“Abortion presents a profound moral question.” So said the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which on Friday, June 24 explicitly overruled earlier Court decisions in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v.

Responding to a question on NBC’s Meet the Press, presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson raised controversy with his statement, “I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that.” Is Carson’s perspective correct? What is the Christian perspective on this matter?

German Prime Minister Angela Merkel shocked many with her recent comment about her nation’s commitment to accept Middle Eastern refugees. “What we are experiencing now is something that will occupy and change our country in coming years,” she said, adding that “We want the change to be positive, and we believe we can accomplish that.” Is this simply the kind and generous act of a nation trying to make amends for its Nazi past? Is it an act of economic self-interest? Or might this influx of new residents bring with them an unintended consequence?
