A Year of Bad News and a Future in Doubt?

A friend sent me a funny cartoon as Daylight Savings Time was coming to an end, when we turn our clocks back an hour. The cartoon is a picture of a frog laying on its back in a position of defeat, with the caption: “I’m not turning my clock back on Sunday. The last thing we need is an extra hour of 2020!” Yes, 2020 has been an amazingly challenging year and most of us are happy it is, as the saying goes, “In the books.” It’s over and it’s now history.

But have the problems of 2020 gone away? Is COVID-19 over? What about the economic upsets? Are the protests, riots, and political divisions within countries something that ends at midnight December 31? Or will these continue into a new year?

What’s ahead for 2021 and beyond? Can we know? Stay with me if you want to know what your future is as contained in this book.

2019 and 2020 Predictions Came True

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World, where I’m going to give you predictions for this new year and those to follow. Predicting the future is a sticky business. Every year experts, futurists, secular philosophers, and religious prophets tell us what to expect in the year ahead. More often than not, these predictions are in error. The only thing that saves the reputation of these self-proclaimed prophets is the short memories of those who listened to them.

So why is it that we here at Tomorrow’s World think that we are any better at predicting the future when we give you predictions for the year to come? What is the source of our understanding? And most importantly, are our predictions accurate? Let’s address that question by reviewing the last two years.

Many evangelical preachers tell their audiences that the rapture and the return of Christ can happen at any time, maybe even tonight; but in my program, “2019 in Bible Prophecy,” I showed why this is a perversion of scripture by boldly stating:

[My] Prediction #1: Jesus Christ will NOT return in 2019

Nor in 2020, 21, or 22.

And the second prediction was:

There will be no rapture in 2019

Because, notwithstanding popular opinion, the doctrine of the rapture is not scriptural. We have resources on our website, TomorrowsWorld.org, that will explain this in greater detail. My third prediction was:

Prediction #3: Real peace will come, but not in 2019

Or 20, 21, or 22. Those first two predictions have proven to be true—there was no rapture and Christ did not return. The doctrine of imminence, that Christ can return at just anytime, is not found in scripture. People often look at Jesus’ statement that no man knows the day or the hour and they jump to the wild conclusion that this means that He can come at just anytime. It’s true that no one knows the hour. No one knows the exact time of His return, but they fail to recognize that Jesus also made statements about certain things that had to happen first. Notice what He said in Luke chapter 21, and verse 9:

But when you hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately (Luke 21:9).

The Bible nowhere says that Jesus can return at just anytime. It says He will come at a time when people do not expect, but Scripture also tells us that if we are watching we will not be caught off guard. Notice this in Thessalonians:

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape (1 Thessalonians 5:1–3).

Then the Scripture tells us that those who are true children of God and are watching will not be caught off guard.

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober (1 Thessalonians 5:4–6).

So when someone focuses only on Jesus’ statement that no one knows the day or the hour and jumps to the wild and unfounded conclusion that He meant that He could come at just any time, it shows a total lack of understanding of the scriptures. In “2019 in Bible Prophecy” I read from the Bible some of the things this book says must happen first. And just as the first two points have proven true, so will:

Prediction # 3: Real peace will come, but not in 2019

Fellow Tomorrow’s World presenter Wallace Smith gave trends to watch in 2020 and all six were right on target.

Further Predictions and Trends to Watch Out For

Mr. Smith explained that while we don’t know exact dates, we can know where our world is headed. His first point was to:

#1: Keep an eye on Europe’s accelerating identity crisis

It will be wise to remember how that continent drew the whole world into two conflicts in the last century, taking the lives of tens of millions of people. And according to the Bible, it will happen again. January 31, 2020 saw the United Kingdom formally withdraw from the European Union and with it, a stabilizing and balancing power. Europe is still seeking direction and the withdrawal of Britain and the COVID-19 crisis only accelerated the problem. We advise you to continue watching events in Europe that will soon shake the whole world.

Mr. Smith also counseled us to:

#2: Watch the changing power dynamic among Arabic nations

Did our colleague call it correctly? 2020 saw three Islamic nations make peace with Israel—something that almost no one saw coming, and as of this recording we still have several weeks left in the year. In the next few years you should expect a greater realignment of nations in the Middle East, but this will not bring lasting peace. Notice what the Bible tells us:

For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

That’s from 1 Thessalonians 5:3.

Mr. Smith’s admonition to watch that part of the world is good advice. He also instructed us to watch for:

#3: The continuing decline of the United States and the British-descended nations of the world.

It’s intoxicating to hear patriotic songs such as “Rule Britannia!” or hear slogans such as “Make America great again.” But Britain is no longer great and no matter who the President may be, America can never be truly great for these reasons that Wallace Smith pointed out:

In our halls of government, on our movie screens, and in our classrooms, the growing moral rot of the United States and the United Kingdom, and other nations of the Anglosphere is on depressing display for all the world to see—all while the Ten Commandments can hardly be found.

And as a result, droughts, floods, fires, riots in our streets, and horrible division. “2020 in Bible Prophecy” again hit a bullseye. Point #4 was to watch for:

#4: Developments in the world of organized religion.

The world was shocked when it was revealed that the Bishop of Rome urged acceptance of same-sex unions. Note this October 21, 2020 USA Today quote:

“Homosexual people have the right to be in a family. They are children of God,” Francis said in one of his sit-down interviews for the film. “You can’t kick someone out of a family, nor make their life miserable for this. What we have to have is a civil union law; that way they are legally covered” (“Pope Francis endorses same-sex civil unions: They ‘have the right to be in a family’” USA Today, October 21, 2020).

Although the Vatican has pushed back saying this was taken out of context, a massive shift is occurring within professing Christianity’s largest denomination. We will do well to continue to:

Watch developments in the world of organized religion.

The year 2020 also saw some of the greatest natural disasters in recorded history. After losing 600,000 cattle in 2019 to unprecedented floods, Australia experienced the hottest and driest summer on record, accompanied by massive brush fires that killed or displaced 3 billion animals. And, the west coast of the United States saw the worst fire season on record. It seems our 2020 predictions were again on target with the counsel to watch for:

#5: Growing vulnerability to natural disasters.

Included in his comments on this point were disease epidemics, yet COVID-19 was not on anyone’s radar when that program was recorded in September 2019. However, notice this clip from the program:

But prophecy is clear that—eventually—diseases, natural disasters, and famines will begin to get the better of us, and they will devastate life on earth in the last days….

So far our colleague is batting five for five, but his last trend to watch was one that even we did not see happening to the degree it did. He said we should watch for:

#6: [an] Expanding effort to preach the gospel of the kingdom to the world.

He was specifically referring to this Work. He was not talking about a message about the person of Christ, but about Jesus’ message of the Kingdom of God, and he was basing this trend to watch on Matthew 24:14:

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14).

When the coronavirus caused the world to shut down, we expected to see income drop, but God had something else in mind. Our members and co-workers came through this year and Tomorrow’s World increased dramatically. Television coverage expanded, our Internet and social media efforts took a leap forward. We added nearly 100,000 new subscribers to our magazine (a 33% increase over 2019) and beginning January 2021, Tomorrow’s World magazine will increase from six to ten issues per year. Literature is figuratively “flying off the shelves.” Not bad, Mr. Smith—six for six!

Keys to Prophecy: Who Are Jacob’s Descendants?

Tomorrow’s World’s predictions and trends to watch have been spot on. So what’s our secret? How do we know what will happen, as well as what will not happen? The answer is simple. There is a God in heaven who foretold thousands of years in advance what to expect at this time. The prophet Daniel accurately described the time of the end in the 12th chapter, and verse 4:

But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase (Daniel 12:4).

What better way to describe modern transportation and our current knowledge explosion? There is no other time in history like this. Notice also that Jesus predicted this same time would bring mankind to the brink of self-imposed annihilation. That’s found in Matthew the 24th chapter:

For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened (Matthew 24:21–22).

We here at Tomorrow’s World cannot predict the future, but God can, and does, tell us history in advance. Notice these words of God as recorded by the prophet Isaiah:

Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9–10).

There are many trends and sub-trends that I can pass along to you for 2021 and the years that immediately follow, but I’ll only add one to those already mentioned. This is the prediction:

There will be disaster upon disaster for America and the British descended peoples.

Few people understand the biblical identity of nations, but this knowledge, along with prophecies for these nations, puts today’s news into proper perspective. God has blessed the descendants of the Patriarch Joseph—the American and British peoples and this includes nations such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. But as we reject the One who blessed us, so He is rejecting us. No matter who the President or Prime Minister may be, neither Britain nor America, nor the other Anglosphere countries, will be great again. We can only look to disaster upon disaster, unless we repent of our national sins. Notice this from Isaiah 1, and verses 2 and 3:

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me; the ox knows its owner and the donkey its master’s crib; but Israel does not know, My people do not consider” (Isaiah 1:2–3).

The immediate audience was the Jews and the city of Jerusalem, but when you read the whole book of Isaiah, it becomes clear that many of these prophecies are dual (a former fulfillment and a latter day fulfillment) and they apply to all the tribes of Israel. Yes, not only the Jews, but descendants of his brothers—and among them, the British descended and American peoples. And we have forgotten our Maker, the One who gave us unmatched natural resources: oil and natural gas to warm and cool our homes, to run our automobiles, and to power our industries. We are rich in iron and precious minerals. Arable land and moderate weather combine to produce incredible agricultural wealth.

We see ourselves as righteous nations, but that is not the way our Maker sees us.

Alas, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a brood of evildoers, children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked to anger the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away backward.

Is There Hope for the West?

Today we reviewed predictions and trends proclaimed by Tomorrow’s World the last two years. Then I said I would give you a single trend to watch in 2021 and the immediate years following. We cannot know the exact timing, but the trend is certain:

There will be disaster upon disaster for America and the British descended peoples.

Notice how the prophet Ezekiel describes what is ahead for the Anglosphere:

Destruction comes; they will seek peace, but there shall be none. Disaster will come upon disaster, and rumor will be upon rumor. Then they will seek a vision from a prophet; but the law will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders. “The king will mourn, the prince will be clothed with desolation, and the hands of the common people will tremble. I will do to them according to their way, and according to what they deserve I will judge them; then they shall know that I am the LORD!” (Ezekiel 7:25–27).

Hosea is another prophet who decries the sins, not of the Jews only, but of the whole house of Israel. Is this not a description of our peoples?

There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land. By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed (Hosea 4:1–2).

Hosea then describes natural disasters, such as Australia’s severe 2020 drought and the resulting brush fires that killed or displaced 3 billion wild animals. And if you wonder about the loss of fish stocks, talk to Newfoundland’s fishermen. Notice this in Hosea 4, verse 3:

Therefore the land will mourn; and everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea will be taken away (Hosea 4:3).

Americans trust in their military, their mighty men and advanced weaponry. Yet Hosea has a warning for us. Trouble is going to arise from within. We had a taste of that in some of America’s major cities in 2020.

You have plowed wickedness; you have reaped iniquity. You have eaten the fruit of lies, because you trusted in your own way, in the multitude of your mighty men. Therefore tumult shall arise among your people, and all your fortresses shall be plundered… (Hosea 10:13–14).

There is good news, however, as shown by the prophet Jeremiah. Notice it at the end of this passage found in the 30th chapter of Jeremiah:

For thus says the LORD: “We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask now, and see, whether a man is ever in labor with child? So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins like a woman in labor, and all faces turned pale? Alas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is the time of Jacob’s trouble,[notice this] but he shall be saved out of it” (Jeremiah 30:5–7).

Yes, as with a rebellious child, we are in for a terrible spanking. I know that it’s hard to believe, and not something you want to hear, but the United States and the British descended peoples are in for disaster upon disaster until we finally are overthrown by our enemies. Being overthrown by our enemies won’t happen this coming year, but it will happen in the near future.

But afterward, after the tears and sorrow, God will bring our people back from captivity. God will then give Israel, and mankind in general, a new spirit, as we read in Ezekiel the 11th chapter:

Therefore say, “Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.’” … Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God (Ezekiel 11:17, 19–20).

This last scripture is what Tomorrow’s World is all about. We look forward to the time when this world finally learns the lesson that it is God who knows best, and a world of true lasting peace will ensue. Today, we are going to explain in plain and simple terms the Kingdom of God—a mystery which almost no one understands today, including those who call themselves Christians!

What is the Kingdom of God? Is it just a feeling in your heart? Is it the church or the collection of Christians throughout the ages? Is it only in heaven?

And why is it a mystery at all? Why is there such confusion over the Kingdom of God in the first place?

Constantly in the churches of the world or in videos online, you will find men and women preaching about JESUS—who they think He was, the story of His life as they understand it, the miracles He performed, some of the things He said or did, His crucifixion and resurrection.

It all SEEMS to make sense, and to be sure, Jesus Christ IS the savior of the world. It IS by His shed blood that we are forgiven our sins. But we have to ask ourselves: Is the message preached by these churches THE SAME MESSAGE THAT JESUS PREACHED?

As we’ll see in a moment, Jesus did not come to only talk about HIMSELF. The HEART AND SOUL of the message, preaching, and teaching of Jesus Christ was about the KINGDOM OF GOD! That might surprise some of you, because we don’t hear much about the Kingdom of God today. Yet it is mentioned around 150 times in the New Testament.

Let’s take a brief, but sweeping survey of the ministry of Christ and of His disciples, and see for ourselves.

In the book of Mark, chapter 1, we read of the very beginning of Christ’s ministry, right after the imprisonment of John the Baptist. Here in verses 14-15, Mark writes:

“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the KINGDOM OF GOD, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the KINGDOM OF GOD is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

Jesus came preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God.

In fact, look at Jesus’ statement in the book of Luke. In chapter 4, Jesus makes a very explicit statement about His purpose and His mission—ABOUT WHY HE WAS ON EARTH IN THE FIRST PLACE! In verse 43 we read, “... He said to them, ‘I must preach the KINGDOM OF GOD to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.’” Jesus tells us that His PURPOSE, the VERY REASON HE WAS SENT BY GOD, was to preach about the KINGDOM OF GOD!

The Kingdom of God was so central to Jesus’ message to humanity—to you and me—that He told us that seeking that Kingdom should be the number one focus of our lives. Read it with me in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

That same chapter of the Bible contains the famous passage commonly called “The Lord’s Prayer.” In that model prayer, Jesus mentions the Kingdom of God TWICE—at the beginning and the end. In fact, the four gospels are FULL of teachings and parables from Jesus ABOUT the Kingdom of God—so many we don’t have time on today’s program to read them all. Instead, let’s turn to a passage in the book of Acts that may surprise you.

Many people don’t know that the Bible says Jesus actually spent almost six weeks with His disciples before ascending to heaven to remain with His Father until His return—six weeks of teaching them and preparing them for their mission. And what did He focus on during that time? Acts 1:3 tells us that Jesus

“... presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the KINGDOM OF GOD.”

THAT’S how important the topic was to Jesus Christ!

And His disciples took His instruction seriously. Consider the famous Apostle Paul. Acts 14:22 pictures him speaking of the difficulty of entering the KINGDOM OF GOD. Acts 19:8 says he spent THREE MONTHS in the synagogues of the Jews “reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the KINGDOM OF GOD.” Acts 20:25 shows him testifying to Christians in Ephesus that he has been among them “preaching the KINGDOM OF GOD”—the list goes ON & ON & ON! At the VERY END of the book of Acts, we find Paul in a state of house arrest and receiving visitors. Acts 28 verses 30 & 31 tell us what he was doing there:

“Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him, preaching the KINGDOM OF GOD and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.”

The testimony of the Bible is UNANIMOUS AND DEAFENING—the message of Jesus Christ and the message of His church MUST BE ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF GOD!

If the Kingdom of God was at the heart of Jesus’ message, WHY do most people who consider themselves faithful Christians not hear about it more? Why do so many not even know what it is?

Because the Christianity we see around us today has been long corrupted by the Devil and influenced to ignore or change many vital and inspiring truths of God—including the truth about the Kingdom of God!

I know that might be shocking to hear, but it is unquestionably true. There is a reason the modern Christian church is shattered into a thousand pieces, all teaching doctrines and practices that differ in ways great and small from the teachings of the Bible: Satan the Devil has been working to corrupt Christianity from its beginning.

The Four Keys to the Kingdom

Men make the Bible complicated and confusing, but God is not the author of confusion! When God speaks plainly, why not simply take Him at His word instead of adding our OWN ideas to HIS TEACHINGS?

If we want to understand the Kingdom of God, we need to consider: What makes a kingdom a “kingdom”? By seeking that plain understanding—and allowing the Bible to answer our questions—we can cut through the Devil’s confusion to see the beautiful, simple truth.

When we consider it carefully, we find that FOUR ELEMENTS make up every kingdom, including the Kingdom of God:

(a) King,Territory, Laws, and Subjects.

Looking to the Bible’s insights with these four elements of a kingdom in mind will reveal the answer to today’s question—and reveal the Kingdom of God.

Let’s first consider the KING. It may come as no surprise to you that the KING of the future Kingdom of God will be Jesus Christ! He will LITERALLY RULE THE WORLD!

People often get sentimental about the words of Isaiah 9 in verses 6–7, but they rarely actually look at what it SAYS. Let’s read it together.

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the GOVERNMENT will be upon His shoulder.”

Now pause for a moment. Did you catch that? The GOVERNMENT will be upon His shoulder! The first part of the verse is not a metaphor, why would this be one? Jesus Christ was born to GOVERN!

Let’s continue:

“And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His GOVERNMENT and peace there will be no end, upon the THRONE of David and over His KINGDOM, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

King David ruled in Jerusalem, over a REAL Kingdom. So, too, CHRIST will rule in Jerusalem, over a REAL Kingdom—but this time, a Kingdom without end. He will be exactly what He’s called in Revelation 19:16, “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

But He will not be ruling alone. For instance, Matthew 19:28 tells us His twelve apostles will be ruling under Him in the Kingdom, judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Even more than that—EACH AND EVERY CHRISTIAN who has suffered and struggled in this world to overcome sin and follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ will DIRECTLY RULE THE WORLD UNDER CHRIST, AS WELL!

So many verses speak of this future. Daniel 7 verses 18 and 27 talk of the Kingdom being given to God’s people. Revelation 20 and verse 6 speaks of the saints reigning with Christ for 1,000 years.

Turn to 1 Corinthians 6 and verse 2, where Paul talks of the reign of the future glorified Christians very plainly:

“Do you not know that the saints will judge the WORLD? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?”

JUDGE THE WORLD? JUDGE ANGELS? What an INCREDIBLE DESTINY ahead for the true followers of Jesus Christ!

The reward of the saved is NOT a heavenly retirement home—it is RULING TOMORROW’S WORLD in GLORY under JESUS CHRIST!

Here we see the second element of a Kingdom: The TERRITORY. The saints will rule the world under Christ—that’s THIS world, not Heaven, or some fuzzy, feel-good Kingdom in your heart! I know it’s hard to “unlearn” some things, but shattering the deceit of the Devil to learn the REAL TRUTH of Jesus’ message is worth it!

And the truth is plain for those willing to read and believe their Bibles. True Christians can proclaim the clear words of Revelation 5 and verse 10, and will say, “[You] have made us KINGS and PRIESTS to our God; and we shall REIGN ON THE EARTH.”

It doesn’t GET more straightforward than that! Those who follow Christ NOW shall REIGN ON THE EARTH! And earlier in Revelation, in chapter 2 and verses 26 and 27, Jesus encourages us: “And he who overcomes, and keeps my works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron….’”

“Power over the nations” means authority ON THIS EARTH!

Is Jesus LYING to us? Is He saying something He doesn’t really mean? Satan would have you believe that. Why can’t people just trust the Bible for WHAT IT SAYS?

One World Government Possible Under God!

Today, we are unlocking the Mystery of the Kingdom of God, and we are doing so by simply believing the Bible for what it says.

In our last segment, we highlighted that those who follow Jesus Christ will rule the world alongside Him, which may be a bit of a surprise to many of you who simply expected Christians to simply die and go to heaven. But, if you think about it, the truth of the saints’ coming world rule has been in front of you all the time, right in your Bible. Even many atheists are familiar with Jesus’ promise recorded in Matthew 5:5 The meek shall inherit the earth. There are so many verses we are skipping for the sake of time, but I want to ask you—aren’t some of these verses and passages beginning to make sense? Jesus really DID mean what He said! The meek are going to LITERALLY inherit planet Earth. When we sweep away the Devil’s ideas and embrace the plain truth of the Bible, so MUCH becomes clear.

Let’s continue. We’ve covered the first two elements of every kingdom—including the Kingdom of God: A KING, and TERRITORY. Let’s now look at the third element every kingdom possesses: A collection of LAWS.

The Bible is clear from beginning to end that the future Kingdom of God will be ruled by the Laws of GOD, embodied in the TEN COMMANDMENTS!

So many sincere but CONFUSED pastors, preachers, and priests will tell you that Jesus somehow DID AWAY with His Father’s commandments, but this simply IS NOT SO! For example, you can read for yourself in Matthew 19:16-17 how Christ replied when a young man came to Him asking to receive eternal life. Jesus answered, “If you want to enter into life, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.”

Many prophecies speak of Christ’s reign on earth and how the LAW OF GOD will form the basis of that reign. For instance, Isaiah 2 verse 3 tells us, “For out of Zion shall go forth the LAW, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”

In fact, if we take a look at the larger passage there in Isaiah 2, we see the fourth element every kingdom possesses: SUBJECTS. The subjects of Jesus reign will comprise the entire world. Let’s read the larger passage, beginning in verse 2: “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and ALL NATIONS shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth the LAW, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” (vv. 2–3).

Zechariah 14 tells us that this globe-covering reign will take some time, since some will refuse at first to be subjects of this Kingdom and come under the laws of God. But those nations will find that resisting this new world ruler is harder than they imagined.

For instance, when the glorified Jesus Christ calls for all the nations of the world to keep the biblical Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem, some nations will apparently resist. Zechariah records that Christ will not take such refusals lightly. “And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain” (vv. 16–17).

With the new King of kings controlling nature itself, it will not be long before all the world learns to submit. And they will learn that resisting only postponed the blessings that come from yielding to a loving God.

The result of Jesus Christ’s reign over the entire world‚ and the people of the world, will be the kind of world we have always wanted—one of peace and prosperity. As recorded in Isaiah 2,

“He [that is, Christ] shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore” (v. 4).

Completely understanding the mystery of the Kingdom of God and the role it plays in salvation—the heart of the real gospel of Jesus Christ—has changed more lives than I can count. And it is only the start of a beautiful journey of walking fully and closely with God.

You Can Start Living God’s Way NOW

We’ve been explaining the simple truth of the Kingdom of God: That it isn’t a matter of living among the clouds of heaven, or a “feeling in your heart,” or the church. Rather it is a REAL KINGDOM, with a King, Jesus Christ; ruling a Territory, the entirety of planet Earth; possessing Laws, the Ten Commandments and the Laws of God; and reigning over Subjects, the people and nations of the entire world. Regardless of how much the Devil seeks to obscure this truth, it is at the VERY HEART AND SOUL of the message that Jesus Christ brought to this earth.

Jesus has commissioned us to preach about the Kingdom of God—not merely a gospel ABOUT Jesus, or about His person or about His life, but the Gospel OF JESUS! And we here at Tomorrow’s World are devoted to doing just that.

In fact, you can see the mission of Tomorrow’s World reflected in Christ’s prophecy, recorded in Matthew 24:14:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

And that gospel of the kingdom, along with the whole counsel of God that goes with it, is what we strive to deliver to you at Tomorrow’s World, week after week. The world that Jesus Christ will establish at His return, and that will spread to cover the entire earth, will truly be amazing beyond comprehension. His saints will rule with Him for a thousand years, reigning in power and glory alongside their Savior, and finally teaching the world all the truths that have been hidden by Satan the Devil for so long, including the remarkable purpose of man, and the way of life that truly leads to true life.

But you don’t have to wait until the return of Jesus Christ to begin experiencing the benefits of the Kingdom of God. You can begin to enjoy them, to some degree, in your life NOW. I know that there are people all over the world watching this program right now—I know because so MANY of you write to us each week and request our literature or to visit with one of our ministers. God IS calling some of you listening to this message today to understand more of His truth, and if God is calling you, you need to ACT!

You can begin a completely new and more dynamic walk with God right now! Psalm 34:8 tells us to “taste and see that the LORD is good” and you can begin doing that today! A Year of Insanity—With More to Come?

What a year 2020 has been! And as of this recording, there are still four months to go. If the eight previous months are any indication, we had better hang onto our seats, because it may be a very bumpy ride. Do you sense that world order is breaking down? If so, you’re not alone. How often we hear people remark that they have never seen anything like this—floods, hurricanes, droughts, fires, locust plagues, the Coronavirus pandemic. We see unrest in cities around the world. Shockingly, the United States is under siege from within as anarchists burn, loot, and tear at the very fabric of civilized society, while mayors and governors sit on the sidelines allowing chaos to reign. We hear news commentators and citizens alike struggle to find words that are adequate to describe what they see, and the word we hear most often, is, insanity.

Perhaps you read my July/August Tomorrow’s World magazine article, “The Perfect Storm,” with the subtitle questions, “How did 2020 go wrong? And why?”

We might also ask, what will 2021 and beyond be like? Our world is coming to a crisis like nothing in the history of the world, but there is good news beyond. There is hope in tough times, so if you would like to know the future, stay tuned.

Is There Hope in All This Chaos?

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World, where I’m addressing what everyone can see, but few understand. I especially welcome those of you tuning in for the first time, as we have a number of new stations and new viewers. Today I’ll reveal to you what is certain for humanity’s near future, foretold some 3,500 years ago.

The July/August 2020 lead story in Tomorrow’s World magazine was “The Perfect Storm: How did 2020 go wrong? And why?” The article describes how events are converging in a way the world never saw coming, but viewers of this telecast and readers of Tomorrow’s World magazine should not be surprised.

Australia’s perfect storm saw a seven-year devastating drought broken by catastrophic floods that killed some 600,000 cattle. But that was only the beginning. This was followed by the hottest and driest summer on record, resulting in nasty bush fires. CNN Australia reported on the aftermath:

“Nearly three billion animals were killed or displaced by Australia’s devastating bushfires—almost triple the figure estimated in January—according to a report released Tuesday….

‘The interim findings are shocking. It’s hard to think of another event anywhere in the world in living memory that has killed or displaced that many animals,’ said WWF-Australia CEO Dermot O’Gorman. ‘This ranks as one of the worst wildlife disasters in modern history’” (“Nearly three billion animals killed or displaced by Australia’s fires,” CNN, July 28, 2020).

This was the perfect storm that Australians had never seen to the same degree, but then came the “black swan” event of COVID-19. For those unfamiliar with this term, here is how it’s explained in Investopedia.com:

“A black swan is an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normally expected of a situation and has potentially severe consequences. Black swan events are characterized by their extreme rarity, severe impact, and the widespread insistence they were obvious in hindsight” (“Black Swan,” Investopedia, August 17, 2020).

The economic impact to Australia is yet to be fully comprehended, but it isn’t Australia alone. Similar 2020 perfect storms along with the black swan of COVID-19 are being experienced in other parts of the world.

East Africa saw the worst desert locust plague in more than half a century. This was followed by massive flooding described as “of biblical proportions,” with Lake Victoria, the third largest lake in the world, rising more than two metersthat’s more than six feet. Then throw in COVID-19 to hamper rescue and aid efforts for flood victims. Our Tomorrow’s World representative in Kenya reported on these developments:

“Countries in East Africa are suffering a ‘triple blow’ of locusts, COVID-19, and flooding. There are nearly 300,000,000 people being affected by these events.”

No matter where you look in the world, it’s disaster upon disaster, and nowhere more pronounced than in the United States. At the beginning of 2020, the economy was humming along better than anytime in fifty years, but that ended with the coronavirus—businesses closed, millions thrown out of work, and trillion dollar bailouts were instituted, to say nothing of the large death toll. Then came the George Floyd incident. Peaceful protests turned violent, with riots and anarchy in the streets of major cities. And all of this in the context of what is considered by many to be the most significant election in American history.

And friends, I’m only scratching the surface here. Many South American and African countries are struggling economically as unrest grows over government corruption. And let’s not forget Brexit!

Surely things cannot get any worse! Sadly, they can, and they will! But there is also good news. In the remainder of today’s program we will look at four commanded celebrations given some 3,500 years ago that explain in surprising detail what is ahead for your near future. Few people realize that the God of the Bible gave annual festivals to reveal His master plan for humanity. Many professing Christians tragically reject them and have instead followed counterfeit traditions mixed with pagan ideas. That leaves them in the dark regarding their future.

God’s True Holy Days Show the Way Ahead

But what do religious Holy Days have to do with the real world in which we live?

Actually, they have everything to do with current and future events! They’re relevant to your personal life, and the life of everyone who has ever lived. Now, if I can prove that, wouldn’t you want to know more about these special days?

Our booklet The Holy Days: God’s Master Plan explains all seven Holy Days and Festivals. The first three have already been fulfilled in part or in whole. The remaining four are entirely for the days ahead and that is why the remainder of this program will focus on the events portrayed by:

Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah)

Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur)

Feast of Tabernacles

Last Great Day

The Feast of Trumpets was anciently celebrated by the blowing of trumpets, but as our resource on the Holy Days points out, the New Testament reveals meaning far greater than any ancient festival. Each holy day or festival foretells something to occur in the future. As an example, Israel was protected in Egypt from death by the blood of a lamb. This was called Passover, but it pointed to a far greater salvation. It pointed to the Son of God, that Lamb of God who shed His blood to pay the penalty for our sins—that is why Jesus died on the day of the Passover. As we are told in 1 Corinthians 5:7:

“For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7).

Another obvious example is the Feast of Pentecost. The law was given in codified form on the first Pentecost, but on the first Pentecost following the resurrection, God poured out His spirit to write that law, not on stone, but in our minds and on our hearts. The first three festivals have been fulfilled in part or in whole, but not so the last four.

So let’s look for the meaning of the Feast of Trumpets. Throughout the New Testament there is a single emphasis on the blowing of trumpets. It involves the one year day of the Lord, which culminates with the return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the saints. Notice some examples. The first is found in Matthew 24, beginning in verse 29:

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24:29–31).

The second example is found in 1 Thessalonians 4, verse 16:

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first” (1 Thessalonians 4:16).

Again, we see Christ returning at the sound of a trumpet and the dead in Christ resurrected. But 1 Corinthians adds a very important detail. Notice it in chapter 15, verses 51 and 52:

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51–52).

The Greatest Mystery Revealed!

Now, my friends, did you notice it? I’ll read that passage again:

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51–52).

Now, did you catch it this time? “The last trumpet.” This Feast is about more than one event. It is the Feast of Trumpets, plural. Paul tells us the return of Christ and the resurrection occur at “the last trumpet.” So how many are there and what happens when each is blown? The answer is found in the book of Revelation, which describes the blowing of seven trumpets, and as we’ve seen so far, a dramatic event occurs at the sounding of the last one. Let’s read it in Revelation 11:15 and 18:

“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!’ … And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear Your name, small and great, and should destroy those who destroy the earth” (Revelation 11:15, 18).

So what happens when the first six trumpets are blown? Revelation chapters 8 and 9 give details of traumatic occurrences that will shake mankind to our core, and our booklet, The Holy Days: God’s Master Plan is a ready study guide to help you understand these six trumpets that lead up to the seventh. The last three of the seven Holy Days are:

The Day of Atonement

The Feast of Tabernacles

The Last Great Day

It is difficult for me to express how wonderful the news is, that these days describe, but let’s try. As we saw, the Feast of Trumpets pictures the sounding of seven trumpets at the end of the age. The first six symbolize terrifying events, with our world becoming more dangerous, requiring that the seventh trumpet be blown. As it tells us in Matthew 24:21–22:

“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened” (Matthew 24:21–22).

So as a result of our unrestrained sins, the return of Christ to stop our insanity is good news—it’s wonderful news! But why is it that mankind cannot solve our problems? To a great degree it is because there is a real spirit being that influences us in ways we do not realize. He works through moods and attitudes, stirring up strife, confusion, conflict, and rebellion against our Creator. Notice Ephesians 2, verses 1 and 2:

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1–2).

While we might individually be at one with God through Christ’s sacrifice, the world is hardly at one with God and cannot be as long as the prince of the power of the air continues to work in the sons of disobedience. The Day of Atonement pictures the joyous event, when this worker of rebellion is removed. We can read of it in Revelation 20:

“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while” (Revelation 20:1–3).

What a wonderful event shown by the Day of Atonement! Imagine when the one who directs the course of this present evil world, with all its hatred, cruel violence, and immorality, will be removed.

The Feast of Tabernacles and Mankind’s Greatest Hope

The biblical Holy Days show God’s master plan for humanity. So far we’ve very briefly touched on the following Holy Days:

The Feast of Trumpets—Christ’s intervention and return

And, The Day of Atonement—Satan removed from influencing mankind

Now let’s look at how God’s plan progresses with

The Feast of Tabernacles

The prophet Zechariah describes the day of the Lord, the time of the Messiah’s direct and open intervention in mankind’s affairs. Notice how Christ will intervene for Jerusalem and how His feet will once again stand on the Mount of Olives.

“Behold, the day of the Lord is coming…. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem…. Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives…. And the Lord shall be King over all the earth” (Zechariah 14:1–4, 9).

We find near the end of this chapter, after describing the defeat of His enemies, that all nations will be commanded to come up to keep the next Feast in God’s master plan for humanity. This passage is of no small importance. Notice verses 16–19:

“And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain. If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the Lord strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:16–19).

This Feast pictures the time described in these verses, the time, when Christ rules on the earth to bring peace to our troubled world. Following the verses that describe Satan being removed, we next read in Revelation 20, about this time of rule by Christ and His servants on the earth.

“And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years” (Revelation 20:4).

But God’s wonderful plan for mankind does not end with the seven-day Feast of Tabernacles. There is an eighth day attached to it. John 7 describes how Jesus went up to Jerusalem to keep the Feast of Tabernacles, but then we read beginning in verse 37:

“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified” (John 7:37–39).

Most people reading this have no idea what this is about. This is “The Last Great Day,” a separate Feast with a different meaning. Nor do they understand the time setting—a time of judgment for all those individuals who lived and died, not receiving an understanding of God’s plan for them. These are people who never heard of the name of Jesus Christ, or if they did, their minds were blinded. Notice how Jesus spoke of a future time of judgment for the self-righteous city of Capernaum and the sinful city of Sodom in Matthew 11:23–24.

“And you, Capernaum… if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you” (Matthew 11:23–24).

There are many references to this time of judgment, but how does it fit in with the timeline of events? The book of Revelation answers that question. Remember that chapter 20 and verse 4 described the resurrection of the saints to rule with Christ for a thousand years. Now let’s pick it up with verse 5:

“But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection” (Revelation 20:5).

These are not Christ’s servants, or they would have been resurrected upon His return. Now, here’s what we read about that resurrection beginning in verse 11:

“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it…. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened [the books of the Bible that were previously closed to their understanding]. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. [Notice this book is open for these people to have their names recorded in it, it’s not a closed book] And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books” (Revelation 20:11–12).

A World Without War

Imagine a perfect world. Not what we see today, but a new world, ideal in every way. What would it be like? If you could remake everything you see, what would you change? Maybe you would erase the political divides that plague our world… Perhaps you would get rid of corruption, scandals, lies, and government propaganda. Maybe you’d reform the criminal justice system, and institute new laws. Fair and just laws that protect the unborn and don’t legalize immorality. You’d close loopholes that benefit the rich and powerful. Everyone would be truly equal before the law, all the time, without fail. Maybe you’d get rid of violence and war… No more men and women learning the art and science of warfare… And no more violence and anarchy in the streets.

Is it possible? Am I only dreaming? You might think so, looking at society today. If you read the headlines and watch the latest videos posted online, you might conclude that this hope for a perfect world is unrealistic.

But stop a moment. This ideal world I just described is what your Bible predicts, in detail. This may be a shock to some, but it’s true.

Let’s take a look at the Bible, and get a glimpse of that future. Yes… there are difficult years ahead. But after that, the future is bright. A better, just, and peaceful world is coming. And it will happen right here on this earth.

So, let’s find out about that world, by looking in the Bible. We’ll examine one specific prophecy in the ancient book of Isaiah. You might be amazed at what we find.

One World Government Under God

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World. Many centuries ago, in the ancient land of Judah, there lived a prophet named Isaiah. He lived in the 8th century, B.C. Isaiah began his ministry by having a vision, during the reign of king Uzziah. He recorded his visions in the book called by his name. It forms one of the foundational prophetic books of the Old Testament. What’s fascinating about Isaiah is that much of the book predicts the coming of the Messiah, and His glorious, 1,000-year reign on earth, what we sometimes call “the millennium.”

There’s a particular prophecy we’ll look at on today’s program, which gives us a glimpse of this coming new age. It begins in Isaiah, chapter 2, verse 1:

“The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Now it shall come to pass in the latter days…” (Isaiah 2:1–2).

What is this phrase “the latter days”? “Latter days” refers to the end-times, the time right around the return of Jesus Christ to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. If YOU can see we are living in the “latter days” right now, what comes next should cause you to stop and take notice. The events Isaiah speaks of are about to happen, IN OUR TIME.

So, what will the Millennium be like? In the rest of this program, we’ll discuss three wonderful descriptions of the Millennium. The first is, that 1,000 year reign of Christ on earth will be a time of:

1. Good and Righteous Rulers

Let’s read Isaiah 2:2,

“Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it” (Isaiah 2:2).

What is this talking about? Well, the Bible often uses symbolic language to refer to real things. In symbolic terms, “mountains” refer to “governments.” So, the “mountain of the LORD’s house” means “the government of the LORD.” This is a government set up by Jesus Christ, with Him ruling, RIGHT HERE ON EARTH, IN PERSON.

The verse further says, this government of the Eternal will be established on the “top of the mountains.” That means that even the strongest, most powerful nations on earth will be MADE to take direction from this government. Can you think of anything that will fundamentally change our world more, than God’s government directly ruling over the nations? Think about it. Whichever dictator you can imagine today… whichever strongman you can think of… Jesus Christ will personally be here, on earth, to subdue EACH AND EVERY leader of nations. It doesn’t matter how powerful a military they have—the Son of GOD will subdue and rule over them.

When we look at politics today, we are painfully reminded of the limits of human government. Whether it’s corrupt dictatorships ruling by intimidation and fear, or liberal democracies that are all-too-often self-absorbed and ineffectual, we cannot seem to rule ourselves well. We see the frailties of our system in acts of injustice, and in the breakdown of law and order. We just can’t seem to rule ourselves.

But we in this Work, can tell you, without hesitation, WORLD UNITY IS COMING. No, it won’t be brought by a secret international society. And it won’t come about by some political movement sweeping over society. Every election cycle there are millions of well-meaning and sincere people who desperately hope, maybe this time, that things will get better. But lasting peace always seems to be just beyond our grasp. The reason is, there is only one source of true world peace. And that is the PERSONAL, DIRECT RULE ON EARTH by the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

He will govern here on earth. That’s what Isaiah predicted. Can you think of anyone better suited to rule the nations than the Son of God? He’s forgiving, He’s loving, and He’s compassionate to the needs of the weak and helpless. And yet, He will come in strength to subdue those bent on evil and oppression. Not only that, He will have a corps of righteous rulers working under Him, trained to govern just like Him. Notice what Jesus told His disciples in Luke 22:28,

“But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials. And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel” (Luke 22:28–30).

Think about what Jesus said. The twelve apostles will reign over the nations of Israel, under Jesus Christ. JUST IMAGINE a world run by righteous governors… REAL LEADERS committed to truth and justice at ALL times. No corruption. No political back-stabbing. No compromising and no back-door deals. ALL leaders dedicated to truth and justice. What would that world be like? Do you want to see this? It’s not here yet… But it IS coming. The Bible declares it.

Not only that, YOU can be a part of that team of righteous leaders Christ will use to bring peace, order, and love to this earth. Jesus did not limit that honor to His twelve disciples only. Notice what He said in the parable of the minas. In this familiar story, He described how a certain nobleman went to a far country to receive a kingdom. This is clearly a reference to Jesus Himself. He called His citizens and gave them an amount of money to work with until He returned. When He came back, He handed out rewards based on their deeds. But notice the specific rewards He gave them. In Luke 19:16 we read:

“Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities’” (Luke 19:16–17).

Did you catch that? They were given a chance to rule over cities. That’s talking about the millennium. That 1,000-year period of the Son of God ruling on this earth. What an opportunity! If WE are willing to be trained by Jesus Christ today, you and I can directly impact THOUSANDS or even MILLIONS of people in the future. That hope and future helps us ENDURE the trials and tests of this life... Because we know a better world is coming. And WE can be there, too.

Perfect Laws in the Kingdom of Heaven

In the last segment of this program, we saw that the prophet Isaiah outlined certain hallmarks of the millennium. One of them is good, righteous rulers. This world desperately needs that.

But what else will happen during the 1,000-year reign of Christ? According to Isaiah, the millennium will also be a time of, Number 2:

2. Fair and Just Laws

Let’s go back to Isaiah 2. After describing how God’s government will establish itself over the governments of this world, what happens then? We read in Isaiah 2:3,

“Many people shall come and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem” (Isaiah 2:3).

Zion is referring to Christ’s capital in Jerusalem. Jesus, as King of kings, will establish new laws to be taught all over the world. But where will those laws come from? Well, from THIS BOOK, the Bible. From “the word of the LORD,” as Isaiah said. But what laws does the Bible teach?

In Exodus 20 we find a beautifully concise summation of ten basic laws of God. Not thousands of laws taking up reams of paper and volumes of books, but TEN SIMPLE LAW. They’re easy to remember and not hard to understand. Laws like the one found in Exodus 20:12,

“Honor your father and your mother…” (Exodus 20:12).

Imagine what the world would be like, if that commandment was taught as a law, and became a fabric of society. How would it change the world? What if children in every nation and every culture were taught and reminded and encouraged to love and honor their parents? Would that be a positive change? Now, of course, children can be children. They make mistakes and misbehave sometimes… They’re children! But they also respond to loving and kind but firm direction. This world could be so different if just THAT ONE LAW were embraced and taught every level of society. Under Christ’s rule, that WILL HAPPEN.

Another law found in the Ten Commandments is found in verse 15 of Exodus 20:

“You shall not steal” (Exodus 20:15).

What would it be like if that law was taught and reinforced, to every member of society, from little on? What if that was a value continually reinforced by every governor and judge and mayor? What if no leaders were EVER accused of embezzling public funds or skimming corporate profits? Just think: If every time a thief was caught for stealing, he was dealt with real justice, evenly administered, and with the real opportunity to make it right, what a change it would make. Well, that will be a law of the land in Isaiah’s picture of the Millennium.

Another law found in Exodus 20:8 is:

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy” (Exodus 20:8).

What if the whole world was taught that every seven days, you get a day off? Guaranteed. Your work is done, you get to rest. It’s a time to be refreshed and renewed. So many people today are stressed out by the frenetic pace of life. They work non-stop and can’t stop. They’re trapped in life, and are discouraged and depressed and feel like they are DROWNING. The seventh-day Sabbath is the remedy. God created the Sabbath by resting on the seventh day, after six days of creation. And He wants us to enjoy one day a week when WE rest in body, mind, and spirit. On that day, He wants us to fill our minds with the higher thoughts of His ways and His words. Imagine if the whole world was practicing this wonderful principle and law.

By the way, in case you doubt the whole world will ever be keeping the seventh-day Sabbath together, let me quickly refer you to another prophecy of Isaiah, in chapter 66 verse 23:

“‘And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me,’ says the LORD” (Isaiah 66:23).

How could it be any clearer? We haven’t even talked about the law against murder, and adultery, and lying, and profanity. These Laws and others will be used to teach EVERYONE to love God and love their neighbor. And upon repentance and baptism, they’ll be forgiven of past sin, through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. They will come to know just how much He loves them, and cares for them. He will give them His Spirit, which will enable them to understand His truth, and grow to walk in His ways.

That’s the wonderful world to come. That’s the society of the 1,000-year reign of Son of God. And you and I can start preparing NOW by committing our life to Christ and living this way now! And we can even be numbered in the saints who will help establish that world of tomorrow.

A Paradise With No More War

There’s one more aspect of the millennium that we’ll talk about in this program. In addition to good and righteous government, and fair and just laws, it will be a time of:

3. Real and Lasting Peace

Is that possible? Could we really see the cessation of war? For the past 100 years, the world has been desperately trying to stop the scourge of war. World War I was the costliest war in human history, until that time. It’s estimated there were over 20 million military and civilian deaths in World War I. In 1920, after the war, the League of Nations was formed. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the League of Nations was envisioned to be the place where international disputes could be resolved.

But that didn’t happen. World War II erupted 19 years later. It was fought all over the world: from the jungles of Burma to the deserts of North Africa and the beaches of Normandy. World War II caused the deaths of another estimated 40 to 50 million people. After that bloody war, another international body was formed, called the United Nations. According to the UN website, it was formed with one central mission: “the maintenance of international peace and security” (“What We Do,” UN.org/en/sections/what-we-do/). And the United Nations has sent peacekeeping forces all over the world, on 70 different missions. But sadly, the UN has NOT been able to stop war. From 1945 to 2017, there have been over 160 different armed conflicts around the world, resulting in more than 13 million deaths.

Will things ever change? The Bible says yes. The Book of Isaiah says there IS a coming time when the guns and bombs and rockets WILL CEASE. Well how will that happen?

After describing the government of God teaching and enforcing the righteous laws of God, Isaiah then says, in chapter 2 verse 4:

“He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore” (Isaiah 2:4).

Nation shall not lift up sword against nation. What a difference from our day. In 2019, the total amount of military expenditures worldwide was $1.9 trillion (“India third largest military spender in world, after US and China,” The Economic Times, April 27, 2020).

That’s almost 2 trillion dollars. To put it into perspective, if ONE trillion dollar bills were stacked one on top of each other, you could build a tower 1/3 of the way to the moon (“BRAIN TWISTER: What does 1 trillion look like?” The Dispatch, August 3, 2019). And this figure is DOUBLE that.

Put another way, the globalgiving.org website estimates that for $265 billion a year, world hunger could be eliminated (“How Much Would It Cost To End World Hunger?” GlobalGiving.org, December 2, 2019). And that’s a high end estimate—other estimates show it could be ended for much, much less. But even at that amount—$265 billion—just imagine: That’s what it would take to make sure that no one, on planet earth, would go hungry FOR A WHOLE YEAR. And yet we spend about EIGHT TIMES that on guns and tanks and airplanes. What a day that will be, when this prophecy comes to pass.

Outside of the UN headquarters in New York City, there is a famous statue. It’s of a man beating a sword into a farming tool. At the base of that statue is THIS SCRIPTURE we’ve been reading from Isaiah chapter 2. Has the United Nations ended war? CAN the UN end war? The answer is an emphatic NO. But Isaiah 2 gives us an inspiring and encouraging glimpse into the future… When God’s word assures us, that under the direction of the Son of God, WAR WILL END. He will make it happen.

Now, will some nations resist? Sure, that’s why it says He will “rebuke many people.” Some will have to learn the hard way. But over time, most will surely see the value of submitting to Jesus Christ and enjoying the blessings of living in peace.

The Gospel of the Kingdom—News for Our Time!

As we close, let’s look at some of Jesus’ own words. When He began His ministry, He had a message to give. What was that message? In Mark 1:14 we read:

“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God” (Mark 1:14).

Jesus was preaching the GOOD NEWS of the Kingdom of God. And what we’ve seen today, through the eyes of the prophet Isaiah, is a glimpse into that glorious kingdom ON THIS EARTH. Not up in Heaven, but right here ON THIS EARTH. And truly, when we comprehend what a change Jesus Christ will bring to this suffering and troubled world, that message IS “good news.”

That age of Christ’s reign on earth is coming… It’s not far off. He will be the King of kings, and Lord of lords. He will bring integrity and righteousness to the administration of the earth. He will stop the chaos and confusion in our streets. He will teach laws which promote a way of life of love and harmony. And He will put to end the cycle of war and violence that plagues this world.

Humanity cannot solve its problems. But JESUS CHRIST CAN. And He WILL. And because He is our Savior, Who loves us, and cares for us, He will rule the right way. He has our best interests at heart. After all, hasn’t He proven that by GIVING HIS LIFE FOR US?

We yearn for the day when our Savior, the Son of God, is here with us on this earth… And this vision of the future will be REALITY.

Prayer is Our Lifeline to God

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed hundreds of thousands. And it has affected the mental health of millions who have faced dangers in their city, state, province, or nation. One report by KFF, the Kaiser Family Foundation, reveals the negative effect on people’s mental health.

“The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic downturn have negatively affected many people’s mental health and created new barriers for people already suffering from mental illness and substance use disorders. In a recent KFF poll, nearly half (45%) of adults in the United States reported that their mental health has been negatively impacted due to worry and stress over the virus” (“The Implications of Covid-19 for Mental Health and Substance Abuse,” Kaiser Family Foundation, KFF.org, April 21, 2020).

Are you one of the millions stressed and worried? Are there strategies to cope with the crises affecting all of us? Believe it or not, your Bible gives solid keys for facing these global problems with faith and confidence.

The KFF report explains the problem further:

“Though necessary to prevent loss of life due to COVID-19, these public health measures expose many people to experiencing situations that are linked to poor mental health outcomes, such as isolation and job loss. Additionally, feelings of anxiety are increasingly common, as people are fearful of themselves or loved ones falling ill and are uncertain of the repercussions of the pandemic” (ibid.).

SEGMENT 2: Learning to Pray

Warm greetings to all our friends around the world!

Nearly every nation on earth is facing historic health and financial crises. Just half-way into 2020, more than 8 million people had tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. More than 400,000 had died. Economies are devastated. How many countries will survive the global economic meltdown? The Washington Post featured this headline: “More than 90 countries plead for financial lifelines as coronavirus wreaks economic havoc across the globe.”

The Post describes the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic:

“Global financial leaders are facing calls to speed emergency help to roughly one-half of the countries on the planet, as the coronavirus pandemic threatens to wreck the health and finances of billions of people in the developing world. The United States, Europe and Japan are sinking into what many economists say will be the worst global recession since the 1930s amid efforts to halt the runaway respiratory illness. But deteriorating conditions in dozens of emerging markets could add to the industrial economies’ pain and complicate their eventual recovery. If left unchecked, the catastrophe descending upon countries such as South Africa, Brazil, India and Lebanon could shake the industrialized world.” (“More than 90 countries plead for financial lifelines as coronavirus wreaks economic havoc across the globe,” The Washington Post, WashingtonPost.com, April 13, 2020).

My friends, we need God’s coming Kingdom to bring peace and prosperity to the whole world. And, as we pray for that kingdom to come, we can also find great comfort, peace of mind, and faith to face the dangerous world. In its 2019-20 bushfire season, Australia’s wildfires killed more than a billion kangaroos, koalas, and other animals. Subsequent floods did further damage. In the first half of 2020, the COVID-19 virus killed more than 400,000 around the world, while millions more suffered loss of jobs and livelihoods and even the loss of once-prosperous businesses. Governing authority has come into question after severe apparent abuses of police power. Even the best governments struggled to cope with the chaos, while others lost control and watched helplessly as angry citizens turned from peaceful protest to looting, plundering, and deadly violence.

How can we cope with the stress and turmoil around us? Your Bible gives us keys to face the challenges in our lifetime. And we are living in the prophesied period of time called in your Bible, the end-time. God has given us a way to succeed even in times of trouble. One vital gift God gives to those who follow His instructions is the power of prayer. Despair over our troubled world is nothing new. Sixty years ago, all I could see on the international horizon was potential nuclear war between the two superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union. The world had some solace in the strategy of MAD: Mutually Assured Destruction. Both powers had enough nuclear weapons to destroy all life on earth! We still face that same world danger, today! Back then, I personally became depressed at the prospect of seeing the world totally destroyed. Then I heard a radio program called The World Tomorrow. The speaker, Herbert W. Armstrong, powerfully proclaimed the good news from the Bible, that the Messiah, Jesus Christ, will return to save the planet from cosmocide! I began to study Bible prophecy and grew in faith and hope for the future.

I was encouraged by God’s promise in JEREMIAH 29:10, “For thus says the LORD:… For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and FIND Me, when you search for Me WITH ALL YOUR HEART. I will be found by you, says the LORD….”

Seeking God felt awkward at first, but I persisted in prayer. God kept His promise, and I began to have peace of mind. You, too, can have peace of mind, IF you seek God with your whole heart and mind. We need God’s love, protection, and guidance as we near the end of this age. Our world will soon face increasing cataclysm and turmoil. Jesus stated in Luke 21:25, “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; [LISTEN TO THIS] men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken” (Luke 21:25–26).

Prayer will keep your heart free from fear in the times ahead.

What Are the Five Keys?

In the remainder of this program, I want to share with you five keys to answered prayer.

Key Number One to Answered Prayer is: PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT WORRIES YOU.

Are you anxious? Turn in your Bible to Philippians 4:6, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” Our Father in heaven wants you to share with Him your worries and anxieties. When you face your concerns, you need to pray and talk in detail with God about your problems. Ancient King David was very open with God in his prayers. Turn to Psalm 6, for example. David was suffering and prayed to God from his heart. Psalm 6:1, “O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. My soul also is greatly troubled; but You, O LORD—HOW long? Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! For in death there is no remembrance of You; in the grave who will give You thanks?” (Psalm 6:1–5).

Read the Psalms and see how David prayed from the heart. You need to share your problems with God in prayer. And what will be the result? Listen to this comforting promise in Philippians 4, verse 7: “…and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Yes, you can have peace of mind through prayer. Key Number One: PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT WORRIES YOU. Key Number Two is: CLAIM GOD’S PROMISES. If you have your Bible, turn to 2 Peter 1:2. Notice here that God has given us through His word, the holy Scriptures, not just “promises,” but “exceedingly great and precious promises.” 2 Peter 1, verse 2. The Apostle Peter writes: “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (vv. 2–4).

The Bible is a goldmine of guaranteed promises. But there’s a requirement. You must BELIEVE that God will give them to us if we pray according to His will. Jesus chided His audience as He explained God’s willingness to provide our every need. He told His listeners in Matthew 6:28, “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (vv. 28–30).

We need to trust God to provide for us. He has all power in the universe. He owns everything that exists. Consider His promise to you, in your own Bible: He has promised:

• To answer our prayers (Matthew 7:7–8);
• To fulfill all our needs (Philippians 4:19);
• To guide our lives (Proverbs 3:5–6);
• To grant us long life, if we honor our father and mother (Ephesians 6:2–3);
• To fulfill the desires of our heart, IF we delight in Him (Psalm 37:4–5);
• To give us peace of mind (Philippians 4:6–7);
• To strengthen us to endure trials (1 Corinthians 10:13);
• To give us the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; Luke 11:13);
• To give us the gift of His love (Romans 5:5);
• And to give us eternal life (1 John 2:25).

My friends, study these promises. Remind God that He has given YOU these promises. Ask God in faith to fulfill these promises in YOUR LIFE, and you’ll begin to have a greater peace of mind! And, you’ll be fulfilling one of the keys to answered prayer.

How Did Jesus Pray? “Your Will Be Done”!

There are many, many more promises in the Bible for you and your family, and for all human beings on earth. Be sure to make your own list as you read them in your Bible. Key Number Two: CLAIM GOD’S PROMISES. Key Number Three is: THANK GOD CONTINUALLY.

Where do your blessings come from? The source of everything good in our lives is the Creator of all things. When we ask God for anything, we need to ask with an attitude of appreciation for His blessings and His promises. Remember, when you pray about your anxieties, fears and worries—that’s the first Key we discussed—to pray with THANKSGIVING. Again, Philippians 4:6: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with THANKSGIVING, let your requests be made known to God.”

When you pray with thanksgiving, you exercise faith that God is listening to your requests! When was the last time you thanked God for your blessings? Some of you may be familiar with the old nineteenth century hymn, “Count Your Blessings.” Here are some of the words: “When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, when you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done” (1897, Johnson Oatman, “Count Your Blessings,” Hymnary.org).

When you COUNT your blessings, when you THANK God for all the blessings you’ve experienced or WILL experience in your life, you can have peace of mind! Again PHILIPPIANS 4:7, “And the PEACE OF GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

My friends, count your blessings and express heartfelt gratitude to God. King David even thanked God in the middle of the night. Psalm 119:62, “At midnight I will rise [and] give thanks to You, because of Your righteous judgments.”

Key Number Three to answered prayer is: THANK GOD CONTINUALLY. Key Number Four is: SEEK GOD’S WILL. How would you characterize human nature? Not only is it UN-thankful, but it is also vanity, lust, and greed! Just a simple review of world history demonstrates humanity’s selfishness. Most people seek their OWN WILL and not God’s! Often, even professing Christians pray selfishly. They want to GET, more than they want to GIVE. Remember Jesus’ statement in Acts 20:35, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Or as the Moffatt translation has it: “To give is happier than to get.”

Yes, we should pray and claim God’s promise that He will provide our every need (Philippians 4:19). Yes, we can even rejoice in claiming God’s promise to give us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4), but our attitude must always be, “Your will be done”! What did Jesus teach us to pray? MATTHEW 6:10, “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

My friends, this is an extremely important key to answered prayer. Human beings are on the whole extremely selfish. The world’s way of life is one of greed. But Jesus sought to do His Father’s will. When Jesus prayed in agony the night before His crucifixion, He asked that the cup of suffering be passed from Him—IF it were God’s will! In LUKE 22:42, Jesus prayed, saying, “‘Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.’ Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.”

Jesus was willing to suffer for YOU and Me. He surrendered HIS will to His Father’s will! Let me tell you. When you’re struggling over some problem or trial, ask for God’s deliverance, but ALSO pray that His will be done. God strengthened Jesus to endure the sacrifice He was to make, and he will strengthen you. When I prayed to visit Jerusalem years ago, I prayed that God’s will be done. But He knew WHEN it would be best for me to fulfill the desires of my heart. So, 17 years after my first request, God gave me that wonderful blessing. Key Number Four to answered prayer is: SEEK GOD’S WILL.

Staying Connected to God as a Family

Key Number Five concerns our relationship with God and His Son Jesus Christ. By whose authority do you pray to God in heaven? Notice what Jesus told His disciples. Turn to John 16. Our Lord and Savior gave this instruction in John 16:23, “And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.”

Key Number Five to answered prayer is: PRAY IN JESUS’ NAME. Jesus the Christ is at the right hand of God in heaven. He is our great High Priest who ever lives to make intercession for us, as it tells us Hebrews 7:25. He gives us the authority to pray to God in heaven. We pray in Jesus’ name and authority. Since He’s given us that authority, we can pray boldly. Notice that in Hebrews 4:16, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

We can pray with confidence because Christ is our High Priest and Savior. He sympathizes with our weaknesses. He knows what it’s like to suffer. He was tempted in all points, as we are, yet without sin, as it tells us in verse 15.

My friends, God wants you to be His begotten son or daughter. He loves you and has demonstrated that love by giving His son to pay for your sins. Most of you know the precious verse or golden verse of the Bible: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

My friends, you can rejoice in God’s love for you as He answers your prayers! On today’s program, we’ve briefly discussed five keys to answered prayer.
