it’s no longer fit for human life. It’s a grim and disturbing story. But what is the truth? Actually just the opposite. Again, the book of Revelation lives up to its name. It reveals the truth. Let’s listen to what God has to say. We can read it together in Revelation chapter 20 verse 1:

“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years….” (Revelation 20:1–2).

Keep reading, in Revelation chapter 20 and verse 4:

“And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God…. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:4).

What we’re reading is a true description of the post-apocalyptic world. “Tomorrow’s World,” as we call it, and it will be a brand-new civilization. The Devil will be taken away, and the righteous saints will rule in government. They will occupy positions of responsibility in Christ’s Kingdom and rule with Him for a thousand years. The Bible is filled with descriptions of that time of peace and safety and harmony. It will be a time of rebuilding cities, restoring life and teaching humanity how to live. It will be a time of renewal, and hope, and faith.

The Old Testament prophet Micah prophesied of that time as well. In Micah chapter 4 verse 1, it says this:

“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains...” (Micah 4:1).

That means God will establish His Kingdom on earth, through Christ, and that government will subdue all other governments.

Micah chapter 4 verse 3:

“He shall judge between many peoples, and rebuke strong nations afar off; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” (Micah 4:3).

This is a prophecy of God, of what happens after the Tribulation and the Day of the LORD. Can you imagine no more war between nations? It seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? But that’s the real post-apocalyptic world!

Going on, in Micah chapter 4, and verse 4:

“But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the LORD of hosts has spoken.” (Micah 4:4).

He’s describing a world of peace. And think about what this is portraying. Imagine a man with his wife and children, sitting in the shade of a tree, in their backyard, having a picnic. Picture the smaller ones running and playing games, enjoying life. This is a snapshot of life in the post-apocalyptic world. No, it’s not what you find in the movies. But who will you believe? Hollywood? Or the Ever-living God?

Do you want to be in that number, of saints who are protected, and then glorified, and rule with Christ on earth? You can. And our study guide Revelation: The Mystery Unveiled can help you understand how. Don’t forget to order it today.

The Mark of the Beast Is HERE

Today, you are going to learn EXACTLY what the mark of the Beast is, you’re going to learn how the mark is present in the world today, and you’re going to learn what you need to do about it now!

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Known but Unknown

The Mark of the Beast! Everyone wonders what it is, yet virtually everyone gets it wrong! But today, YOU are going to learn EXACTLY what the Mark of the Beast is, you’re going to learn HOW the Mark is present in the world TODAY, and you’re going to learn WHAT you need to do about it NOW! Because, in many ways that will surprise you, the Mark of the Beast is ALREADY HERE. We’re going to show you RIGHT NOW, on Tomorrow’s World!

A Mysterious Symbol—What the Mark is NOT

Greetings, and welcome to Tomorrow’s World! Few concepts in Bible prophecy have generated more speculation than the book of Revelation’s infamous Mark of the Beast. Today, we will explain that Mark—we’ll also explain how it is present in the world TODAY, and show you if you or your loved ones are currently impacted by it.

Regrettably, most today who create popular literature or videos about the Mark of the Beast fail to put the whole of God’s word together on the topic—basing their ideas on the latest fads of technology, or simply their own ideas. Ironically, when you truly understand it, many of those same individuals show evidence of the Mark of the Beast, themselves, in their own ministries.

Today, we’re going to clear away all the confusion, open up the Bible, and let God’s word explain to you the Mark of the Beast in THE BIBLE’S OWN TERMS—not made-up ideas, human guesses, or unfounded conspiracy theories.

We’ll also be offering you one of our most popular free DVDs, “The Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation.” This collection of three Tomorrow’s World programs explains the signs that will identify the Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation, including a full program devoted to the mysterious number 666. Be sure to take note of the information you need to get your own free copy, no strings attached.

The Mark of the Beast makes its appearance in chapter 13 of the book of Revelation. If you’re familiar with our website, you know we have a multitude of resources to help you understand this remarkable book. For now, let’s just briefly set the stage.

Revelation, chapter 13, speaks of a powerful blasphemous beast, seen in a vision rising out of the sea. The Apostle John, recording the vision—shown to Him by Jesus Christ—tells us that this beast is an individual empowered by the devil, worshipped by the world, and in possession of unmatched military, political, and economic might, representing a revived version of the ancient Roman Empire. The free DVD we are offering today identifies the world-ruling government that will be controlled by this Beast, the region of the world in which it will rise, and the primary nation that will wield its power.

But chapter 13 also describes a SECOND beast, one that appears as a lamb but speaks as a dragon—that is, it looks like ’t’s of Christ, the Lamb of God, but it speaks the teachings of the dragon, that is, the devil. This second beast—identifiable by the signs revealed on today’s free DVD—represents the coming false prophet and Antichrist, who will lead a false version of Christianity and wield remarkable religious power, causing the people of the world to worship the first beast.

Together, these two powers—the revived Roman Empire, a political, economic, and military juggernaut symbolized by the first beast, and the global, counterfeit-Christian religion symbolized by the second beast—will mercilessly persecute true followers of Jesus Christ at that time—leading to Jesus’ return, to conquer all nations and to inaugurate the Kingdom of God!

It is in the context of these two powerful individuals and the systems they control that we read of the Mark of the Beast. Speaking of the false prophet and how he supports the worship of the first beast, prophecy tells us in Revelation 13, beginning in verse 16,

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the Beast, or the number of his name.” [Revelation 13:16-17]

Now here, we see a few important facts. We’re told that all under the influence of the Beast are required to show this mark. We see that the mark goes on the hand and on the forehead. Finally, we see that the mark is used by these despotic regimes to maintain economic control and regulate who is able to buy or sell.

Before we begin exploring what this mark IS, we should perhaps mention several popular theories that get it wrong. Many have speculated that the Mark of the Beast is some sort of barcode that must be printed on individuals’ hands or foreheads. Many have suggested that the mark could be related to the modern prevalence of credit cards and debit cards. Today it has become common to claim that the Mark of the Beast will be a COMPUTER CHIP, perhaps placed under people’s skin on their hand or on their forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless they accept the chip. Some have worried that government identification, such as Social Security Numbers, represent this mark, or that the growth of biometric scanning, such as using your fingerprint to turn on your phone, might be the beginning of the Mark of the Beast.

But as we will soon see, though technology may be employed to communicate information related to the mark, these things are absolutely NOT the mark, itself! Not according to your Bible!

Another mistake is confusing the Mark of the Beast with the number of the Beast, as though they were one and the same. You’ll notice that verse 17 mentioned both of these, and verse 18 elaborates on the latter:

“Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the Beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.” [Revelation 13:18] [Read: SIX HUNDRED SIXTY-SIX]

The number is NOT the same as the Mark of the Beast, though many confuse the two. However, though this number is not the mark, it is vital to understand!

If YOU want to understand this enigmatic number, you need today’s free DVD, “The Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation.” It contains three Tomorrow’s World telecasts that reveal the truth about these two global powers that are soon to arise!

These three programs,

  • Seven Signs of the Antichrist
  • The Prophesied “Beast”
  • [and] 666???,

go into prophetic details that many churches fear to explain and do not want you to hear!

These dictatorial powers WILL RISE in the days ahead, and usher in suffering such as mankind has NEVER SEEN! You and all you know and love WILL be affected! Many talk about these things but do more harm than good with their personal theories and unproven assertions. This DVD gives you the PROOF you need to escape deceptions in the days ahead. It’s absolutely free! Get your copy now by clicking the link in the description or the information card in the top right of your screen, and I will be right back to show you the passages that reveal the fundamental aspect of the Mark of the Beast that almost everyone fails to grasp.

But Just What IS This Satanic Mark?

Welcome back. In our last segment, we discussed what the Mark of the Beast is NOT. Now, let’s begin understanding what it IS.

The Mark of the Beast is not at all what most people think—AND it is already WIDELY PRESENT in the world. God says in Revelation 14:10 that He will pour out His full wrath on those who have this mark. Now this, itself, is a VITAL CLUE about the mark’s identity, as the Bible makes plain that those who receive God’s wrath are called “...the sons of DISOBEDIENCE.”

The Mark of the Beast is related to disobeying God’s commands. Those who claim that things like the U.S. Social Security Number are the Mark of the Beast are unable to demonstrate how such a thing disobeys God. Which of God’s Ten Commandments are broken by being assigned a Social Security Number? None. The mark is of personal DISOBEDIENCE.

So, what is it?

To understand that, we need to understand some additional passages from God’s word. God inspired the Bible over time to form a complete book, and one must look at the ENTIRE book to understand it completely. One of the keys to understanding prophecy, as we have said many times, is to let the Bible interpret the Bible. If we want to understand the Mark of the Beast, we must read with GOD’S MIND, revealed in His word, and not our own.

So, let’s begin. First, notice again how the mark is described. In Revelation 13, we’re told in verse 16 that the false religious prophet causes everyone to bear this mark of disobedience “...on their right hand or on their foreheads….” [Revelation 13:16]

Now turn in your Bible to Deuteronomy 6, where God speaks not of the Mark of the Beast, but of His OWN mark which is to be on your hand and forehead! Let’s begin in verse 6. After reviewing the Ten Commandments in chapter 5, God tells His people:

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart…. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” [Deuteronomy 6:6, 8]

God expects HIS COMMANDMENTS to be on our hand or on our forehead between our eyes! Now many misunderstand this passage to mean that physical copies of the commandments must be strapped to one’s head or arm, but the command is, rather, to OBEY the commandments! The hand is the symbol of action and what we DO! The forehead represents our thoughts and how we direct our eyes. GOD’S COMMANDMENTS should be bound on our hands and our foreheads so that in all we DO or THINK we are obedient to Almighty God!

His word repeats this admonition multiple times. For instance, Moses explains in Deuteronomy 11:18,

“Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.” [Deuteronomy 11:18]

After delivering Israel from Egypt, God said,

“It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the LORD’s law may be in your mouth….” [Exodus 13:9]

Let your Bible interpret itself! Jesus wasn’t revealing something NEW about hands and foreheads—He was using symbolism GOD HIMSELF ESTABLISHED in the Old Testament! If God says that having something on your hand or forehead has to do with the COMMANDS you obey, trust Him to interpret His own words! Having a sign or mark on your hand or forehead designates OBEDIENCE—whose laws you choose to obey with your actions and devotion!

Having the Mark of the BEAST on your hand and forehead—places the Bible says GOD’S COMMANDS SHOULD BE—means taking the LAW and COMMANDMENTS that represent GOD’S IDENTITY and AUTHORITY and REPLACING THEM with commands that represent the BEAST’S IDENTITY and AUTHORITY!

And there’s more! In our next segment, we will identify the SPECIFIC command that represents this sign of authority and identity!

But first, let us take a VERY brief break to give you another opportunity to request our free DVD, “The Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation.”

Many have tried to spread fear concerning these prophesied figures, and—be under no illusions, they will cause death and destruction such as has NEVER been witnessed. But you can fight fear with KNOWLEDGE when you KNOW who these individuals are. This free DVD will cast light on these two figures, and the mysterious number 666, so that you will UNDERSTAND what to look for—without confusion, and without question. Take just a moment to request your own free copy, and I will be right back to tell you exactly what commandment the Beast will seek to subvert to make His mark, and you’ll see how that mark is active today!

The Sabbath, NOT Sunday, is God’s True Holy Day

We noted at the end of the previous segment that taking the mark or sign of the Beast on your hand and forehead means taking devotion and obedience to GOD’S Commandments and replacing them with something representing the BEAST’S supposed authority. What could that be?

As usual, God’s word contains the answer, but only if we read it carefully and don’t assume that we already know.

When we look to the inspired word of God, and not our OWN ideas, do we see Him set apart any of the Ten Commandments as a MARK or SIGN identifying those who belong to Him? Is it the 7th commandment telling us not to murder, or the 2nd commandment telling us not to worship idols?

Actually, we don’t have to speculate. God Himself tells us CLEARLY and DIRECTLY which commandment He uses in a singular way to identify His own faithful people: It’s the 4th commandment to observe the seventh-day Sabbath!

Don’t believe me; believe your Bible! — Let’s look at it together. Turn to Exodus 31, beginning in verse 12:

“And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: “Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a SIGN between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you…. Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD….”’” [Exodus 31:12-15]

Later, the prophet Ezekiel also notes the special status of the Sabbath commandment as a SIGN. He writes God’s own words in Ezekiel 20 and verse 12:

“Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a SIGN between them and Me, THAT THEY MIGHT KNOW that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.” [Ezekiel 20:12]

Later [vv. 19–20], God says,

“I am the LORD your God…. Hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a SIGN between Me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.” [Ezekiel 20:19-20]

No other Commandment is spoken of in this way! God says plainly that the seventh-day Sabbath will be a SIGN BETWEEN GOD AND HIS PEOPLE.

It’s not a coincidence that in Exodus 16, when God wanted to test the Israelites to see if they would walk in the fullness of His law, He tested them specifically on whether they would keep the SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH. According to God Himself, the fourth commandment represents a mark or sign between God and His people, representing their willingness to obey Him as their God. The Sabbath identifies His people to Him and identifies Him to His people!

So, if the Bible says that obeying God’s fourth commandment and keeping the biblical SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH is a SIGN or MARK of His faithful people, then what sort of sign or mark would it be to IGNORE that biblical command and replace it with the keeping of SUNDAY, the first day of the week—the day of ancient Rome’s sun worship?

Even the Roman Catholic Church admits that the ONLY day set apart by God in the Bible is the SEVENTH-DAY SABBATH and that NOWHERE does God’s word set apart SUNDAY. As the Catholic Press noted as far back as August 25, 1900:

“Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance can be defended only on Catholic principles.… From beginning to end of Scripture there is not a single passage that warrants the transfer of weekly public worship from the last day of the week to the first” (Catholic Press, August 25, 1900).

While many have twisted Bible verses to try to justify Sunday-worship in the Christian church, changing the day of worship from the seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday is NOT commanded ANYWHERE in the Bible!

In fact, in denomination after denomination, religious authorities have admitted this very fact.

Rather than being biblically-ordained, weekly worship on the FIRST day of the week was associated in ancient Rome with the worship of the SUN! In March of the year 321 AD, the Roman Emperor Constantine commanded rest on the “venerable Day of the Sun”—a command to worship on Sunday does not exist in anywhere in Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation!

Put the Bible’s testimony together: God Almighty commands that HIS OWN commandments be bound on our hands and foreheads, meaning that we obey HIM and keep HIS commandments. Among those commandments, God singles out keeping the seventh-day Sabbath as the mark or sign identifying Him to His people, and His people to Him. The Beast of Revelation, however, will require the world to REPLACE that sign with a sign indicating DISOBEDIENCE to GOD’s commandments and obedience to the BEAST’S authority and commands, instead.

Casting aside the biblical seventh-day Sabbath and replacing it with the pagan day of the sun means accepting the Mark of the Beast!

I know this surprises many of you, and I don’t expect you to take my word for it! These will become matters of LIFE AND DEATH! You should prove them for yourself.

If you are ready to begin doing that, then I strongly encourage you to get a copy of our free DVD, “The Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation.”

If you are tired of theories and guesses, and want the UNADULTERATED TRUTH of the BIBLE about these two prophetic individuals, you need this free DVD. So check out the link in the description or click the info button in the top right. Also, don’t forget to subscribe and click the notification bell so you don’t miss another Tomorrow’s World video.

Next, I’ll explain what the Mark of the Beast means for you now, and in the days ahead of you.

Will You Resist Satan’s Ultimate False Religion? With God’s Help, You CAN!

Can it really be that simple—and so widely unexpected? Is replacing obedience to God’s fourth commandment to keep the seventh-day Sabbath with the pagan-originated day of “Sun-Day” REALLY the mark or sign of the Beast?

It is. And I ask you to prove these things for yourself, for your sake and your family’s. Our website at TomorrowsWorld.org has even more information to help you do just that. And, truly, one of the best ways to begin is with your own copy of our free DVD, “The Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation,” so you can delve into these things in your own home or listen to them as you drive. This information is life-changing, and these two individuals will, very soon, influence the lives of every person on the planet.

So, what do these things mean for us today?

The past can give us a clue. Just as Sabbath-keeping versus Sunday-keeping will become a life-or-death issue under the reign of the Antichrist and the Beast of Revelation in a revived Roman Empire, it was a life-or-death issue centuries ago, as well!

Around 365 AD, in so-called “Christian” Rome, Sabbath keepers who would not worship on Sunday were declared under a curse. As the apostate bishops at the Council of Laodicea declared:

“Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord’s Day.… But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ” (A Select Library of Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers of the Christian Church, ed. Philip Schaff and Henry Wace, 1900, p. 148).

To be declared “anathema” is to be declared under curse! Such sentiments WILL happen again! And those who will not submit to the Beast by worshiping on the day of the SUN instead of the seventh-day Sabbath will be banned from buying or selling goods and PERSECUTED by the Beast!

Yet, God makes clear that His wrath is coming on those who will not repent of their taking on that mark of disobedience! At the fall of the future Babylon, the capital of the Antichrist’s and Beast’s power, an angel flies through the air, declaring,

“…If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation.” [Revelation 14:9–10]

Meanwhile, those persecuted ones who have refused to take on this sign of the Beast’s authority and remained faithful to the commandments of God experience a very different fate:

“And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.” [Revelation 20:4]

Keeping the day of the sun instead of the day God commands may not be a literal matter of life and death today, but mark the words of your Bible—it will be!

However, you don’t have to wait to take on God’s own mark! You can begin TODAY keeping His commandments and rejoicing in His seventh-day Sabbath! Answers—And Hope—Found in the Bible

What will happen to you when you die? There are many ideas, religious teachings, and even superstitions, but are any of them true? Will you go to heaven and float around on clouds? Will you go to a purgatory where you will be purified for many years? Will you be transformed into some other creature or animal? Or will you be tormented in the flames of hell forever?

Can you really know the future, and what lies beyond the grave? Your Bible reveals the encouraging news of life after death. Many have misinterpreted the Bible and embraced erroneous traditions as their belief. Yes, eventually there is life after death, but the truth is quite different than what you may have been taught. You need to know the truth. On today’s program, we’ll be offering you a vital free study guide revealing from the Bible the awesome good news regarding life after death. It’s titled WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? Do you know that your Bible teaches a first and second resurrection from the dead? You need to know what happens when you die!

Stay tuned!

The Fate of All Mankind—And Beyond

We grieve and mourn when a close family member dies, especially if the death is sudden and unexpected. Is there any hope for your loved ones after they die? Yes, there is. On today’s program we’ll share some surprising and encouraging truths from your Bible that will give you hope for the future, and we’ll be offering you an inspiring and eye-opening free study-guide titled, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? Is there any more important question you need to answer? Be sure to write down the contact information to order our free copy!

We experience the pain of loss when a loved one [one of a loved one when he] dies. Sometimes, because of old age it’s expected. But it’s really shocking when it happens suddenly. A teenager’s life is suddenly cut short in an auto accident the night of High School prom and the dreams of a wonderful future are cut terribly short. Men and women have given their lives in military service for their country and died before age 30. Historic genocides and holocausts have taken millions of men, women, and children in Europe, Africa, and other parts of the world. Is there any hope for their future? Or is all hope lost?

My friends, your Bible reveals amazing hope for billions who have died over the past six thousand years. Let’s look at one prophecy that gives us that elusive hope. Your Bible predicts a massive resurrection to physical life in the future. The prophet Ezekiel was given vision of those who lost hope and died. Turn in your Bible to Ezekiel 37. Here the nation of Israel is viewed as lost souls. This is the famous valley of dry bones. Notice the hopeless attitude of these who died. God says to the prophet Ezekiel in verse 11:

“Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They indeed say, ‘Our bones are dry, our hope is lost, and we ourselves are cut off!’”

Does God give hope to the hopeless? He states in verse 12,

“Therefore prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord’” (Ezekiel 37:11–14).

My friends, your Bible gives hope for the deceased, more than you can imagine. But what happens the moment you die? Do you go to heaven or hell or purgatory? The pollster George Barna once found, as far back as 2003, that Eastern religious concepts were gaining popularity in the United States. At that time, 18 percent of those surveyed told Barna that they believed in some kind of reincarnation. Some believed that the soul may come back as a human being, or maybe as an animal, depending on our own conduct during this life, and that we will only end the cycle of reincarnation when by our own strenuous efforts we achieve perfection.

My friends, let’s understand. Most of the world will face its Day of Salvation in the White Throne Judgment. You need to understand the meaning of the White Throne Judgment. Revelation 20:12,

“And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, [they are resurrected from the dead] and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.”

This awesome judgment period will give billions of spiritually deceived and blinded individuals their first genuine opportunity for salvation. The free booklet we’re offering today explains this glorious phase of God’s master plan for all humanity.

While billions will be judged in the White Throne Judgement period, today’s true Christians are under judgment now. The Apostle Peter states this in 1 Peter 4:17,

“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now, ‘If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?’ Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator” (1 Peter 4:17–19).

This life-long process of Christian judgment is just that, a PROCESS, not a final decision. As the Apostle Peter exhorted all of us,

“…but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

The Christian life is one of growing in godly character, learning to live the way of life Christ teaches us. As He stated in Luke 4:4, It is written,

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

My friends, Christ came that we might learn to live by true biblical values, the Ten Commandments, and their spiritual application. This leads to the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10!

We look forward to the awesome reward of the saved that true Christians will receive in the first resurrection when Christ returns. My friends, I hope that most of you will desire to seek THAT promise of life after death. The greatest goal of a Christian is to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, as Jesus stated in Matthew 6:33. Yes, there is life after death, but NOT until you are resurrected. When you die, will you still be conscious? No, you will not. Ecclesiastes 9:5,

“For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing.…”

My friends, when you die, you remain dead until one of the general resurrections. You need to study this in your own Bible. To help you understand your future after death, this comprehensive, plain-language free booklet will give you the understanding, encouragement, hope, and inspiration you need. It’s titled WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? This booklet gives you the plain truth from your Bible. Consider some the chapters: “Three Resurrections,” “Punishment or Punishing?,” and “Eternal Life: A Gift.” This free booklet will give you hope right from your own Bible for your future and the future of your deceased loved-ones. The Resurrections Explained

In the first part of our program, we saw that there is hope beyond death, even for those who were blinded to the truth, such as Israel of the first century. The prophet Ezekiel envisioned the time when the valley of dry bones will come to life. God told Ezekiel, Prophesy to these bones, and say to them,

“O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: ‘Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord’” (Ezekiel 37:4–6).

This great resurrection to physical life will take place in the White Throne Judgment revealed in Revelation 20:11–14. Let’s understand. Your Bible reveals three general resurrections from the dead, of thousands, millions, and billions of people. But the first resurrection is described in your Bible primarily in two chapters: 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians 4. Who will be in the first resurrection? Those who are faithful Christians. The Apostle John describes their future:

“And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years....This is the first resurrection.”

That’s in Revelation 20:4–5.

The FIRST RESURRECTION from the dead is to IMMORTAL LIFE. This is the resurrection that takes place when Christ returns. God will give faithful Christians the awesome gift of eternal, immortal life at that time.

Faithful saints and Christians who died are WAITING IN THEIR GRAVES for the First Resurrection. But, what will happen to the billions of humans who have died but never accepted Christianity? Are they burning in hell right now? No! Your Bible teaches that everyone who has died, with the exception of Jesus Christ, is still dead. Those people who never had their minds opened to true Christianity will be in the White Throne Judgment! They will be in the SECOND RESURRECTION.

This is a resurrection to a lifetime of judgment, and it’s a resurrection to physical life. When will the Second Resurrection take place? Revelation 19 describes the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. He will not be alone when He comes back to this earth. REVELATION 20:4,

“And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”

Then we read a parenthetical statement:

“But the rest of the dead [listen to this] did not live again until the thousand years were finished” (Revelation 20:5).

If they did not live again for a thousand years, they remained dead all that time! Who are the “rest of the dead”? People still in their graves who are not in the First Resurrection. And WHEN does this Second Resurrection take place? When the thousand years are finished, as we read in Revelation 20:5.

Now turn to REVELATION 20:11:

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the DEAD, small and great, STANDING before God [This is the SECOND resurrection, a resurrection to physical life, NOT immortal life], and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books” (Revelation 20:11–12).

The Greek word for “books” is “biblia.” The good news is, that the books, or the Bible, will be opened to the understanding of the masses for the first time. The Book of Life is finally opened to those resurrected in the White Throne Judgment, as we see in Revelation 20:12. This will be their FIRST opportunity to properly learn the truth. This is NOT a SECOND chance as some may like to call it. All human beings will be held accountable for their actions and thoughts. But this will be their first time for many to SEE their sins. They’ll have the opportunity to REPENT of their sins, and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior.

In the White Throne Judgment, billions of humans will be resurrected to physical life, for the first time. They will have their minds opened to the Bible and the awesome reality of God’s truth. Our free booklet covers this subject in more detail than we have time for on this program. It’s titled WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? There’s hope for some of your relatives and friends whom you may have thought were lost forever. Final Judgment NOT Happening Right Now

On today’s program, we’ve seen that there is wonderful hope for the dead. The faithful saints are waiting in their graves for the return of Jesus Christ and the first resurrection. The FIRST RESURRECTION from the dead is to IMMORTAL LIFE. The SECOND RESURRECTION is the Resurrection to physical life in the White Throne Judgment.

The White Throne Judgment is the hope of billions of people who have been blinded to the truth of salvation. They never had a genuine opportunity for salvation. We expect that the vast majority will repent and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and His shed blood for the forgiveness of their sins.

God is a God of mercy, but He is also a God of justice. Sadly, some individuals will reject God’s grace and salvation. The incorrigibly evil will REFUSE to repent of their sins and refuse to accept the sacrifice of Christ. But God will not allow human beings to suffer for all eternity in a state of bitterness, hate, and rebellion. He will destroy them in the lake of fire. Notice this sobering statement in REVELATION 21:7,

“He who overcomes shall inherit ALL THINGS, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Revelation 21:7–8).

The THIRD RESURRECTION is to eternal punishment and destruction in the lake of fire. This is the second death as we just read in Revelation 21:8. This is the second death, from which there is no resurrection! God is just. He states in HEBREWS 10:30,

“‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord…. The wicked will be tormented as they stand before the lake of fire. Then all the wicked will be cast into the lake of fire and burned up.”

They will die forever. As it states in ROMANS 6:23,

“For the wages of sin is death [eternal death], but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God has an awesome plan for all humanity. His plan is sure and wonderful. [SLOW] Everyone, including today’s non-Christians, will have a GENUINE OPPORTUNITY after the millennium in the White Throne Judgment, to respond to the true gospel, to surrender to their Savior, Jesus Christ, and to be a part of God’s family for all eternity. If you feel that God is calling you NOW to commit your life to Christ and the teachings of the Bible, call the number on your screen, and one of our representatives will be happy to meet with you and talk with you at your convenience.

And be sure to request our free eye-opening booklet: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? This free booklet will give you more information than we’ve had time for on our program. And we’ll give you hope for your deceased loved ones whom some may be dead and lost forever. Yes, my friends, your Bible reveals that there is hope for the dead!

On today’s program, we’ve seen that the very HOPE of a Christian is the promised RESURRECTION from the dead! In ACTS 23, the Apostle Paul was confronted by the Jerusalem Sanhedrin. What did he say? ACTS 23:6,

“Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; concerning the HOPE and RESURRECTION of the dead I am BEING judged!”

Paul was BEING judged. He did not YET have immortal life! Let’s understand. We do NOT already have immortality! It is a gift from God! Read ROMANS 6:23, For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV) Notice that the scripture does NOT state, “The wages of sin is immortal life in hell-fire.” The wages of sin is NOT immortal LIFE, but DEATH, the absence of life. If you already have an immortal soul, if you already have eternal life, you don’t need it as a GIFT from God. My friends, a soul can DIE! The prophet EZEKIEL tells us in EZEKIEL 18:4,

“The SOUL WHO SINS SHALL DIE.[!]”

The Hebrew word for Soul is “Nephesh,” which means physical or natural life. And the same word “nephesh” also refers to ANIMAL LIFE in Genesis 1:21.

Now, what does the New Testament tell us about souls? Turn in your Bible to MATTHEW 10:28,

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both SOUL and body in hell. (or Gehenna fire)”

Do you believe your Bible? Do you believe what Jesus said? God is ABLE to DESTROY—yes, DESTROY—both soul and body in Gehenna. Now, the Bible does teach that there is a human spirit, the spirit in man mentioned in 1 Corinthians 2:11, for example. But the human spirit is NOT an immortal soul. There are many other scriptures to demonstrate that one does NOT have an immortal soul. As God inspired the prophet Ezekiel to state,

“The SOUL WHO SINS SHALL DIE” (Ezekiel 18:4).

Evangelist Gerald Weston explains the pagan origins of the immortal soul doctrine in his telecast, “Do You Have an Immortal Soul?” Just access this inspiring program on our Website at TomorrowsWorld.org.

Our sin has earned us, you and me, the death penalty. But God sent His Son to pay that penalty for us. But what happens to the incorrigibly wicked? Doesn’t the Bible teach there is a real hellfire for them? Certainly, God WILL judge the evil ones who seal their character to live in rebellion against His loving way of life. As the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:19,

“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.”

The punishment for the incorrigibly wicked begins with the Third Resurrection, as we saw earlier. You do not want THAT resurrection! You will want to study our free, exciting booklet, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? Listen to some of the topics in this booklet: “A Blinded World,” “They Are Not Lost Forever,” “The Truth About ‘Hell,’” “Three ‘Hells’ in the Bible,” “The Reward of the Saved,” “The Marriage of the Lamb,” and “Glory Beyond Compare.”

What Will Your Resurrection Be Like?

As we’ve seen on today’s program, NO ONE is now suffering in a mythical, ever-burning hellfire. Everyone who has ever lived and died is still dead. They are totally unconscious and feel no passing of time. All who are dead will be resurrected to one of the three resurrections. My friends, as we’ve seen, the first resurrection takes place at Christ’s Second Coming. That hasn’t happened yet! Will you be in that resurrection? If you GENUINELY belong to Jesus Christ at that time, you will be in the FIRST RESURRECTION. It is called a “better resurrection” in Hebrews 11:35. WHY? Because it’s a resurrection to ETERNAL LIFE and IMMORTALITY.

The FIRST RESURRECTION from the dead is a transformation to glory, immortality, and eternal life. It’s the time when the saints, faithful Christians, will inherit the earth, and rule with Christ on this earth for a thousand years as kings and priests, as it tells us in Revelation 5:10. Those who are in the first resurrection will become the Bride of Christ. The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 warns us all to be ready for Christ’s return and the marriage of the Lamb. Revelation 19:7 shows that the true Church of God, the wife of Christ indeed has been faithful in her preparation for the coming Kingdom of God. Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.

My friends, will you be in the first resurrection, the better resurrection to eternal life? Your Father in heaven loves you and wants you to be a part of His Family. And He plans for billions of other spiritually blinded human beings to learn His way in the White Throne Judgment. That may include friends or relatives you thought may have been lost. You need to study the wonderful plan God has for all human beings. All deceased human beings who have ever lived are still asleep in their graves as it tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:12–15. The good news is that no one is suffering as an immortal soul, as we demonstrated earlier in the program. And the good news is that Jesus Christ will return to this earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. The dead in Christ will be resurrected to glory and immortality. May you now take steps to be in that resurrection!

An Increasingly Secular World

Belief in God used to be generally taken for granted, but not today. The number of scientists, educators, philosophers, politicians, and even celebrities who seem devoted to convincing you and your loved ones that God does not exist is astronomical.

The onslaught can be overwhelming.

But you don’t need a PhD to push back. All you need is a walk outside, and a mind open to simple truths.

Join us today on Tomorrow’s World, and begin “Discovering God in Your Own Backyard.”

A Godless Effort

Hello, and welcome to Tomorrow’s World. I’m glad you’re here. We’re going to discuss several ways you can be assured that God exists, how you can assure others, and how you can do so by what you observe right outside your own home. We’ll also offer you a free booklet titled The Real God: Proofs and Promises, explaining seven proofs that God MUST exist. Keep an eye out for the information you need to get your own free copy.

Now as we begin, we have to recognize that our world no longer takes the existence of a Creator for granted. In fact, many of those who influence our culture are actively and passionately working to destroy that belief.

In what has been termed the rise of the “New Atheism,” the work of public atheists such as Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, and the late Christopher Hitchens has made atheism—or disbelief in God—a popular choice. Dubbed “The Four Horsemen,” these men present ideas that are, frankly, not new, but their aggressive writings and public presentations have inspired a new vigor to those who publicly denounce religious belief. The influence of that sentiment can be felt in various facets of society, from the halls of academia and the courtrooms and legislatures of our governments, to celebrity interviews on YouTube. Disbelief in God is being spread by passionate, atheistic evangelists, determined to permanently turn our culture away from acknowledging a Creator.

This is well illustrated in the work of Peter Boghossian, professor of philosophy and author of A Manual for Creating Atheists. In that book, he expresses his opinion that religious belief should be contained and eliminated like a disease. Chapter 9 of his book is titled “Containment Protocols,” in which he writes, “The purpose of this chapter is to suggest potential changes and to propose ways that readers can contribute to the struggle for reason” (p. 202). What are some of the ways he suggests individuals can “contribute to the struggle for reason”? Consider his suggestion #2: “Stigmatize faith-based claims like racist claims” (p. 203). Or suggestion #8: “Treat faith as a public health crisis” (p. 208). Elaborating on that point, Boghossian states that he isn’t suggesting specific policies on how to do this: “Rather, I want to add my voice to the growing number of people who argue that we must reconceptualize faith as a virus of the mind… and treat faith like other epidemiological crises: contain and eradicate” (p. 209). Then there is suggestion #10: “Create skeptical (atheist) children” (pp. 210–211). Now note: The word “atheist” is his word, not mine.

Finally, there is suggestion #11: “Remove religious exemption for delusion from the DSM” (p. 213). The DSM is the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In other words, Dr. Boghossian suggests that faith-based belief systems should be classified as the side effects of a mental disorder. In his own words: “In the long term, once these treatments and this body of research is refined, results could then be used to inform public health policies designed to contain and ultimately eradicate faith” (p. 214).

When such sentiments dominate the attitudes of those who seek to shape society, they have an impact.

A 2019 report by LifeWay Research noted that two-thirds of churchgoing teenagers stop attending church between the ages of 18 and 22 (“Most Teenagers Drop Out of Church as Young Adults,” LifeWayResearch.com, January 15, 2019).

In a National Study of Youth and Religion report, researchers Christian Smith and Melinda Lundquist Denton found that of teenagers who abandon their faith, almost one-third do so due to intellectual skepticism and disbelief. The reasons given by teenagers included statements such as…

  • “It didn’t make sense anymore.”
  • [and] “I think scientifically and there is no proof.”

(Melinda Lundquist Denton and Christian Smith, Soul Searching: The Religious and Spiritual Lives of American Teenagers, p. 89)

The phenomenon is not limited to children. In 2016 the Pew Research Center reported on their survey results concerning Americans who left a particular faith after once identifying with it. “Unbelief” dominated the reasons why.

About half… who were raised in a religion (49%) indicate that a lack of belief led them to move away from religion. This includes many respondents who mention “science” as the reason they do not believe in religious teachings, including one who said “I’m a scientist now, and I don’t believe in miracles.” Others reference “common sense,” “logic” or a “lack of evidence”—or simply say they do not believe in God (“Why America’s ‘Nones’ Left Religion Behind,” PewResearch.org, August 24, 2016).

But you don’t need a degree in philosophy or advanced religious training to be firm in your belief that God, your Creator, lives and is active in the world. King David, the warrior poet of ancient Israel, wrote in Psalm 14, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (v. 1). In fact, he felt so strongly about it, he said it again in Psalm 53.

If it is foolish to conclude that there is no God, then the evidence that He exists must be all around us, waiting to be noted and considered. And it is.

For the rest of our program, we’re going to ignore the pretensions of professors and the foolishness of philosophers and—simply—step outside… for a straightforward, common sense view of the world. We’ll find that God is there, waiting for us to discover Him.

Before we do that, let me pause to give you an opportunity to request today’s free resource, The Real God: Proofs and Promises.

When your children or grandchildren come home from school questioning God’s existence—filled with the crafty, false arguments of an increasingly secular world—you don’t need to be left speechless, mind racing, desperately searching for a way to pull them back from the edge of unbelief where so many like them have jumped off.

Answer with the quiet but powerful confidence of someone who knows why only the fool says that there is no God. This free booklet will equip you with seven simple, easily understood reasons you can KNOW God exists. …Meaningful enough to strengthen your own faith, and simple enough to explain to others.

Don’t let your children become another statistic. Request a copy of The Real God: Proofs and Promises.

Intricate Design Reveals God’s Hand

We’re looking at the evidence for God that is accessible right in our own backyards. Now, I know some of you don’t have a backyard. My family and I lived for 11 years in an apartment with no “yard” at all! But, even then, we could find our way to a park or picnic area. Hopefully all of you can, too.

Whether in a safe, outdoor area close to your home, or your own backyard, you have quite an observatory from which to discover that the God of Creation is very real. I hope you’ll consider doing this in real life soon, but for now imagine with me for a moment… Imagine stepping outside and looking about you… There is grass beneath your feet, a tree or plant here or there, and a blue sky with the occasional cloud overhead. The sun is shining, and birds are on their way to who knows where.

You don’t need a graduate degree, let alone training in a seminary, to know that God exists. If you are outside, you have evidence enough within the reach of your hands and eyes.

Since we’re in the backyard, let’s consider a tree. Trees are remarkable examples of design, with systems able to draw vast amounts of water from the ground into the highest leaves, without pump or motor. Stomata on the leaves open or close as needed to regulate the tree’s interaction with its environment, bringing in carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen, policing the exchange of water vapor, and producing energy for the tree’s growth.

Perhaps the most outstanding thing about the tree in your backyard is its ability to reproduce itself and create more trees capable of doing everything it can do.

Oak trees come from acorns… Consider the miracle of design and technology that an acorn represents. Packed within it is an abundance of bioengineering and nanotechnology that, when exposed to soil, sun, and water, can assemble materials, build structures, and organize systems to produce a towering oak tree—all automatically! Or, perhaps you have fruit trees in your backyard—consider the apple seed. This contains the same sort of technology as the acorn, though in a much smaller package. Yet, again, exposed the same basic materials, this seed NOT ONLY becomes one brand new apple tree… That tree produces apples, each with five seeds capable of becoming their own trees.

If any scientist or engineer on earth were to design something capable of producing—on its own—autonomous, complex, reproductive, nanotechnology-infused structures that need little but water, soil, and sun to run themselves… we would hail the designer of that technology the greatest inventor in human history! The design we see in life demands a Designer!

Don’t let the many words of atheist scientists and philosophers overrule your common sense. Even Francis Crick, co-discoverer of the DNA molecule’s amazing structure, once wrote, “Biologists must constantly keep in mind that what they see was not designed, but rather evolved” (Francis Crick, What Mad Pursuit, p. 138).

Why must they force themselves to ignore design? Because even the evidence available in our backyard tells us that it WAS designed, and that God, the Designer, exists.

Your backyard offers more wonders than grass and trees! But before we go further, I’d like to give you another opportunity to request this week’s free booklet, The Real God: Proofs and Promises. In it, Dr. Douglas Winnail answers such questions as

  • How can we know that God exists?
  • Why is God so unreal to most people today?
  • How are many Christians today sabotaging their own faith?
  • How is Bible prophecy being fulfilled by today’s anti-God attitudes?

This free resource is written in plain language to explain in straightforward fashion why you, or anyone, should believe in God. Furthermore, it explains how you can trust His promises.

The Universal Source of Law, Life, and Love

We’re looking at how we can come to know God exists while venturing no further than our backyard—or, perhaps, a local park or picnic area. Let’s continue our imaginary stroll, and let’s assume that time has passed, and we now look up at a cloudless nighttime sky.

Without clouds or light-pollution, some estimate that you can see around 2,000 stars in the sky—glittering like diamonds atop black velvet. Of course, there are far more stars than you can see. In a 2017 article at Space.com, Dr. David Kornreich of Ithaca College in New York State estimated the number of stars in the observable universe at one septillion (“How Many Stars Are In The Universe?” Space.com, May 18, 2017).

That is a “1” followed by 24 zeros—an unimaginably large number of stars, filling the observable universe that extends 13.8 billion light years in every direction.

As you look up, ask yourself: Where did it all come from?

Of course, we are not all blessed with a pristine night sky, and we may see far fewer stars. But the question still applies. In fact, it applies to the soil and grass beneath you, the tree just a bit away… even the wood, stone, and brick that make up your home. Even you.

Where did ALL of this come from?

According to science, it hasn’t always been there. The “Big Bang” is now taken for granted by cosmologists and physicists, as uncomfortable as it makes many of them. At an event honoring the late Stephen Hawking, multiple theories concerning the universe’s origin were considered, and cosmologist Alexander Vilenkin put them all into context: “All the evidence we have says that the universe had a beginning” (“Why physicists can’t avoid a creation event,” NewScientist.com, January 11, 2012).

But the idea that ALL of this could have come from absolutely nothing violates common sense. As Julie Andrews famously sang in “The Sound of Music”: “Nothing comes from nothing—nothing ever could.”

The only thing “nothing” ever produces is more “nothing”! There MUST be something that caused the natural world! And the origin of the natural world must logically transcend the natural—it must be supernatural.

The Bible tells us that “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork” (Psalm 19:1). It is no accident that the stars move us to conclude that they must have a Creator. They do so by the design of the One who created them—and us.

In The Real God: Proofs and Promises, Dr. Douglas Winnail discusses how “Creation Demands a Creator” (Douglas Winnail, the Real God: Proofs and Promises, p. 9). When you are standing in your backyard, meditating on God’s existence, one of the greatest proofs is the existence of a backyard at all.

And if we watch the stars long enough, we’ll see that the cosmos moves in a beautiful, orderly way. The stars that make up our night sky burn brightly according to precise laws of gravity and nuclear physics that govern how atoms are pressed together to make new atoms, releasing exact amounts of heat and light into the universe.

Those stars, the wind you feel on your skin as you stand gazing at them, the trees, rocks, grass, and soil around you—even you!—are all made of matter: collections of atoms and molecules arranged and rearranged according to the laws of chemistry and physics.

The sights you see are focused through the lens of your eyes according to the laws of optics. The trees and grass are cared for by laws governing how environmental water is cycled endlessly though the ground and atmosphere. The cool wind brushing your cheek exchanges heat with your skin, according to laws of thermodynamics.

In your backyard, you aren’t merely surrounded by matter—you are surrounded by laws that govern the world and everything in it. From the smallest particles to the largest structures of the universe, reality is organized and governed by elegant, orderly, mathematical laws.

These, too, attest to a Creator. There is no reason that reality must be orderly or comprehensible. In fact, as Albert Einstein wrote, “The eternal mystery of the world is its comprehensibility… The fact that it is comprehensible is a miracle” (Walter Isaacson, Einstein: His Life and Universe, p. 462). Where do the understandable laws of the universe come from? Why does reality obey a set of commands?

Laws demand a Lawgiver! Isaiah 33:22 declares that “the LORD is our Lawgiver” and in Jeremiah 33:25, God declares that He has “appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth….”

We have one more piece of evidence to discuss before we leave your backyard, and it may be the most crucial.

But before we do that, I want to pause one more time so you can request today’s free resource, and as I do, I’d like you to consider that proving God’s existence benefits more than the unbeliever. You may already believe God exists, and if so, I commend you for that. But we often take for granted that we will always believe God exists, and yet our futures are uncertain. Many have been shaken by tragedies, such as the loss of a child, diagnoses of fatal illnesses or chronic pain, or other, unfathomable circumstances, which defy explanation.

Such times can cause even the most faithful heart to skip a beat—and plant a seed of doubt.

Prepare for those times now. The Real God: Proofs and Promises, is designed to help fortify your faith before such times arrive, and to help ensure that your belief in the real and living God will carry you through them.

And when tragedy touches the lives of those you love, this free booklet will help you act as the support they need to sustain their faith.

This isn’t a complicated book. It is short, simple, and designed to bolster your belief in the very real God of the Bible. Order your free copy before a time comes when you’ll wish you had.

God’s Way of Life: A Provable Theory

Welcome back. I hope today’s program has highlighted that the question of whether there is a great God who exists and who created the world is not just an academic question for philosophers and theologians—nor is the conclusion inaccessible to the rest of us. The Creator can be found and seen at work as close as your own backyard. Don’t let the sophisticated and oh-so-impressive sounding words of the secular intellects shake your conviction in God’s existence. In so many ways, many of them represent the perfect example of those whom the Apostle Paul ridiculed in the first chapter of his letter to the Christians in Rome:

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools… (Romans 1:18–22; can cut vv. 18–19 (in italics) for time.)

And, before we conclude this imaginary trip to your backyard, I would ask you to consider one more proof, and this one is more personal. After all—at the very center of this experience in your backyard has been YOU. Before we walk back into your house, take the time to consider your own life, and look at the choices you have made and their consequences over the years. What turned out well? What didn’t? What choices do you regret, and what choices have resulted in blessings for you and your family that continue today?

In the free resource we are offering today, containing seven proofs of God’s existence, author Dr. Douglas Winnail includes a sort of proof that is often unconsidered. The God of the Bible gives us a way of life that works.

If you examine your life in the light of the teachings of Jesus Christ and the commandments of God that are given in your Bible, you will see that they ring true. Look at your past history and compare it to the wisdom found within the pages of the book we call “God’s word.” You’ll find that many aspects of your life you did not understand will begin to make sense. And if you begin to turn to that God in your life, today, and commit to obeying what you read in that book, you will find that the truth of God’s existence becomes more than an academic or theoretical consideration. You will find that trusting the God of the Bible and ordering your life according to His desires and purpose for you may provide you with the greatest proof of all that He does, indeed, exist.

We here at Tomorrow’s World are happy to help you do that in whatever way we can.

Please don’t forget to request today’s f\ree resource, The Real God: Proofs and Promises—and don’t forget to come back! We invite you to join us every week on Tomorrow’s World, and online any time. Don’t Be Too Sure You Haven’t

Virtually everyone in our Western world and much of the rest of the world has heard of Jesus Christ, but have they heard His message? What is the good news He proclaimed for three and a half years before His crucifixion? You think you know? Don’t be too sure! It’s not what most people think. On today’s Tomorrow’s World program, I’ll show you that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ has been neglected. So, stay tuned because you may be surprised!

The Good News You’ve Never Heard Before

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World. On today’s program we are going to look into the Bible, and see what the message was that Jesus of Nazareth brought to this world. You may very well be surprised, even shocked, to learn the truth of this GOOD NEWS. After all, good news is what the term gospel means. So, what exactly is that good news?

Whatever that message was that Jesus preached, it was controversial, because the religious leaders of His day were so upset with Him that they stirred up His own countrymen and put Him to death! Why such hatred?

People everywhere refer to Jesus’ message as the gospel. We hear of:

Gospel music

The message of the gospel

Gospel preaching

The old fashion gospel

And the four gospels

But what exactly is the gospel? Many believe they know, but do they? Do you?

Perhaps the most common belief is that the gospel is about the person of Jesus, about His death, burial and resurrection. Or, it may simply be put, “Jesus died for our sins.” Now this truly IS good news, because we have all sinned and the penalty of sin, according to the Bible is death! As it tells us in Romans 6:23:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Yes, that truly is good news. Indeed, we have no hope without that sacrifice! That IS part of the gospel, part of the good news. But here are a few questions to consider: What was the message Jesus preached PRIOR to his death, burial, and resurrection? Was He merely marking time until His crucifixion? Did what He preach during that time cease to be important?

If so, why was that message called the gospel? The answer is nearly totally neglected, but it’s easily found in the pages of your Bible. All you have to do is open the book and believe what it says. Sadly, almost no one understands or pays attention to that message. On today’s Tomorrow’s World program, I’ll show you what the message was that turned the world upside down. I’ll also be offering a free study resource (Do You Believe the True Gospel?) that asks and answers the questions:

What does it mean to be born again?

What is the Kingdom of God?

And,

When will it appear?

Be sure to take down the contact information shown on your screen to order your free copy.

This message that Jesus brought was so powerful that the religious leaders of His day couldn’t stand it. And today’s religious leaders are apparently no different!

The first chapter of the book of Mark starts at the beginning of Jesus’ three-and-a-half year ministry, and tells us exactly what that message was:

“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel’” (Mark 1:14–15).

Do you realize that the Kingdom of God is the message Jesus said He was sent to proclaim? Notice this clear statement in Luke 4 and verses 42 and 43:

“…And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, ‘I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.’”

Now if that is the message Jesus said He was to deliver, why is it that we hear so little about this Kingdom of God? And what IS that Kingdom? It’s not what most people think!

And Jesus was not who many people think He was. Let me give you an example. When I was eleven or twelve years of age, someone asked my Sunday school teacher: “Why did Jesus speak in parables?” The answer? “Jesus’ audience was made up of farmers, fishermen, and shepherds. He spoke in language that they could understand.”

That certainly made sense at the time, but there’s a problem. It’s totally wrong! How can we know? Jesus’ own disciples asked Him the exact same question, and He gives us HIS reason for speaking in parables. We read in the book of Matthew, the 13th chapter and beginning in verse 10:

“And the disciples came and said to Him, ‘Why do You speak to them in parables?’ He answered and said to them, ‘Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: “Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive…”’” (Matthew 13:10–14).

Instead of making the meaning understandable, Jesus tells us He spoke in parables to hide the meaning from the majority—so says your Bible! And we read in Mark’s account of this same incident,

“But without a parable He did not speak to them. And when they were alone, He explained all things to His disciples” (Mark 4:34).

Let’s look at those parables and see what they tell us about this Kingdom of God, but first I want to offer you an important resource: Do You Believe the True Gospel? Today we’re exploring the message Jesus proclaimed for three and a half years prior to His crucifixion. This is vital knowledge that any professing Christian needs to know. How can anyone claim to be a follower of Christ and not know His message? Do You Believe the True Gospel? gives the REAL GOOD NEWS! It explains the Kingdom of God and the opportunity for you to be part of it, and we are talking about something far more than floating around on clouds, or staring into the face of God forever. So, order your free copy of Do You Believe the True Gospel? And I’ll be right back to show you how Jesus used parables to proclaim the Kingdom of God.

A Kingdom Over the Entire World

What WAS that message Jesus of Nazareth proclaimed for three and a half years? Why is it neglected today? And how did Jesus use parables to proclaim that message? In one after another of His parables, the subject is the Kingdom of God. Notice Mark 4, beginning in verse 26:

“The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come” (Mark 4:26–29).

Here we learn that the Kingdom of God is not something that would come immediately. It will come about through a process of planting, growing, and maturing. Mark 4:30 begins another Kingdom of God parable:

“Then He said, ‘To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade’” (Mark 4:30–32).

This parable tells us that the Kingdom would have the smallest of beginnings, but will eventually grow great. After a three-and-a-half year ministry, marked by mighty miracles and culminating in His resurrection from the dead, there were only about 120 true believers, as Acts 1:15 attests. Yet, before the first century was complete, this powerful message expanded from the tiny Jewish state to all parts of the Roman empire. As we read in Acts 17 verse 6.

“But when they did not find [Paul and Silas], they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, ‘These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.’”

However, this does not explain the complete fulfillment of the parable. Many scriptures tell us that Jesus must come back to this earth to set up His Kingdom and only then is when the mustard seed will branch out to cover the whole world.

People of His day understood His message was about a literal kingdom to be set up on earth, but they didn’t understand the time when it would come, nor did they understand how it would come about. Notice Luke 19, beginning in verse 11:

“Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. Therefore He said: ‘A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return’” (Luke 19:11–12).

This parable goes on to explain a truth almost universally neglected and it has relevance for you. It shows that YOU can help solve the big problems our world faces, such as war, poverty, hunger, and disease. That’s why I want to remind you of today’s important offer: Do You Believe the True Gospel? You may understand the significance of Christ’s sacrifice on your behalf, but you need to know in far greater detail than I have time to give you on this program, exactly what was the message that turned the Roman world upside down. You need to know WHY they killed Jesus. And you need to know why His message had everything to do with YOUR future. Do You Believe the True Gospel? gives insight straight from the pages of the Bible. That message, though neglected in most churches, is specific and easily understood by anyone who truly seeks to know. Jesus proclaimed that message. So did Paul and others.

Jesus Christ Will Reward His Saints With the Power to Make a Difference

We’re asking today: What is the message Jesus of Nazareth preached for three and a half years? That message is found in the Parable of the Nobleman and has great significance for your future. I’ll explain this parable in detail, but I must first explain what your future is NOT! The Sermon on the Mount is considered the heart and core of Jesus’ teachings. It begins with what are known as the beatitudes, or beautiful attitudes. The first one is found in Matthew 5, verse 3, where it says:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Many assume from this that the reward of the saved is going to heaven. We hear of meeting St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, of “getting our wings,” and of floating around on clouds playing harps for all eternity. But notice that this is not the reward offered in verse 5:

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Now that’s a downer! The “poor in spirit” go to heaven, but the “meek” stay on earth! Is that the way it is? I bring out this seeming contradiction, which in truth is NOT a contradiction, to make an important distinction. Let’s look at these two verses more carefully.

When it says “theirs is the kingdom of heaven” it’s referring to possession or ownership. For example, when we say “Kingdom of God” we do not think of the Kingdom being in God. Instead, we understand that it is God’s Kingdom. But when it says, “inherit the earth,” that is speaking of the location of our inheritance.

Matthew, unlike the other three gospel writers, most often uses the expression “kingdom of heaven,” meaning heaven’s kingdom. But, it’s evident that this expression is interchangeable with “Kingdom of God.” Notice it in Matthew 19:23 & 24:

“Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Now back to the Parable of the Nobleman. As we read earlier, this parable was given.

“…because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately” (Luke 19:11).

Note that people understood Jesus’ message was about the Kingdom of God and they were looking for a very real kingdom to be set up at that time. Jesus then went on to explain that it would NOT appear immediately, but that,

“A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return” (Luke 19:12).

Note that He would go away, but return. After His resurrection, He went to heaven to be with His Father, but as we see in this scripture, He will come back. In the meantime,

“He called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come’” (v. 13).

Upon His return, the Nobleman, a reference to Christ, gives out rewards to His servants. How many who read this parable comprehend the significance? It’s easy to read it and miss what Jesus was saying. Here is what their rewards are:

“Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities’” (Luke 19:16–17).

In like manner, the one who gained five minas was given authority over five cities.

Do you comprehend that rulership is what Christ is offering to His faithful servants? Both the Old Testament and the New Testament speak of the future rule of the Messiah here on earth. Scripture after scripture tells us our reward is to be kings and priests ruling on earth for 1,000 years. The latter part of Revelation 20, verse 4 describes those who put it all on the line during this life:

“…And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.”

But where will they live and where will they reign? Revelation 5, verses 9 & 10 give the answer:

“…You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”

Life after death is something that most of us wonder about. CAN we live again? The gospel of Jesus Christ gives us the answer and that good news goes beyond His death and resurrection. Do You Believe the True Gospel? points out scriptures from your Bible that explain the future that you can have, and it’s far greater than floating on clouds or looking into the face of God for all eternity. You need this vital resource and it can be yours free of charge.

Conclusion: The Family of God Ruling With Justice

Jesus’ gospel, that which He proclaimed for three and a half years prior to His death and resurrection, has been largely ignored. Why? Why cast aside the hope He came to bring? It’s one thing to know that your sins can be forgiven—we should never ignore that message—but we must ask, “For what eternal purpose?” What is it all about in the end? If there is life after death, what will it be like? What might be our reward? Jesus came with a clear message that He was coming back to rule on this earth and about a kingdom into which you may be born. Why is that message neglected?

A rich young ruler came to Jesus and asked:

“Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” (Matthew 19:16).

Christ’s response was for him to keep the commandments. Now that should surprise those who say the commandments are done away, but laying that issue aside for now, Jesus gave him one single act that would slay his false god (his money), and at the same time bring him in line with the command against coveting. He told him to go and sell all that he had and give to the poor. By doing so, he would be laying up treasure in heaven—that treasure that Christ would bring with Him when He returns. This man went away sorrowful, unable to bring himself to do so.

After that, Jesus pointed out how difficult it is for those who trust in their riches to enter the Kingdom of God; and this brought His disciples to ask, in effect, “What’s in it for us?” Note Jesus’ response, here in Matthew 19, verse 28:

“So Jesus said to them, ‘Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging [or ruling] the twelve tribes of Israel.’”

Now that is very specific! And is there a connection with the Parable of the Nobleman going into a far country? When we look at the big picture found in the scriptures, we find that there is a continuity of thought. There is a kingdom coming and God reveals to us the structure. Let’s begin with a well-known statement by the Apostle Paul about this kingdom. You often hear it read during funerals, but do people understand it? 1 Corinthians 15:50:

“Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.”

This scripture alone destroys many false teachings about the Kingdom of God. No, it is not set up in our hearts. No, it is not here and now. The Kingdom of God is a very real kingdom, just as Jesus taught His disciples regarding their reward, and just as He taught in the Parable of the Nobleman. And, as we have just read, flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom. Pilate asked Jesus,

“Are You the King of the Jews?” (John 18:33).

And Jesus explained,

“My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here” (John 18:36).

So when does the Kingdom of God come? The 30th chapter of Jeremiah proclaims a time of trouble for the whole house of Jacob. That means the Jews, but it also means the other tribes of Israel. As we already saw, Jesus promised the twelve Apostles rulership, each one over one of the twelve tribes of Israel, but the Jews are only one tribe. Now let’s read Jeremiah 30 and verse 9:

“But they [all twelve tribes] shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.”

When was the last time you heard that preached from the pulpit? Yes, the LORD—that is the returning Messiah, Jesus Christ—will be Ruler over them, but notice also that King David will be resurrected to rule all Israel.

The 14th chapter of Zechariah describes that same time when all nations will gather together against Jerusalem and the Jews. It will be a terrible time, but the prophecy shows that the Messiah, Jesus Christ, will return to save them, and here is the result of His intervention, verse 9:

“And the LORD shall be King over all the earth.”

Do you see a pattern my friends? Jesus Christ is to rule over all the earth. King David will be resurrected to rule over all the tribes of Israel. And the Apostles will also be resurrected at that time, and each will rule over one of the twelve tribes. Then the Parable of the Nobleman shows that those who are Christ’s at His coming will be given rulership over cities. Some will be given greater responsibility based on what they do in this life. The pattern is clear.

Now I know that some say, “But I don’t want to be a ruler!” Do you want to straighten out the problems here below; problems of poverty, gross income equality, disease, corruption, violence, and abuse? Then why don’t you want to rule under Jesus Christ to solve these problems?

God is not trying to save the whole world now. Instead He is calling a few at this time to be born into His family and to rule with Him and bring peace to this troubled planet. Imagine what it will be like when:

“He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore” (Isaiah 2:4).

The Kingdom of God is none other than the spirit born family of God. It will rule on this earth for 1000 years, but that’s only the beginning. To learn more about your potential future, be sure to order your free copy of Do You Believe the True Gospel?
