A Changing World, and Not for the Better

What is happening to our children? A great transformation is occurring right before our eyes, as emerging adults abandon traditional values, and move into a brave new world—a world that portends great dangers for our future.

I don’t have to tell you that times are changing, and at lightning speed. Many are concerned at what they see. Our world has always had its challenges, but something radical is occurring, especially among so-called Millennials and Generation Z.

What does the future hold for our children and grandchildren? Where is it leading, and WHY is it happening? How can parents protect their children against ideas and values so different from their own, ideas they recognize as dangerous to their children and society as a whole? There are answers! Stay tuned.

Values and Virtues Without God?

A very warm welcome to all of you from those of us here at Tomorrow’s World.

On today’s program, we’re asking the question, “Will God forget your children?” And we’ll find the answers in the pages of your bible.

Ominous trends ought to be a concern to every parent and grandparent.

Consider the socialist trends emerging among Americans classified as Millennials and Generation Z. One may argue for more socialist ideas, such as universal health care, but what is troubling is that many individuals promoting this progressive socialist agenda are also totalitarians who want to shut down free speech and all opposition; and that combination is very troubling.

Anyone who refuses to toe the politically correct line is bullied and shouted down. And this is not unique to America. It’s happening in Europe, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Meetings are disrupted and sometimes riots ensue. Some professors openly dock grades of those who refuse to give in to their progressive ideas. And a panoply of pronouns must be used to describe one’s classmates. Pronouns such as Ze, Zir, Xem, and per are adding to and even replacing gender specific pronouns, such as he, she, her, and him. How ironic that the same people calling for tolerance, diversity, and stemming bullying, have become intolerant bullies that exclude anyone who thinks differently from them.

However, not every emerging adult is giving in to these assaults on the English language and forced political correctness, and some are using absurdity to demonstrate absurdity. For example, in protest to these policies popping up all over university campuses, this headline appeared in the Washington Free Beacon:

University of Michigan Student Now Officially Referred to as “His Majesty” (Graham Piro, November 24, 2019).

University life is not what it once was. Today we hear of campus “free speech zones,” “trigger warnings,” “microaggressions” and for those suffering defeat at the ballot box, days off, complete with stuffed animals. So how did we get to where we are?

It’s easy to view our changes only in terms of mere politics, but they go much deeper than that. Our politics is the result of our values, and values do not arise from empty space. Our world is descending into chaos, to a greater degree than we might imagine, because we no longer have consensus on the source of moral values. It’s not that mankind has not tried to come up with consensus, but apart from a power higher than man, at the end of it all, it’s nothing more than personal opinion.

Some years ago, having recognized that many would not accept biblical authority, there was an attempt on the part of some to come together on values for which everyone could agree. One such effort came from former United States Secretary of Education William Bennett, and his Book of Virtues. I’ve used it many times, reading from it at our Living Church of God summer camps. In it, Mr. Bennett compiled short stories on the following ten virtues:

Self-Discipline

Compassion

Responsibility

Friendship

Work

Courage

Perseverance

Honesty

Loyalty

And,

Faith

This was an admirable attempt to promote positive values, but when examined carefully, not everyone agrees with them. For example, let’s look at “Honesty.”

How honest is the proverbial used car salesman? What about our politically elected leaders? And let’s not let the news media off the hook! But let’s not stop with car salesmen, politicians, and the media. Much closer to home, how many parents lie to their own children about Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny? Think about it! Do we all agree that honesty is a virtue? Apparently not!

Then there is the virtue of “Work.” Does everyone agree that honest labor is a virtue? Again, apparently not. Today we hear calls for a guaranteed wage for everyone, even for those able-bodied who choose not to work. There have always been freeloaders, but here we have political leaders desiring to enact into law a right to be lazy. This is in direct contrast to the so-called Judeo/Christian work ethic, a hallmark of Western culture. A promise of guaranteed income for those who refuse to work contradicts a biblical injunction. Notice it in 2 Thessalonians 3:10:

“If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10).

So, once you take God out of the picture, there IS no agreement!

I’ll explain HOW it is that we find ourselves in such a mess as we see about us.

The Dangerous Impact of False Christian Values

According to Pew Research, Millennials are classified as those born between 1981 and 1996, and Gen Z are those born after 1997. It’s easy to look at each group as monolithic, everyone walking in lockstep, all conforming to the same set of values, but this is inaccurate and it’s unfair. While there are certain stereotypes, each group is made up of individuals. At the same time, each group was, and is, heavily influenced by their upbringing and their peers.

My parents’ generation, for example, was heavily influenced by the Great Depression and World War 2, my generation by the Vietnam War and introduction of recreational drugs into a large body of youths. But not everyone in my parent’s generation learned the same lessons from the depression, and not everyone in my generation despised the military and used drugs.

So it is with Millennials and Gen Z. Nevertheless, we see a generalized radicalization among the young, as they cast off the wisdom of previous generations. Why? Here is some wisdom being cast aside to the peril of those who do so:

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption…” (Galatians 6:7–8).

And the biblical book of Hosea gives us this warning in chapter 8 and verse 7:

“They sow the wind, and reap the whirlwind” (Hosea 8:7).

Simply put, we are bringing many sorrows upon ourselves, and it’s going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

Christianity for far too long has been reduced to fairy tales, such as the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. Many churches today focus on entertainment and require little of their followers. Music, while important, has become the main event. And don’t expect people to dress up for God—come just as you are. Other churches focus on repetitious ritual. The true gospel has been replaced by gospels promoting cheap grace, health, and wealth.

False Christianity has robbed mankind of his true purpose. The gospel that Jesus preached for 3½ years prior to His death, burial, and resurrection is no longer part of the message. People were held in check for centuries by the fear of burning forever in hell fire, something people can no longer reconcile with a loving God—and something, by the way, that the Bible does NOT teach. And, predatory priests have destroyed faith and left many disillusioned.

Having cast God aside, where are we now? The Bible gives surprising answers. Paul’s second letter to Timothy gives a prediction of the end of the age, our day today.

“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come” (2 Timothy 3:1).

Now we’ve read this many times on Tomorrow’s World, but let’s do so again as it accurately describes these last days of mankind’s misrule. Here it is in 2 Timothy chapter 3:

“For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power” (2 Timothy 3:2–5).

The bottom line is that far too many are rejecting God, and the Bible predicts a specific consequence as a result.

Reject Those Who Reject God

Why is it that many children reject the values of their parents? Why is it that for many the joy of having children turns into conflict and estrangement, a nightmare of drugs, and grandchildren conceived out of wedlock? Even small children openly defy parents and adult authority in general. It was not always this way, but what we see today was predicted long ago by the prophet Isaiah.

“As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths” (Isaiah 3:12).

The majority of our Western world does not take God seriously. Even many professing Christians reject His commandments, claiming they were done away at the crucifixion, and instead replace them with man-made rules. Days founded in paganism and heathen practices are substituted for days God set aside for worship and special instruction.

Our leaders fight and squabble like children. How often we hear the question, “Where is the adult in the room?” And consider the endless sexual scandals that rock the corridors of government, industry, and the media. And when it comes to celebrities, there seems to be no shame. Is this not an accurate description in Jeremiah 5 of our time?

“Your children [adults acting as children] have forsaken Me... When I had fed them to the full, then they committed adultery and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses. They were like well-fed lusty stallions; every one neighed after his neighbor’s wife” (Jeremiah 5:7–8).

Does God take this lightly? Not at all. Notice verse 9:

“‘Shall I not punish them for these things?’ says the LORD. ‘And shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?’” (Jeremiah 5:9).

Someone might wrongly suggest that this applied only to the Jews of that day, but even if that were so, we see the mind of God in this. God does not take this kind of behavior lightly. And does not this passage in the fourth chapter of Jeremiah describe us as well?

“For My people are foolish, they have not known Me. They are silly children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge” (Jeremiah 4:22).

When adults act as silly children, what can we expect of their children? Here’s the answer to the title of today’s program, “Will God forget your children?” Here’s the answer, straight from your Bible. Hosea 4, verse 6:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…. Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children” (Hosea 4:6).

How ironic in the age of knowledge, when knowledge is exploding as never before, God says His people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. Yes, we are wise to do evil, but have no knowledge to do good. The knowledge we have rejected and forgotten is the law of God, and God tells us that because of this, He will forget our children!

Today our children are manipulated and mis-educated, led about by leftist professors and a compliant media. What we see today are mixed up children, not knowing whether they are boys or girls. Even to suggest what was almost universally accepted even a few years ago, that there are only two genders, is now enough to be censored. Free speech is dying.

Damage to our children starts early. As if raising children was not difficult enough during normal times, kindergartners today are being indoctrinated with ideas they are too young to comprehend. Social engineers have been at work for decades, as seen from the 1989 book Heather Has Two Mommies. It’s advertised as age appropriate for 3-year olds and up, and it’s far from the only early influence on children. Such attempts to confuse our children have only become worse.

You’ve likely seen reports regarding “Drag Queen Story Hour,” (DQSH). This is where drag queens, dressed in their finest, read stories to small children. According to DQSH, this is done in:

“…libraries, schools, bookstores, museums, summer camps, afterschool programs, and other community spaces” (“Drag Queen Story Hour,” 2018).

Their official website goes on to explain:

“DQSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models. In spaces like this, kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions and imagine a world where people can present as they wish, where dress up is real” (ibid.).

It is difficult to imagine why any responsible parent would bring his or her child to such events, but DQSH has chapters scattered across the United States, Puerto Rico, Sweden, and Japan.

While you personally would not likely take your child, other parents do! The point is that if you want your child to be compassionate, yet not indoctrinated in this “brave new world,” you must be vigilant, and you must begin counteracting these influences at the earliest ages.

The Deception of Religious Syncretism

A growing number of parents are taking their children out of government schools to teach them at home. This avoids that outlet for politically correct indoctrination, but is this the total answer?

Not every parent is equipped with or able to homeschool his child, and formal education is far from the sole source of error in our current world. Many homeschooled children spend hours each week on Social Networking Sites, and these carry with them a variety of hazards. Conspiracy theories and misinformation abound on the Internet, such as promotion of the idea that the earth is flat.

Children are easily manipulated, as seen when a group of them barged into the office of United States Senator Dianne Feinstein demanding her support for the Green New Deal. They had been misled to believe that the world has only twelve years left due to climate change. Senator Feinstein was neither persuaded nor amused.

Here is another evil regarding the Internet. Dr. Paul McClure of the University of Lynchburg discusses the danger of religious syncretism, that is, the blending of doctrines and practices between various religions. In effect, each person develops his own religion. Now that may seem good to some in our postmodern world, but isn’t truth more important than individual beliefs? And don’t fall for that nonsense that there are “no objective truths.” He explains the problem in his treatise titled, “Faith and Facebook in a Pluralistic Age: The Effects of Social Networking Sites [SNS] on the Religious Beliefs of Emerging Adults.”

Dr. McClure, using data from the National Study of Youth and Religion, writes:

“…[R]ecent changes in technology have accelerated the growth of the pornography and gambling industries. Other studies have shown that Internet use may underwrite antisocial behaviors for adolescents (Wang et al. 2012) and that SNS are cited as contributing factors in divorce proceedings (Valenzuela, Halpern, and Katz 2014). Parents especially fret about the latent effects of modern technologies (Dill 2012). According to these concerned parents, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter not only expose adolescents to a plurality of worldviews that may be at odds with what they have learned at home…. [But] As a result, new social technologies often pose a threat to parents who wish to impart specific moral or religious teachings to their children” (“Faith and Facebook in a Pluralistic Age: The Effects of Social Networking Sites [SNS] on the Religious Beliefs of Emerging Adults.” Paul McClure, Sociological Perspectives, 2018, p. 819).

McClure then goes on to explain this unintended consequence of Social Networking Sites:

“I find that emerging adults who use SNS are more likely to think it is acceptable to pick and choose their religious beliefs, and practice multiple religions independent of what their religious tradition teaches…. These findings suggest that exposure to broader networks through social media leads to increased acceptance of syncretistic beliefs and practices” (McClure p. 818).

Equally troubling is that changing immigration laws and patterns have

“…contributed to the influx of Eastern religions…” (McClure p. 819).

Due to the influence of these Eastern religions, we see an increase in America and other Western nations in astrology, vegetarianism, transcendental meditation, and transmigration of souls—all ideas contrary to biblical doctrines.

The Bible tells us that if we forget God and His values, He would forget our children, but the Bible also gives good news. We read these comforting words from the prophet Isaiah concerning the future, after we have learned a most painful lesson:

“All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children” (Isaiah 54:13).

On today’s Tomorrow’s World program, we have briefly explored the problem. We’ve seen that our rejection of God has brought about an increasing rejection by God of our children. However, there are strategies you can employ to protect your children. It IS possible to “Raise Good Kids in a Bad World.” Our specially prepared DVD gives practical and workable advice. A World Wide Dictatorship Coming?

In the Book of Revelation, John saw two beasts in a vision. One rose up from the sea and the other from the earth. Bible students understand these to be human leaders wielding power over the nations. Their power reaches its climax in the latter days, when this unholy alliance seizes far-reaching control over people’s lives. They even force people to take a mysterious mark, without which they are virtually cut off from society.

The Book of Revelation predicts this will happen. But how could such a thing occur in our enlightened age? Will people really give up this control over their lives?

We’ll explore that today on Tomorrow’s World. And we’ll get a glimpse into the coming society these beasts will shape. And we’ll see how you and your family can escape the terrible trap set by these two powerful figures.

During this program, I’ll be offering our free study guide, The Beast of Revelation: Myth, Metaphor, or Soon-coming Reality? So get ready, you won’t want to miss requesting your own copy of this hard-hitting booklet.

So, is Big Brother coming? I’ll be right back with the answers.

A Society Under Total Surveillance

In 1948, George Orwell wrote the book, “1984.” In the novel, he imagined a world governed by a totalitarian dictatorship bent on controlling the population. By cameras and spies everywhere, Big Brother dictates their movements, their behaviors, and even their words. The author coined the phrase, “Big Brother is watching you,” to describe this suffocating level of personal surveillance. George Orwell was an insightful critic of his time, and what he envisioned was government becoming more oppressive, until it controls virtually every movement of every person held under its sway.

The Book of Revelation does describe such a time. It tells of two ruthless leaders who share an alliance and oppress their people like no time in history. Let’s read about it, in Revelation 13, verse 1.

“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.”

When compared with Daniel chapter 7 in the Old Testament, we can see this beast is a combination of four world-ruling powers culminating in the Roman Empire. This empire collapsed in 476 AD. That’s the mortal wound described in verse 3. Also in verse 3, his deadly wound is healed. That is the reconstitution of the empire under Justinian in 554 AD, with the aid of the Pope in Rome. This revived Roman Empire would have successive revivals, with the final appearance in the time of the end.

The Beast out of the earth is the second beast, described in verse 11.

“Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.”

This beast is also powerful, and it represents a religious leader. He does great wonders to deceive the masses. He appears to be an emissary of Christ, but speaks with a very different message, the words of the dragon, who is Satan the Devil.

In verse 16, we find how these two dark forces team up to coerce the population into taking a mysterious mark:

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (vv. 16–17).

Is this Big Brother? This sounds a lot like Orwell’s society of “1984.” Think of the suffocating repression of personal rights this is describing. It sounds shocking to us who live in liberty-loving, open societies of the Western world. But Revelation 13 shows this is coming.

These two beasts will not last long. But they will arise in the last days, just before Christ’s return. How do we know this? Because we also read, in Revelation 19:20, that Jesus will destroy these two individuals, at His coming. So, it’s yet to happen in the future.

COVID-19 Monitoring a Disturbing Precursor of Privacy Invasion

Some people feel we already have Big Brother now. They point to restrictions made by our governments because of the coronavirus, for example. When COVID-19 hit, governments around the world moved to get the spread of the virus under control. Restrictions on travel, employment, recreation, and groups meeting together were instituted in many places.

And through this time, some of these measures have been rather unusual. One company, called Draganfly, has developed drones that can be used to detect sick people even from above. Here is how the CEO of Draganfly describes his company’s product:

“What these cameras can do is actually detect fever, which is very different than detecting just temperature…. They can detect sneezing. They can detect your heart rate, your respiratory rate, and they can also detect social distancing” (“Coronavirus News: Pandemic drones to monitor fever, Crowds from above,” WABC-TV, ABC7NY.com, April 15, 2020).

Quite a remarkable device. But some ask, is this technology a little alarming? When a drone, without your consent, determines if you have a fever? Is Big Brother here now?

Let’s get a little perspective. It’s not a great sacrifice to stay six feet away from others, or wear a mask. And it’s a good idea to wash our hands. Christians should do what we can to protect our neighbors and our families. Jesus explained that in Matthew 22:39, when He said, “…love your neighbor as yourself.” Paul also exhorted Christians to obey the government, as long as it doesn’t cause us to disobey God. As stated in Romans 13:1, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities….”

And yet, some of these COVID-19 restrictions seem to be going further than anything we’ve ever seen. Perhaps that’s why some evangelicals make a direct connection between the recent government actions and the biblical mark of the beast. Notice this article from Yahoo.com on May 14, 2020. The author says that some evangelical pastors have claimed that the government is creating…

“…implantable microchips that could be used to control the population under the guise of tracking COVID-19 infections and immunity…” (Some evangelicals fear the ‘mark of the beast’ from a coronavirus vaccine,” News.Yahoo.com, May 14, 2020).

Are we seeing the mark of the beast? Is it being introduced now, under the guise of COVID-19 monitoring? Has Big Brother arrived?

Let’s be clear. There will always be evil actors who seek to gain power through any means. But Revelation 13’s description of the mark of the beast is something on a totally different level. COVID-19 treatments or policies are not the mark of the beast.

With that said, it is a little unnerving that health officials are using technology that is ever-more intrusive. For example, a crucial element of fighting any contagious disease is contact tracing. That means, when someone gets sick, health officials interview the sick person to find out who they have been in contact with. They then can track down others who might be infected. Knowing who’s been infected allows you to know who to quarantine. And quarantine is not a bad word—it’s a biblical principle used to contain contagious diseases.

But new technology even available on a cell phone takes this tracking process to a totally new level. It’s something that George Orwell might have envisioned in his novel. Consider this report from Amnesty International:

“Media reports suggest that Ecuador’s government has authorized GPS tracking to enforce compliance to quarantine. The Israeli authorities’ move to permit the security service to use cell phone data of infected persons has already raised privacy concerns…. In South Korea, authorities have been sending health advisory texts which have been accompanied with personal details of infected patients…” (“COVID-19, surveillance and the threat to your rights,” Amnesty.org, April 3, 2020).

In other words, some governments are controlling and even distributing very personal, private information, such as health records. As the website goes on:

“Once personal data is collected, there is a real danger of it being shared and used for purposes other than health tracking.”

COVID-19 tracking efforts are not the mark of the beast. Social Security numbers or implanted chips are not the mark of the beast. However, it’s not hard to imagine the beast power deploying technology similar to what’s being developed today. Today it’s used to save lives. Tomorrow, it may be used to take lives.

Have We Willingly Brought “Big Data” Into Our Lives?

So, maybe a Big Brother type of society is starting to develop. The COVID-19 crisis does seem to show technology being developed and used in more invasive ways than ever before. But before we sound the alarm, let’s take a step back and ask ourselves, what was our tech like before the coronavirus?

In December of 2019, a New York Times opinion piece appeared, entitled “Total Surveillance Is Not What America Signed Up For.”

“Your smartphone can broadcast your exact location thousands of times per day, through hundreds of apps, instantaneously to dozens of different companies. Each of those companies has the power to follow individual mobile phones wherever they go, in near-real time. That’s not a glitch in the system. It is the system. If the government ordered Americans to continuously provide such precise, real-time information about themselves, there would be a revolt…. Yet, as a society, without ever focusing on this profound choice, we’ve reached a tacit consensus to hand this data over voluntarily, even though we don’t really know who’s getting it or what they’re doing with it…” (NYTimes.com, December 21, 2019).

The article concludes that maybe this decade, that began roughly around the time when the App Store was founded, in 2008, will be remembered as the decade in which we were brainwashed into surveilling ourselves.

If you have a Smartphone, this tiny computer you carry around in your pocket is sending all kinds of information about you to people you don’t even know. Information about your private emails, your buying patterns, photos of you and children, and even your health information, if you have a device that collects it. We would never consent to this much private information about us going out, if it weren’t so convenient for our lifestyle.

In January of 2019, Fox Business host Stuart Varney made this assessment:

“You’ve heard the expression, ‘Big Brother.’ It’s taken from George Orwell’s book ‘1984’…. News flash, Big Brother has arrived. Big Brother is already watching you. On our program recently, China watcher Michael Pillsbury described a global surveillance system, using facial recognition, which allows the Chinese government to watch anyone, anywhere, in real time. If that’s not a modern day Big Brother, I don’t know what is!” “Big Brother is already watching us: Varney,” FoxBusiness.com, January 30, 2019).

Maybe Big Brother was already beginning to take shape in our society before COVID-19 arrived. In one of the great ironies of our time, maybe we are welcoming him into our lives in exchange for the conveniences of tech. Consider some more examples of our labor-saving smart devices today.

“We’ve also learned that Amazon’s home helper, Alexa, can listen in to what you’re saying, even when Alexa has not been asked a question: She’s always listening. Google operates Gmail, the very widely used email service. Google reads those emails…. Apple’s FaceTime has a bug that allows people to eavesdrop. Facebook knows everything about everyone. They’re following you. I wish I could say there’s a way out of all this, but I don’t think there is. We’ve opened the surveillance box and we can’t close it up….”

No, Google is not the beast and the App Store is not where you get the mark. However, could the technology we’re using daily, which we become dependent on, be preparing us to be manipulated when the dark days do come? What if it’s not Google that’s scanning our emails for marketing purposes, but censorship officials ordered to keep our messages politically correct? Could this happen?

In the book of Daniel, the prophet was given a glimpse of the world of the end-times. Among other things, this is what he recorded:

Daniel 12:4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

“Data” is the buzzword today. Companies are in a race to find ways to mine data and use data, to get consumers what they want before their competitors do. And we as consumers are happy to oblige them with ever more reams of data. All in the name of tech with newer, smarter functions. Knowledge is increasing.

Now is technology bad? Not necessarily. We use technology in this Work, and it helps us in our efforts. To a certain degree, if we live in this world, we have to use the technology of this world. When Jesus prayed for His disciples, before His crucifixion, notice what He said:

John 17:15 “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.”

We live and function in this world. But we should be bond slaves of God, not slaves of our devices. We should be careful to protect our personal information, educating ourselves in how to do so. We should be wary of scam artists, and protect our passwords. We should remember that for every new feature that requires more information, we’re making a tradeoff. We’re allowing a growing presence of invasive technology into our lives. Where will that take us in the future?

No, the beast has not yet arrived. But it is coming. And our society is being conditioned for its coming, and the stripping of personal freedoms that will be a part of society, when the mark of the beast is enforced.

The Beast Has Not Arrived Yet. What Can YOU Do to Prepare?

So, what should you do? At the beginning of this program, we saw that the Bible shows that the two beasts of Revelation 13 will arise, and unsuspecting masses will be coerced to taking the mark of the beast. That’s a mark that will identify a person as belonging to that system. But the prophet Ezekiel gives us some helpful clues on how to be identified with God’s mark, instead.

In Ezekiel chapter 9, God gave Ezekiel a sobering look at the destruction of Jerusalem that was coming in his time. Let’s read it in Ezekiel 9:4:

“And the LORD said to him, ‘Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it. To the others He said in my hearing, ‘Go after him through the city and kill… but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark…’” (Ezekiel 9:4–6).

As our society descends into immorality and corruption, we need to take Ezekiel’s vision as a warning as well. When God allows the Big Brother society of the beasts of Revelation to descend on this world, He will provide a shield for His faithful and zealous people. What should Christians do? We need to take sin seriously. It’s because of sin that God will allow our lands to be punished. If you can see the writing on the wall, get on your knees and pray to God about it. Ask Him to intervene. Ask Him to guide our leaders. But most of all, ask God for help to not be deceived. Because these coming world dictators are going to deceive many, if not most.

The beast of Revelation has a mark. But God has a mark that He marks His people with. What is it? If we want to be protected in the coming years, we must accept the shed blood of Christ for our sins, we must be led by God’s Spirit, and we must keep His commandments. We find that one of God’s commandments is specifically mentioned as a sign between God and His people.

Turn to Ezekiel 20:15, where we find a description of the sins of the nation of Israel before it collapsed. Can we learn the lessons of judgment that came upon that land? Read it with me in Ezekiel 20:15:

“So I also raised My hand in an oath to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands, because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols” (Ezekiel 20:15–16).

Have we in the Western world come to the point where many of us despise the laws of God? These commandments that God gave, saying this is how you will live, and thrive, and prosper? Do we now hold these words in contempt? Ezekiel 20:18:

“But I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols. I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them; hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God’” (Ezekiel 20:18–20).

Did you catch that? God told His people to love Him, to love their neighbors, to obey His commandments, including His sabbaths. And His sabbaths—which means the seventh day sabbath, and the annual holy days—would be a marker between God and His people. How is it that we take on the mark of God? We walk with God, we accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we repent of our sins, and we commit to keeping His holy sabbaths.

The Big Brother society of George Orwell’s “1984” is not here yet. But there are signs that it is coming. Now’s the time to show our loyalty and faithfulness to God. Now’s the time to turn to Him with all of our hearts. In the dark days ahead, we want God to mark us as His people, His children, who have His Spirit, and His protection. Today’s intrusive tech is nothing compared to what is coming as Big Brother arrives. What do we do? We put our faith and our trust in God. He is our shield and our great reward in times of trouble.

Hiroshima and the Beginning of the Atomic Age

August 6, 2020, marked the 75th anniversary of one of the most dramatic events in human history: The dropping of the atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. That tragedy signified not only the coming end of a terrible and destructive war, but also a new phase in the fulfillment of Bible prophecies.

Join us now on Tomorrow’s World as we look at Hiroshima, 75 years later.

Astonishing Destructive Power to Destroy Mankind

Greetings, and welcome to another edition of Tomorrow’s World. I’m glad you’re here.

Today we are going back to the bombing of Hiroshima, three-quarters of a century ago. We’re going to examine the implications of that event in Bible prophecy--and we’re going to look at how developments since Hiroshima contribute to the picture.

We will pause occasionally to give you the opportunity to request today’s free DVD, “Escape the Great Tribulation.” Be sure to note the contact information on your screen so you can get your free copy.

The years since World War II continue to fly by, and few remember its details. But the details are important. If you were there in September of 1939, you’d see Germany’s invasion of Poland. And you’d see Poland resisting, with soldiers on horseback--commanding multiple cavalries in their nation’s defense. Fast forward to the FINAL military actions of the war, and you would see the mushroom clouds of atomic explosions over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

In only SIX YEARS, mankind progressed from warring on horseback, as it had done for millennia, to unleashing the power of the atom in a single, horrific weapon, capable of desolating entire cities in an instant. It’s hard to think of a more astonishing example of humanity’s capacity to grow in wreaking death, havoc, and destruction on itself.

Hiroshima represented a terrible turning point.

Of course, as long as man has explored science, he has used his discoveries to invent new ways to kill his fellow man--and the atomic bomb that devastated Hiroshima was a weapon unlike any other that man had ever unleashed. Code-named “Little Boy” by its creators, the atomic bomb took advantage of Einstein’s discovery of the equivalence of matter and energy. That is, matter can be converted into energy and energy can be converted into matter. In the case of Little Boy, the bomb contained 64 kilograms of uranium-235--a radioactive element the bomb mechanism could use to create a chain reaction, causing some of the atoms to split into smaller atoms in a matter of milliseconds. The splitting of these atoms converted some of the matter into energy, releasing the same destructive power as 16,000 TONS of TNT.

Surprisingly, the amount of converted matter needed to produce such a blast was equivalent to less than a single paperclip.

But what a blast it was. Almost all city structures within a mile radius of ground zero were completely destroyed--many by the initial blast, and others by the resulting firestorm that covered more than four square miles.

For various reasons, the numbers are hard to fix. But estimates of the number killed instantly in Hiroshima lie in the neighborhood of 70 to 80,000 people, with tens of thousands more dying in the weeks to come from radiation, burns, and injuries.

After the Hiroshima bombing, President Harry Truman addressed the American people, explaining, concerning the Japanese, “If they do not now accept our terms, they may expect a rain of ruin from the air, the like of which has never been seen on this earth”

When no surrender came, another bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Nagasaki three days later, and another 40 to 80,000 deaths were added to the toll. Five days afterward, the Japanese surrendered unconditionally.

Mankind had tapped into some of the most primal forces of nature and unleashed them in the most destructive of ways.

The two attacks themselves do not figure into prophecy beyond how the events of World War II reconfigured world powers. However, the events of Hiroshima and Nagasaki do have prophetic significance that should not be overlooked.

In Matthew 24, Jesus Christ tells of a time still ahead of us, but not TOO far ahead of us, in which civilization takes a dark turn. After warning Christians to pray for God’s help in the time to come, He says,

“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.” [vv. 21–22]

Note that. Jesus said that there would come a time unique in all of human history, involving “great tribulation.” How bad would things get? Again, He says in verse 22 that “…unless those days were shortened, NO FLESH WOULD BE SAVED….”

Until August 6, 1945, it might have been hard for the public to imagine conflict, warfare, and weapons so devastating that they would have the potential to wipe out ALL LIVING THINGS, such that “NO FLESH WOULD BE SAVED.” But after the bombing of Hiroshima, that verse--and that prophecy--began to take on new possibilities.

Human self-annihilation suddenly seemed not so hard to imagine.

But the story does not stop there. Now that the powers of the atom were unleashed, they would not be caged again. Soon, the largest and deadliest weapons ever wielded in warfare would become relative child’s play.

Nuclear Proliferation and the Race to Annihilation

In creating atomic weapons, man had learned to direct some of the most fundamental forces of nature toward destroying his fellow man.

But even then, mankind was not satisfied with the level of destruction it had attained. The 75 years that have followed the destruction of those cities saw an escalation of destructive power that boggles the mind--and makes prophetic fulfillment that much easier to believe.

Not content to allow the United States sole possession of the most devastating weapon in existence, four years after Hiroshima the Soviet Union tested its own atomic weapon, named “First Lightning”--though called “Joe-1” by the U.S., after Joseph Stalin. Soon afterward the race was on, as the United States and the Soviet Union superpowers sought to create increasingly powerful weapons over the course of the Cold War to ensure that their enemy did not get the upper hand.

While atomic weapons generated their destructive power through fission, splitting atoms into smaller atoms, even greater power was available through FUSION--combining two atoms into one. This is the very process that powers the sun above our heads! A fusion-based nuclear weapon--called a thermonuclear bomb, or “hydrogen bomb”--carried the capacity to be far more powerful than its simpler progenitors. And both the U.S. and the Soviet Union raced to develop the most plentiful stockpile of the most powerful bombs.

Consider the scale of these evolving weapons.

The atomic bomb the U.S. dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 had the power of about 16 kilotons of TNT, generating a mushroom cloud that extended a little more than 11 miles upward. In 1952, the U.S. tested Ivy Mike--its first fusion-based thermonuclear, hydrogen bomb. Ivy Mike yielded an explosion of around 10 MEGAtons of TNT. That would be 10 Million tons of TNT. It was followed in 1954 by a test of Castle Bravo, which yielded an explosion equal to 15 megatons of TNT. That’s almost 1,000 TIMES STRONGER than the weapon dropped on Hiroshima! The Castle Bravo mushroom cloud reached about 25 miles, or 40 kilometers into the air.

Not to be outdone, in October 1961, the Soviet Union tested a thermonuclear weapon they dubbed Ivan, or Vanya, though in the West it has been referred to simply as Tsar Bomba. The source of the largest man-made explosion in human history, Tsar Bomba yielded an explosive force of 50 megatons of TNT! That’s more than 3,000 times stronger than the bomb that obliterated Hiroshima! In fact, the DESIGN of Tsar Bomba was intended for a 100-megaton blast, and it was only detonated at half of its power.

The mushroom cloud formed by Tsar Bomba reached more than 40 MILES into the atmosphere--a testimony to the forces man was learning to unleash.

At their peaks, the United States commanded an arsenal of about 31,255 nuclear warheads, and the Soviet Union, about 45,000.

And each side was prepared to use them. Gerald Weston, Executive Producer of Tomorrow’s World, wrote a fascinating article for the March-April 2020 Tomorrow’s World magazine in which he detailed just how close the Cold War came to an all-out nuclear exchange of nightmare proportions. In that article, he provides details about the United States’ Single Integrated Operational Plan, or SIOP, in which, responding to a nuclear attack from the Soviets, the U. S. would fire EVERY weapon at its disposal, in an effort to destroy the Soviet Union, China, and certain other Communist nations in one, single strike. His article can be read online at TomorrowsWorld.org, and it is a thrilling read.

But our journey from Hiroshima hardly stops there. See, the laws of physics don’t just work in two competing nations. They work everywhere. And once how to unleash the atom’s destructive power was clear, MANY nations wanted in on the game.

In July 2019, the Arms Control Association reported on the estimated nuclear arsenal of nine nations:

  • (The) United States: 6,185 (warheads)
  • (The) United Kingdom: 200
  • France: 300
  • Israel: 90
  • Pakistan: 160
  • India: 140
  • Russia: 6,490
  • China: 290
  • (and) North Korea: 30

(“Nuclear weapons: Who Has What At A Glance,” Arms Control Association, ArmsControl.org/factsheets, July, 2019).

This list does not include nations such as Iran and others who have either expressed interest in nuclear weapons programs or who are suspected of having such programs.

These weapons, so horrific in their ability to destroy human life, are now in the hands of multiple governments with multiple motives. The more nations possess them, the higher the risk that they WILL be used--whether purposefully or accidentally.

AND the higher the risk that OTHER factions will get their hands on them. Some of these nations are suspected of dealing with terrorist organizations, who only need material and opportunity to develop their own weapons.

With the ability of rogue agents to create a nuclear device and set it off in a major metropolitan area--or even a so-called “dirty bomb” that does not destroy buildings, but spreads deadly radiation--the odds of a future nuclear event seem only to increase.

One would think that the ability to devastate entire cities in a single attack, let alone the ability to launch hundreds, or even thousands of such attacks at once, would satisfy humanity’s desire to be capable of causing damage, but it does not. And prophecy offers some insight into what sorts of attacks we may see in the future. We will look at that in our next segment.

War and Devastation on a Prophetic Scale

In our last segment we talked about the massive proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world and the raw destructive power they represent. And someone reading Bible prophecy would have to admit that the devastation wrought by nuclear weapons such as those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki correspond well to biblical descriptions of prophesied destruction.

Consider God’s warning to various nations today, such as Great Britain, the United States, and other British-descended nations, recorded in Ezekiel 6 and verse 6:

“In all your dwelling places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate, so that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, your idols may be broken and made to cease, your incense altars may be cut down, and your works may be abolished.”

He says similarly in chapter 12 and verse 20,

“Then the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall become desolate; and you shall know that I am the LORD.”

It is noteworthy that nuclear strikes have the capacity to not only lay waste to entire cities, but also to render areas uninhabitable for a time due to radioactivity. And Revelation chapter 9 speaks of an exchange between two armies involving fire, smoke, and brimstone that will contribute to the killing of one-third of mankind. [vv. 17–18] One cannot help but note similarities between elements of these descriptions and an exchange of nuclear weaponry.

Still, why limit our consideration to nuclear weaponry? Far from being SATISFIED with “nuking” each other back to the stone age, mankind has continued to invent ever more terrible ways to kill during the 75 years since Hiroshima. When it comes to the desire to destroy his fellow man, man’s imagination knows virtually no limits.

Consider CHEMICAL weapons. The use of chemicals in warfare has a long history, but as man advances scientifically and technologically, so does his ability to create and disseminate these terrible weapons. Nerve agents can kill or permanently damage by attacking individuals’ nervous systems in horrific and painful ways. Other chemicals have the ability to blind, maim, burn the lungs, or horribly disfigure the body.

Consider BIOLOGICAL weapons, as well. The bacteria responsible for anthrax--capable of causing terrible blisters, fever, and pain--has been used in conflicts before, including terrorist attacks in the United States in 2001 that killed five people. Now, with the ability to manipulate organisms at the level of DNA, biological weapons look poised to be a formidable source of death and suffering.

And compare these, too, to prophecies of the days ahead of us. In Revelation 9, Jesus inspires John to write of weapons that will torment men, but not necessarily kill them:

“And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.” [vv. 5–6]

And the fourth of the famous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, described in Revelation 6, symbolizes disease and pestilence, which contribute to the death of one-fourth of mankind during events that include the Great Tribulation. [Revelation 6:8]

Could chemical or biological weaponry play a role in these future plagues and sufferings? Only time will tell.

What we DO know is serious enough. Let’s return to Jesus’ statement about the Great Tribulation in Matthew 24. There, He says, “For then there will be great tribulation, SUCH AS HAS NOT BEEN SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD UNTIL THIS TIME, NO, NOR EVER SHALL BE.” [v. 21]

We MUST pay attention to this! Jesus Christ, the Savior, the Son of God, is GUARANTEEING TO US that there is a time of suffering coming that is so deadly and destructive there has NEVER BEEN A TIME LIKE IT, nor will there EVER BE ONE AGAIN!

Do we understand what that means? That means worse than the Holocaust of World War II. Worse than Hiroshima. Worse than Nagasaki. Worse than the Killing Fields of the Khmer Rouge. Worse than the purges, mass murders, and forced starvation under Joseph Stalin. Man will inflict on himself suffering, pain, and warfare that will dwarf these other circumstances.

Yes, it is easy to imagine that we have become more civilized in the 75 years since Hiroshima. But truth be told, we are no more civilized now than we were then. And mankind is poised to do to the entire world what it once did to two Japanese cities in 1945.

But, if this is, indeed, prophesied to happen, is there anything we can DO about it? Am I, are you, just fated to have to endure these things? Or can we save our lives--our children’s lives? Can we escape from what’s coming?

YES WE CAN! And we will discuss HOW in the last, brief segment of our program.

Mankind’s Savior Saves us from OURSELVES

We began our discussion today with the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, just over 75 years ago now. Civilization still debates whether the bombing of those two cities was justified or not. Yet there is NO debate that our capacity to cause death and destruction has only grown over those 75 years, to the point that Hiroshima and Nagasaki look small and tame by comparison to the suffering we can cause now.

And prophecy guarantees us that a time is coming when the suffering mankind inflicts upon itself--through warfare, violence, destruction, pestilence, and disease--will be the worst it has ever been in the entirety of human history--a time when, unless God intervenes, Jesus says NO FLESH shall be saved alive.

What can we do as such events rush toward us, full tilt, with the winds of prophecy at their backs?

Thankfully, Jesus didn’t simply foretell the future. He also taught us what to do about it.

In Luke 21, Jesus tells us to watch the times in which we live--and to watch ourselves--and to act:

“Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” [v. 36]

He describes those who fall short of being worthy in many passages, such as Luke 6:46, asking us,

“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?”

And His apostle John elaborates, telling us in 1 John 2:4 that

“He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”

The answer isn’t a bomb shelter or moving away from civilization, physically prepping for “doomsday.” The way to prepare for the times ahead, and be counted worthy by God to escape these things, is simply to repent. To watch the times we are in, watch ourselves, and commit our lives to obeying God and His commandments under Jesus Christ. And to whatever extent you want to do those things, we here at Tomorrow’s World are ready to help.

That includes sending you today’s free DVD, “Escape the Great Tribulation,” so don’t forget to order your copy!

Jeremiah's Amazing Commission

Bible Prophecies Being Fulfilled

The Biblical prophet Jeremiah has an amazing message for our world, especially the English-speaking world. Why is it that so few know about this man when 52 chapters in the Bible cover some forty years of his life? What do you personally know about him? Do you know to whom his prophecies were directed? Do you know the time of their fulfillment? And do you know Jeremiah’s warnings for us today?

Stay with me here at Tomorrow’s World, because I’ll be explaining one of the most amazing prophecies ever given through a human being. It’s a shocking and fascinating story that explains much of what we see in today’s world. This is news that you need to hear. So, stay with me as I’ll be back in a moment!

Jeremiah the Prophet

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World, where today I’m going to give you fascinating information from the Bible that I’m sure most of you have never heard. And it’s important information that is affecting your life right now.

If you were to ask many young people today who Jeremiah was, they would likely think of a silly song and reply “a bullfrog.” But the prophet Jeremiah was no bullfrog, and he didn’t proclaim a silly song. His message came from God, and we will see those predictions being fulfilled right before our very eyes.

God called Jeremiah while he was young, probably in his teen years. He describes himself as “a youth,” and he prophesied about 40 years.

In Jeremiah chapter 1 and verse 5, we read of how important this man was to God.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).

Then comes God’s commission to Jeremiah. This is something, my friends, that people read right over and never think twice. For that matter, they probably never stop to consider, even once, what these words mean:

“Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant” (Jeremiah 1:9–10).

Jeremiah wasn’t a man spewing personal opinion. He had a commission from God. And it would be God’s words in his mouth. But,

What does it mean to be set over nations and Kingdoms?

What does it mean to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down?

What was meant by, to build and to plant?

The first point is understandable. While Jeremiah’s messages were clearly for the Jews and the city of Jerusalem for the time in which he lived, his messages go far beyond that. He prophesied against Egypt and Babylon, Moab, Damascus, and more. We read these prophecies in chapters 46 through 51, and the timing of some of them was for a long time into the future, as seen from these statements:

“But it shall come to pass in the latter days…” (Jeremiah 49:39)

“‘Yet I will bring back the captives of Moab in the latter days,’ says the LORD…” (Jeremiah 48:47).

Perhaps the most famous passage that applied to the future is that of the promised New Covenant. Paul speaks of this is Hebrews 8, but he quotes directly from Jeremiah 31. I’ll only read a portion of this for the sake of time:

“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah…. I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts… I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more” (Jeremiah 31:31, 33, 34).

Clearly, Jeremiah’s prophecies were for far more than his nation or for his time, but what does it mean in the commission that he would, “root out and pull down, destroy and throw down, build and plant?”

The Children of Israel Still Exist!

We are looking today at Jeremiah’s amazing commission. So far, we’ve seen that he was a prophet for more than his own people and for more than his time. Let’s review God’s commission to Jeremiah as given in the first chapter of the book by his name and in verse 10:

“See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the Kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant” (Jeremiah 1:10).

Jeremiah was to prophesy the destruction of his own nation, how it was going to be pulled down, destroyed, and thrown down. This also applied to other nations, but what was meant by,

“…to build and to plant”?

It’s impossible to understand this without knowing something that few people are ever taught in their churches today. Only those who read the Bible, and in this case, what is called the Old Testament, can understand. Yes, it’s impossible to really understand Biblical prophecy, and the full message of the Bible, without this knowledge. And yet it’s right there in front of us, and as John Ogywn titles the Preface to his booklet on The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy,

The Lost Master Key – Found!

So let’s go back to Jeremiah’s prophecy regarding the New Covenant and look at the obvious. This time I’ll read from the Apostle Paul in the book of Hebrews, chapter 8:

“…Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah…” (Hebrew 8:8).

What is the obvious in this passage of scripture? Simply put: We are reading here of two separate nations—the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Now why is this important? The beginning book of the Bible known as Genesis clearly shows that God was working through one man and his family and gave great and wonderful promises to that family. Here is the beginning of those promises as given to Abram, if he left his country and his father’s house:

“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:2–3).

Perhaps this chart will clarify what I am describing. Abram’s name was later changed to Abraham, and he had two sons of significance: Ishmael and Isaac. The descendants of these two sons have been at war in the Middle East for centuries. According to the Bible, the promises to Abraham were expanded and made more specific through Isaac and his descendants.

Abraham’s son Isaac had two sons: Jacob and Esau. Their descendants are also part of the problem in the Middle East. And Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, had twelve sons. The firstborn was Reuben. Judah and Joseph were two other sons among the twelve. Judah is the father of the Jews. God’s spiritual and physical blessings were divided between Judah and Joseph. Note this clear and amazing statement in 1 Chronicles 5 and verses 1 and 2:

“Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel—he was indeed the firstborn, but because he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, so that the genealogy is not listed according to the birthright; yet Judah prevailed over his brothers, and from him came a ruler, although the birthright was Joseph’s…” (1 Chronicles 5:1–2).

Why is this important? Most church going people have no idea that the terms Israelite and Jew are not synonymous. People think the terms are entirely the same, but as we are seeing, one promise went to the Jews while another promise went to an entirely different tribe of Israel. Also, again, church goers are often ignorant of the fact that the promises to Israel are only partially fulfilled in Christ. Now that is the most important promise, of course, but not the only one.

Most professing Christians are aware of the spiritual promise of grace through Jesus Christ, but after a short break, we’ll look at some of the physical promises made to the children of Israel, and knowing what they are, brings our modern world to life.

A Scepter of Promise

As we’ve seen, Judah was given the promise of a ruler that we understand to be that of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ. But it was more than a single king. It was a dynasty of kings that would continue throughout time. In the 49th chapter of Genesis, we see Israel predicting what would become of his sons at the end of the age. Notice the time setting in verse 1:

“And Jacob [Israel] called his sons and said, ‘Gather together, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days’” (Genesis 49:1).

As part of Judah’s blessing we read the following in verse 10:

“The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people” (Genesis 49:10).

The marginal reference says that a scepter is, quote: “a symbol of kingship.” Shiloh is a reference to the Messiah. Great emphasis in the Bible is put on the dynasty of David, but many casual readers and scholars believe that his dynasty ended when the house of Judah fell and went into Babylonish captivity. And here is where the prophet Jeremiah comes in, but first let’s notice this dynastic promise made to David in 2 Samuel 7:

“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever” (2 Samuel 7:12–13).

Now some people think that this promise was conditional on obedience of the kings to follow, but this is not the case. Neither was this promise of establishing his throne forever referring to the Messiah. Yes, the Messiah, Jesus Christ is the ultimate fulfillment, but the promise as stated here refers to physical kings ruling from generation to generation. How can we be so sure of this? Well, notice these strong words that follow in verses 14–16:

“…If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever” (2 Samuel 7:14–16).

Did Christ commit iniquity or sin? Not hardly, or He could not be our Savior! So this was talking about David’s dynasty, that it would be established forever. This promise is also recorded in the 89th Psalm.

“Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David: His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me; it shall be established forever like the moon, even like the faithful witness in the sky” (Psalm 89:35–37).

Do you see that, my friends? God swore by His holiness; He would not lie to David. As sure as the sun and the moon, His seed would have an everlasting throne. So why do people think it ceased to exist from around 586 B.C. until the coming of Christ some 600 years later? And did Jesus come as a king sitting on the throne of David at that time?

Now we come back to Jeremiah’s amazing commission. After about 40 years of warning the Jews that destruction was on the way unless they repented, the end finally came. In the 9th year of king Zedekiah, Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar besieged the city of Jerusalem and, two-and-a-half years later, breached the walls. Seeing the inevitable, King Zedekiah and the men of war attempted to escape by night, but were captured. What happened next we read in Jeremiah 39:6–7:

“Then the king of Babylon killed the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes in Riblah; the king of Babylon also killed all the nobles of Judah. Moreover he put out Zedekiah’s eyes, and bound him with bronze fetters to carry him off to Babylon” (Jeremiah 39:6–7).

Thus ended David’s dynasty…or so people think. But now we come to one of the most amazing truths of scripture that is almost universally overlooked. If you can stop the sun or moon from coming up, then the covenant God made with David can be broken—so say the scriptures! But before we get to the most interesting part of this story, let me give you another part that anyone who reads his Bible should know.

After the twelve tribes of Israel came out of Egypt, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years before entering the promised land. They were ruled as a theocracy, until the people demanded a king like all the nations around them and a man by the name of Saul was chosen. But Saul disobeyed God, and when he died, David became king. David’s son Solomon followed him, but in his later years Solomon turned away from obedience to God and God fulfilled what we read earlier would happen if David’s son disobeyed. Ten of the twelve tribes of Israel rebelled against Solomon’s son, King Rehoboam. Thus the nation was divided into two—the house of Judah and the ten-tribe house of Israel. They never again were united. What people call Israel today is made up of Jews, along with the tribe of Benjamin and some from the tribe of Levi.

In the course of time, the house of Israel went into captivity to the Assyrians. One hundred years later the house of Judah (the Jews) went into Babylonian captivity. And that brings us to how Jeremiah’s strange commission was fulfilled, just as God said it would be.

But before giving you the details of this absolutely fascinating story, I want to remind you again of today’s offer: The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy. It’s given absolutely free of charge as others have already paid for it. Even the shipping and handling is without cost to you, so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

The Throne of Judah: Moved, But NOT Lost!

I left you with the explanation that the Israelite nation was divided in two. The ten tribes that broke off from king David’s grandson formed a new nation known as the house of Israel. They went into captivity around 720 B.C. and never returned to the land now called Israel. The Jews and Benjamites, along with some from the tribe of Levi, were known as the nation or the house of Judah, and went into captivity to Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon. Now we pick up the story from Jeremiah.

About a year and a half before the fall of Jerusalem in 586 B.C., Jeremiah gave a prophecy from prison. He spoke of a time when both houses would return.

“And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first” (Jeremiah 33:7).

The entire 33rd chapter is filled with good news.

“‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah’” (Jeremiah 33:14).

And then he gave a remarkable prophecy. If a prophet of God was ever wrong, Jeremiah must have been, for notice what he predicted less than a year from what appeared to be the end of David’s dynasty.

“For thus says the LORD: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel’…. ‘Thus says the LORD: ‘If you can break My covenant with the day and My covenant with the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant, so that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levites, the priests, My ministers’” (Jeremiah 33:17, 19–21).

And if that were not clear enough, he went on to say:

“If My covenant is not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob” (Jeremiah 33:25–26).

Again, these bold predictions were made a year or less before David’s dynasty, in the minds of most scholars, ceased to exist. Never again did the Jews have a Jewish king ruling over them, except for Christ who was born to be king and will return to take over David’s throne in the future, for as we are told in Zechariah 14:9:

“And the LORD shall be King over all the earth…” (Zechariah 14:9)

The context is clear. It is talking about a time yet to come. Don’t believe me just because I say this. Read the whole of Zechariah 14 for yourself.

Were God’s predictions through Jeremiah wrong? Or are we missing something? As we have seen, Zedekiah was taken into captivity and all his sons, heirs to the throne, were killed. But, notice this little known detail! Those who were not taken captive to Babylon were taken to Egypt. You can read of this in Jeremiah chapters 41 through 43. We are told specifically that among those who were taken to Egypt, were:

“…the king’s daughters…and Jeremiah the prophet and [Jeremiah’s scribe] Baruch…” (Jeremiah 43:6).

Now let’s go back to God’s predictions through Jeremiah. Notice carefully where He says David’s throne would be—no longer over the house of Judah (the Jews), but over the house of Israel! That is the northern ten-tribed nation!

“For thus says the LORD: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel’…. ‘If My covenant is not with day and night…then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob’” (Jeremiah 33:17, 25–26).

Remember that Jeremiah’s commission was:

To root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down

And also,

To build and to plant

David’s throne was pulled down and planted in another nation and the evidence is with us today. Sadly, I’m out of time, but the story of how God, through Jeremiah the prophet, fulfilled His prediction is found in our publication, The United States and Great Britain in Prophecy. Truly truth is stranger than fiction.

Be sure to come back next week at this same time when Richard Ames, Wallace Smith, Rod McNair, and I will continue to share with you the teachings of Jesus Christ, the good news of the coming Kingdom of God, and the exciting end-time prophecies and their meaning. See you then.

A “Day” Like No Other

More than 30 prophecies in your Bible describe an awesome event that will rock the whole world. It’s called the DAY OF THE LORD. It will shake all nations and all peoples on earth. It will affect you and your family if you are alive to see it.

Just WHAT IS the DAY OF THE LORD? Is it a day of the week? How long will it last? Just HOW will it affect every nation and person on earth? What will it mean in the flow of Bible prophecy? The book of Revelation introduces the Day of the Lord with dramatic cosmic disturbances. “The stars of heaven” fall to the earth. The sun becomes black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon becomes like blood. There is a great earthquake. As it tells us in Revelation 6:14, “every mountain and island was moved out of its place.”

These heavenly signs are just the INTRODUCTION to the dramatic Day of the Lord. Will you be able to survive this convulsive and dangerous time? You need to know. The prophetic Day of the Lord will set the stage for the greatest and most encouraging event in modern history, the return of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. My friends, you need to understand this mysterious time period that will affect every human being on earth! Just what IS the Day of the Lord?

Stay tuned

The Day of the Lord IS Coming!

Warm greetings to all our friends around the world!

There’s a MAJOR PROPHETIC EVENT looming on the horizon. It’s called: THE DAY OF THE LORD. The great prophets of the Bible, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel wrote about it. The so-called Minor Prophets, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Zephaniah, Zechariah, and Malachi, also emphasized this event. Even the Apostles Peter, Paul, and John wrote about it.

Just WHAT is the Day of the Lord? And HOW does it fit into the FRAMEWORK of Bible Prophecy? More than 30 prophecies in YOUR BIBLE refer to the DAY OF THE LORD. On today’s program, we’ll answer the question, “Just WHAT IS the DAY OF THE LORD?” And we’ll be offering you a free audio compact disc that will help you in your study of Bible prophecy. Be sure to write down the phone number and contact information to order your free copy. You can also order this free audio compact disc on our Web site at TomorrowsWorld.org. This free one-hour audio compact disc “THE DAY OF THE LORD” covers much more information than we have time for in this program. Be sure to request your free copy.

If you have your Bible, turn to the Book of REVELATION, CHAPTER ONE. The Apostle John writes in REVELATION, the FIRST CHAPTER, VERSE 10, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet.”

John is NOT speaking of a day of the WEEK. He is speaking of the prophetic period of time described in the rest of the book as the Prophetic DAY OF THE LORD. John is NOT referring to Sunday. If he were, he would have referred to Sunday as “the first day” of the week as he did in the Gospel of John. Jesus Himself said He was Lord of the Sabbath, as it tells us in Mark 2:28! The expression “Lord’s Day” here in Revelation refers to the THEME of the whole book, the prophetic Day of the Lord, culminating in the return of Jesus Christ!

In Revelation CHAPTER FIVE, we read about a scroll sealed with seven seals. Jesus, the Revelator, opens the seals to the book. We read the description of these seals in Revelation the sixth chapter. The first four seals are known as the FOUR HORSEMEN of the Apocalypse. THE FIRST HORSE, the white horse and its rider, represent false religions, false Christs. Jesus Himself points out the sequence of these end-time events in the Olivet prophecy in Matthew 24. We’ve explained this convergence in previous programs. The second seal reveals a horseman riding a red horse with the power to take peace from the earth. The third seal presents a rider on a black horse representing the scarcity of food and resulting famine. The fourth seal shows a rider on a pale horse named “DEATH” “and power was given to them [the four horsemen] over” ONE FOURTH of the earth to kill major populations. Jesus also spoke of the pestilence that normally follows on the heels of famine.

Critics say there has always been war, famine, and pestilence. Our world has experienced epidemics and pandemics over the centuries. Now, mankind faces the challenge of trying to contain a virus more deadly than the SARS virus that spread around the world in 2003. COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, has caused panic, sickness, and death. But a time is coming when this will seem like the least of our problems. You and I will see the four horsemen of the apocalypse INTENSIFY THEIR RIDE with increasing global impact as time goes on. These four horsemen are revealed in REVELATION CHAPTER SIX as Christ opens the first four seals. Now, what happens when the fifth seal is opened? Turn to REVELATION 6:9.

Christ opens the fifth seal in REVELATION 6:9, “When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.”

Here is described the martyrdom of the saints, true Christians. In the first century, the Emperor Nero violently persecuted Christians and put them to death. This FIFTH SEAL also predicts a major end-time persecution of saints. Then Jesus opens the SIXTH SEAL, revealing the heavenly signs that will shock people all over the earth.

REVELATION 6:12, “I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and EVERY MOUNTAIN AND ISLAND was moved out of its place” (Revelation 6:12-14).

Not only will asteroids and meteors frighten people, but massive earthquakes will also shake the earth. As the Apostle John saw in vision, “every mountain and island was moved out of its place” (Revelation 6:14). Almighty God will get the attention of rebellious humans through these earthquakes and heavenly signs. The Creator God tells us in HEBREWS 12:26, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”

My friends, will you be ready for those literally earth-shaking events? Will you REPENT and HUMBLE YOURSELF before God NOW, instead of being SHAKEN later? The cosmic disturbances and earthquakes introduce the Day of Judgement on all nations. Jesus Christ will judge the nations during the Day of the Lord

The Great Tribulation and the Seals of Revelation EXPLAINED

We saw that the Heavenly Signs will introduce the prophetic Day of the Lord, as “the great day of His [Christ’s] wrath” (that’s in Revelation 6:17). This is a time when Almighty God intervenes powerfully to judge rebellious nations. As we’ll see, He’ll even let the nations actively try to destroy one another in world conflict.

Are we capable of destroying ourselves? Even now, scientists and world leaders are warning us of worldwide cosmocide. On January 23, 2020, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists moved the Doomsday Clock minute hand to 100 seconds before midnight. NPR.com reported: “The End May Be Nearer: Doomsday Clock Moves Within 100 Seconds Of Midnight…. ‘The Doomsday Clock is a globally recognized indicator of the vulnerability of our existence,’ said former Irish President Mary Robinson at the annual clock-unveiling ceremony. ‘It’s a striking metaphor for the precarious state of the world, but most frighteningly, [it is] a metaphor backed by rigorous scientific scrutiny’” (“The End May Be Nearer: Doomsday Clock Moves Within 100 Seconds Of Midnight,” NPR.org, January 23, 2020).

Yes, the world is facing the danger of total destruction. We can be thankful that God will intervene and save us from ourselves. But we must take the warning Christ gives us in Matthew 24:21-22. This unique time in all history is the Great Tribulation. It is ALSO the time of Jacob’s trouble, as pointed out in JEREMIAH 30:7, “Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.”

The United States, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the British-descended peoples are descendants of Jacob. Not only will they face ruin from military weapons, there will also be incredible ECOLOGICAL DEVASTATION. Imagine massive locust invasions! If you have your Bible, turn to JOEL the FIRST CHAPTER. JOEL is near the end of the Old Testament. It’s the second of the so-called Minor Prophets. The prophet Joel describes locust plagues as a DAY OF THE LORD judgment. JOEL 1:4, “What the chewing locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; what the swarming locust left, the crawling locust has eaten; and what the crawling locust left, the consuming locust has eaten.”

In January 2020, massive swarms of locusts in Kenya give us a preview.

The hum of millions of locusts on the move is broken by the screams of farmers and the clanging of pots and pans. But their noise-making does little to stop the voracious insects from feasting on their crops in this rural community. The worst outbreak of desert locusts in Kenya in 70 years has seen hundreds of millions of the bugs swarm into the East African nation from Somalia and Ethiopia. Those two countries have not had an infestation like this in a quarter-century, destroying farmland and threatening an already vulnerable region with devastating hunger (“‘This is huge’: Locust swarms in Africa are worst in decades,” The Charlotte Observer, January 26, 2020, p. 30A).

In the future, the insect plagues that some nations experience today will seem minor by comparison. When God brings punishments upon rebellious nations in the future Day of the Lord, He’ll call upon the nations to humble themselves and repent! Of course, we, you and I, don’t need to wait until then! As conditions worsen on the world scene, we all need to pray and cry out to God--and make sure we are on GOD’S SIDE!

Our Savior warns us to watch and pray as He tells us in Luke 21:36. We need to know the signs leading up to the Day of the Lord and the sequence of prophetic events. Where does the Day of the Lord fit in the scheme of end-time prophecy? Let’s notice the biblical framework and the prophetic sequence of events. There are three major periods of time or events we need to look at. They are referred to as the Great Tribulation, heavenly signs, and the Day of the Lord. It’s important to understand the correct order. Jesus spoke of the climax of the age in MATTHEW 24:21, “For then there will be GREAT TRIBULATION, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:21-22).

The first major event is the GREAT TRIBULATION, followed by HEAVENLY SIGNS. The DAY of the LORD, the third event, leads to the Second Coming of Christ. The second chapter of JOEL confirms that the Heavenly signs INTRODUCE the Day of the Lord.

JOEL 2:30, “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, BEFORE the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD” (Joel 2:30-31).

So we see the sequence of events. #1 is Great Tribulation; #2 is Heavenly Signs (or the 6th Seal of Revelation); #3 is the Day of the Lord (or the 7th Seal of Revelation).

Just how long is the “Day” of the Lord? We’ll answer that question in the next part of our program, but first I’d like to give you another opportunity to order our exciting and informative free audio CD “THE DAY OF THE LORD

The Day of the Lord is a Year of Woes

We have seen that the Day of the Lord will come after the Great Tribulation and the Heavenly Signs. But just HOW LONG will it last? As many students of Bible prophecy know, there is the year-for-a-day principle in prophecy. Remember when the twelve spies of ancient Israel under the leadership of Joshua searched out the Promised Land? The spies came back after 40 days to report on the resources of the land. But ten of the twelve spies gave an evil report and refused to trust God to give them the victory over the giants and the inhabitants of the land. As a result of their unbelief, God condemned them to wander in the wilderness for FORTY YEARS, a year for each of the 40 days they had searched the land.

NUMBERS 14:34, “According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for EACH DAY you shall bear your guilt ONE YEAR, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection.”

This principle of a day for a year is also used by God in EZEKIEL 4:6.

How long then, is the Day of the Lord? The Day of the Lord in one sense, is the YEAR preceding the return of Christ! It’s a significant part of God’s plan, something all Christians should know!

Notice also in Isaiah 34:8, “For it is the DAY of the Lord’s VENGEANCE, the YEAR of recompense for the cause of Zion.” Here again, God’s punishment, the day of the Lord’s vengeance, is equated to one year.

Let’s briefly summarize. The environmental and political problems symbolized by the four horsemen of the Apocalypse will continue to intensify. There will be wholesale religious persecution as revealed through the fifth seal of Revelation. The sixth seal, the heavenly signs, will awaken the world to the beginning of the Day of the Lord, the seventh seal!

Let’s understand! The seven seals reveal end-time trends and events. The seventh seal represents the year-long Day of the Lord. It consists of seven TRUMPET judgments during the yearlong Day of the Lord. As we’ll see later, the seventh TRUMPET itself consists of the “seven last plagues” mentioned in Revelation 15:1.

The seventh seal lasts approximately one year and it consists of seven trumpet plagues. These trumpet plagues are described in the 8th and 9th chapters of Revelation. Turn in your Bible to REVELATION the eighth chapter, “When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets” (Revelation 8:1-2).

The trumpets give us warning--they announce seven trumpet plagues or judgments! As you read through chapter 8, you’ll notice that, as the first four angels sound their trumpets, there is great ecological devastation all over the earth. There are earthquakes; vast areas of vegetation are burned up; a third of all sea life dies; water sources are poisoned. The heavens are darkened.

The last three trumpet plagues are called woes. The word “woe” is an exclamation of grief! REVELATION 8:13, “And I looked, and I heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, ‘Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!’”

The first woe, or the 5th trumpet plague, is described in chapter nine. The 5th angel sounds a trumpet that begins a military action that lasts 5 months. The second woe, or the 6th trumpet plague, is pictured with symbols of horses and horsemen. Here we see an intense military counter-attack.

REVELATION 9:12, “One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things. Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, ‘Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates’” (Revelation 9:12-14). An army of 200 million drives west across the Euphrates River and destroys ONE-THIRD of the earth’s population! This phase of World War III will kill billions of humans! Yes, Jesus said that unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved--otherwise, all life on earth would be destroyed.

Next we hear the sound of the seventh trumpet. For Christians, the sounding of the seventh trumpet is GOOD NEWS because it announces the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth and the return of Jesus Christ. REVELATION 11:15, “Then the seventh angel sounded: and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!’”

The one-year period of time, called the Day of the Lord, culminates in the announcement that Christ is taking over all the kingdoms and governments of this world! That’s the good news we all look forward to hearing!

No Peace on Earth Until Jesus Christ Returns!

The Day of the Lord in end-time prophecy consists of seven trumpet events over a period of one year leading up to the return of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The seventh trumpet announces the good news of Christ’s takeover of world governments. But the seventh trumpet is also called the third woe! Why? Because it also signals the seven last plagues! The Apostle John describes them in the 16th chapter of Revelation. They include plagues of painful sores on those who have worshiped the Beast power and its image. They include even more poisonous rivers and seas to the extent that “every living creature in the sea died” as it states in Revelation 16:3. The sun becomes hotter, resulting in extreme heat waves that torment those who will not repent of their sins!

In northern Israel, on the plain of Jezreel, will be gathered massive military power and might! These armies will actually fight against the commander of Heaven’s armies, Jesus Christ at His return. Turn to REVELATION 19 in your Bible. Revelation 19:14, the Apostle John describes Christ returning to conquer all nations: “And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:14-16).

When Christ returns to this earth, He will conquer all his enemies. He will conquer the nations and their powerful armies that fight against Him at His coming. The Day of the Lord will bring God’s judgment on the nations.

As we’ve seen, in one sense the Day of the Lord is the year preceding the return of Christ. In another sense, it continues on through the Millennium and on out to eternity.

The Apostle Peter describes it this way in 2 PETER 3:10, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:10-13).

The Apostle Peter exhorts us to be in a spiritual state of readiness. We must be alert to the Day of the Lord, a sobering period of judgment on the nations. Beyond that lies tomorrow’s world, a wonderful time of beauty, prosperity, and restoration under the rulership of Christ. May God speed that day!
