Seven Signs of the End-Time Antichrist

Will you recognize the Antichrist of Bible prophecy? In this video, Wallace Smith explains seven identifying factors from scriptures. Learn what the Antichrist will teach, where, and how—so you can avoid being deceived.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

The Antichrist—Already Here in Today’s World

Perhaps no figure looms larger in our prophesied future than the ANTICHRIST. Your Bible is clear that he IS coming, and that a level of destruction, persecution, and death arrive with him—such as the world has never seen before or will ever see again. And there is cause to believe that he is alive TODAY—certainly, his tools of deception are ALREADY in place and ALREADY impact the lives of most who consider themselves “Christian” today.

Will you be among the few to recognize him when he steps onto the world stage? Most won’t—but you can.

Join us for this episode of Tomorrow’s World, as we reveal Seven Signs of the End-Time Antichrist!

Relevant Prophecies About the Antichrist and His Impact

Greetings, and welcome to Tomorrow’s World—where we help you make sense of your world through the pages of the Bible.

Consider this list of famous—or infamous—men: Ronald Reagan, King Juan Carlos (of Spain), Saddam Hussein, King Charles III, Bill Gates, Henry Kissinger, and Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum.

What do they have in common? Well, each, at one time or another, has been accused of being the Antichrist—that dark and mysterious figure foretold by Bible prophecy.

Some of these men are dead. Some are still alive. NONE of them fit the Bible’s description. Today, we will reveal SEVEN SIGNS of the END-TIME ANTICHRIST, as detailed by Bible prophecy, that will enable anyone to identify who the final Antichrist is.

Now, in our world of high-tech wonders and modern comforts, talk of an “antichrist” might seem archaic—“doom and gloom” preaching in an age that has moved beyond scriptures and prophecies.

But the opposite is true. Time hasn’t left prophecy behind—rather time has finally CAUGHT UP to prophecy, and only now do the times in which we live fit the circumstances describing the end-time stage onto which the Antichrist will enter.

For instance, Matthew 24 and verse 22 says that in those prophesied days, it would be possible that “no flesh would be saved” from mankind’s destructive capacity. That has only really been true since we entered the era of weapons of mass destruction, capable of eradicating humanity. And Daniel 12:4 describes the end-times of prophecy as an era when many “run to and fro” and “knowledge shall increase”—ancient words that describe our modern world, in which global travel is commonplace and we are beginning to suffer from a daily deluge of information.

No, the prophecies of the Antichrist are not dusty old writings, irrelevant for our modern age. They were WRITTEN for our modern age—inspired by the God who declares the end from the beginning! [Isaiah 46:10] And His warnings about the final Antichrist are VITAL. Because his rise is profoundly connected to more death, destruction, and human suffering than humanity has ever before experienced—a period called in the pages of Scripture, the Great Tribulation.

During the lives of most of you watching this today, the Antichrist WILL rise to power and deceive the VAST MAJORITY OF HUMANITY—subtly and seductively swaying men and women around the world to willingly accept a false and demonic COUNTERFEIT of Christianity! In fact, that version of Christianity is ALREADY present on the earth, possessing great influence. Many of you watching, right now, are already under its sway, making you all the more vulnerable to this future tyrant.

Imagine the full complement of modern warfare—the almost limitless destructive capacity of mankind—available at the beck and call of a man under the direct influence of Satan the Devil, devoted to destroying true Christianity—and true Christians—from the face of the earth, ensuring that it is replaced with a religion that SOUNDS like true Christianity, and uses the NAME of Jesus Christ, but which represents the very opposite of the Christianity of Jesus Christ.

That individual IS coming. Whether or not you will be able to recognize the Antichrist WILL BE a matter of life and death. And prophecy is plain: Most WILL NOT recognize him.

But you CAN recognize him with the SEVEN SIGNS that we will reveal on the remainder of today’s program.

These Seven Signs Identify Him

And this first sign is one most get wrong.

  1. According to God’s word, the Antichrist is NOT a military or political leader. Rather, the Antichrist will lead a RELIGION, a great FALSE CHURCH.

This mistake arises because many confuse the Antichrist with the Beast of Revelation, which IS a military, political, and economic powerhouse that WILL dominate the world. However, while they are connected, the Antichrist and the Beast are two distinct beings. Turn to Revelation chapter 17. Here the Apostle John records a vision, shown to Him by Jesus Christ and the angels under His command:

And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Revelation 17:1–5).

There is MUCH that is worth noting in this passage, but I want to focus on one particular point. The Beast here with seven heads and ten horns, ridden by a prostitute, is the end-time military-economic juggernaut called the Beast of Revelation. But what of the woman?

Normally a rider mounts a beast to control it and influence its movements—and this beast is being ridden, or guided, by a prostitute.

If you’ve watched Tomorrow’s World for long, you know that we allow the Bible to interpret its own symbols, and women in the Bible are frequently used to picture different faiths and religious organizations.

But rather than the chaste virgin that God uses to symbolize His church in passages such as 2 Corinthians 11:2 and Revelation 19:7–8, the church that is riding this powerful Beast is described as a wealthy prostitute.

Fornication, adultery, and harlotry are often used by God to symbolize the corrupting influence of RELIGIOUS COMPROMISE with pagan practices and pagan worship, as in Jeremiah 3 and Ezekiel 16.

The religious system of the ANTICHRIST is the Harlot riding this Beast! It is not the SAME as the Beast. In fact, later in Revelation 17:16, we see that the Beast will eventually TURN on the woman to destroy her. No, the Harlot RIDES the Beast—manipulating it, influencing it, guiding it for her purposes.

This is why the Apostle John, in 1 John 4:1–3 speaks of the Antichrist in the context of false prophets—because he will be the ULTIMATE false prophet!—not a military or political ruler, but a RELIGIOUS FIGURE who will control the most powerful church on earth. In turn, he and that church will influence the military-economic powerhouse known as the End Time Beast Power of Revelation.

What more can we understand about the religious system led by this Antichrist?

That brings us to today’s second sign of the Antichrist:

  1. The Antichrist will appear CHRIST-LIKE and come IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

In his powerful Olivet Prophecy given on the Mount of Olives in the area of Jerusalem and recorded in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, Jesus Christ warned His disciples that many would come practicing religious deception, and come in HIS OWN NAME—that is, the NAME of JESUS CHRIST! And they did! John reveals the spread of that deceptive, counterfeit Christianity even in the first century, saying in 1 John 2 and verse 18, “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.”

Yes, many antichrists had come by the time John wrote those words, and the deceptive, counterfeit Christianity they wove, falsely under the name of Jesus Christ, persists and dominates world religions today!

Many fail to recognize that the word “antichrist” represents more than a person. It represents a system of belief that APPEARS Christian, but is actually a COUNTERFEIT to true Christianity. Paul writes in the Bible of those who preached “another Jesus” and brought a “different gospel” (2 Corinthians 11:4). This system has been in place since the time of the Apostles, and in John’s own day, many representing that system, “many antichrists,” were already preaching.

The final, end-time Antichrist will be the culmination of this deception—a great False Prophet representing this false Christianity who will APPEAR very Christian on the outside. Turn to Revelation 13 with me, where we see the Antichrist described in prophetic symbolism.

Beginning in v. 11, we read of a different beast rising from the earth—not the seven-headed Beast of Revelation: “Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon” (Revelation 13:11).

Scripture consistently uses the Lamb as a symbol for Christ but a Dragon as a symbol for the devil! So this False Prophet to come, this final Antichrist, will LOOK like the Lamb, Jesus Christ! He may seem kind, compassionate—he may seem to teach from the Bible! Yet prophecy says he will be speaking the words of the DRAGON, the DEVIL! The Christianity he teaches will be a subtle, twisted version of Christianity—NOT the Christianity of Jesus Christ, even though it will claim His name!

The Antichrist and His Laws and Teachings

One of the tools the end-time Antichrist will use to deceive even the skeptical and bring them into his twisted version of Christianity is our next sign:

  1. He will eventually work “miracles” and supernatural “wonders.”

Staying in Revelation 13, let’s continue to read, beginning in verse 13: “He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast…” (Revelation 13:13–14).

This individual will have the ability to call fire from heaven, much like the prophet Elijah did in the Old Testament. How amazing will that be! In 2 Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul describes this coming false prophet, mentioning in chapter 2 verse 9: “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders” (2 Thessalonians 2:9).

But the key to resisting the appeal of supernatural signs, intended to deceive, is to compare the “miracle worker’s” teachings to God’s truth. Remember, the Antichrist LOOKS like Jesus Christ, but SPEAKS like the SUBTLE DRAGON, Satan the Devil.

That brings us to the fourth sign:

  1. He will DENY that Christ continues to come in the flesh.

This is a VITAL point, but a subtle one—easy to miss. We dive into detail on this crucial sign in our free booklet, but let me summarize.

This doctrine of the Antichrist is described in 2 John 7: “For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.”

Now, many think John just means that antichrists teach Jesus didn’t really come in the flesh 2,000 years ago. And, yes, John condemns such falsehoods.

But read carefully: John says that the deceivers do not teach Christ as coming in the flesh.” That is a present tense verb—continuing to come in the flesh.

Dr. Charles B. Williams, whose translation of the New Testament is praised for its attention to the detail of the Greek verbs in the original New Testament text, translates this passage as saying that the antichrist does not confess that Christ continues to come in the flesh.

But what does that mean?

It means that the Antichrist does not teach that Jesus Christ CONTINUES to live in Christians TODAY, reliving the life He lived 2,000 years ago, helping them to grow in obedience and godly character.

The Apostle Paul explained this in a beautiful passage. Let’s read it in the King James Version, Galatians 2:20: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

This is why Paul says in Romans 5:10 that we are reconciled by His death, but SAVED BY HIS LIFE. As opposed to Christ doing it all at His crucifixion as many false preachers teach, Christ lives His life in the converted Christian daily, helping him or her grow and conquer sin NOW, in THIS life! The Antichrist will deny this fundamental but often ignored teaching, and this connects directly to our fifth sign:

  1. The Antichrist will REJECT God’s law.

Remember: we read in 2 Thessalonians 2 that Paul called the final Antichrist “lawless.” But God isn’t concerned here with HUMAN laws. The Antichrist will oppose the laws of GOD.

In fact, he will REPLACE GOD’S LAWS as REVEALED in the BIBLE with religious laws rooted in HUMAN TRADITION and PAGAN SUPERSTITION.

Daniel chapter 7 describes this effort of the Antichrist. We see this end-time false prophet described in detail in verse 25: “He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time” (Daniel 7:25).

He will “CHANGE TIMES AND LAW”—he will replace the times of worship as God designed them with a counterfeit set of worship days, and he will replace the laws of God with a different set of laws—laws that will feel Christian, but will NOT be rooted in the laws of God, revealed in the Bible.

The Antichrist will promote MAN-MADE church laws, creeds, confessions, and traditions and will claim the authority to OVERRULE the clear commandments and laws of God revealed in Scripture! Church calendars with man-made holidays will OVERRULE the holy days and festivals of God, found in your Bible! This coming “lawless one”—the Antichrist—will claim authority that no one but God Almighty has, attempting to change the very law of God... And, frankly, many of you watching today are ALREADY affected by this.

Who Can Escape the Antichrist’s Persecution?

However, the Antichrist will not be content with simply converting the world to false teachings. He will also want to deal with the few who dare to believe the true teachings of the Bible that contradict His false doctrine. That leads to our sixth, tragic sign:

  1. The Antichrist will PERSECUTE true Christians.

We saw this mentioned in Daniel 7:25, where we read that the Antichrist “shall persecute the saints of the Most High”—true followers of God and those who keep his laws and his commandments, not the man-made doctrines, holy days, and teachings of the Antichrist.

Jesus Christ warned of this time when He told His disciples in John 16:2 that a time will come when those who kill true Christians will think they are doing God a service!

Think back to the images you have seen of concentration camps and the horrors of World War II, in which millions of Jews were herded to their deaths. Now imagine such machinery turned onto a new minority, those Christians Jesus calls His “little flock,” who actually believe in the Ten Commandments of God and in the need to obey them.

Revelation 12 describes the anger true Christians’ obedience engenders in Satan the Devil and how he will respond: “[T]he dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17).

How does the Antichrist accomplish this persecution? That power is connected to our final sign:

  1. The Antichrist will point the world to a revived “Roman Empire”— a political/military powerhouse of strength and might such as the world has never seen before.

Remember—the woman RIDES THE BEAST! Revelation 13 tells of how the False Prophet will influence the people of the world to support the coming Beast of Revelation, and how the Antichrist will influence the might of this Beast Power—an end-time, revived “Roman Empire” that will outshine even the power and might of the United States today. He will direct the might of the Beast AGAINST those who refuse to cast aside the laws of God and the true worship of Jesus Christ, and who refuse to accept the FALSE Christianity the Antichrist offers. The result will be a MODERN-DAY INQUISITION on a horrific scale, never before seen in human history.

This unholy alliance of false church and tyrannical state will DOMINATE THE WORLD in the end-times just ahead of us.

Even with their powers combined, this most powerful of religious, political, economic, and military entities will still be NO MATCH for the returning Jesus Christ! He will return in their days to glorify His faithful followers and to establish the Kingdom of God, forever!

So, what do we DO about these things? Remember: The “Antichrist system” that this final Antichrist will sell to the whole world exists TODAY, and most are already deceived by it! We do not need to wait until this religious despot appears on the scene—we can act NOW to reject his system and his Counterfeit Christianity. As Jesus admonishes all of us in Luke 21 and verse 36, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36).

Yes, Jesus does promise protection for those who are not ashamed to reject the false Christianity around them and who are willing to embrace the fullness of His teachings and life—allowing Him to live His life of obedience to God’s commandments in their lives today.

We hope you will heed His admonition and avoid the deceptions of the coming end-time Antichrist and his religious system at work in the world today.

2024 in Bible Prophecy

Find out five trends to watch unfold in 2024, straight from end-time Bible prophecy—with Israel and the Middle East escalating to bring a call for international intervention, and Germany and Europe emerging in key roles.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

The Prophetic Future of Our World

Where is the ongoing war in the Middle East headed? Can Israel survive when it seems the whole world is lined up against it, and many chant “from the river to the sea”—meaning there can be no Israeli state—drive all the Jews out, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.

In what way will events in the Middle East affect you and your family? Can you know? And what about Europe, where there is still a very real war being waged by Western nations against Russia and its allies: China, North Korea, and Iran? Is it possible to know the future, and if so, how? And what should we watch for in 2024?

At the beginning of each year, we here at Tomorrow’s World give you trends to watch in the coming year and beyond. Our predictions come from an ancient source that has proven to be accurate and reliable, and that source is the Bible, where God makes this bold statement to the skeptic in Isaiah 46:9–10:

I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9–10).

That is a bold statement. Is it true? On today’s program you may be shocked at how precise and accurate Bible prophecy is regarding what you are seeing right now in the Middle East. And the Bible shows that events in that part of the world will affect the rest of the world.

Four Prophetic Trends

A warm welcome to all of you from all of us here at Tomorrow’s World. On today’s program I’ll be giving you five trends to watch in 2024 and beyond—especially in the Middle East. Thousands of years ago, the Bible foretold what you see in living color in today’s news.

None of us here at Tomorrow’s World are prophets, but we can read what the biblical prophets, under inspiration from God, foretold. How can we be so certain about the Bible as a reliable source for future events?

Answer: no human could so accurately tell what would happen thousands of years in advance. Do you doubt that? Well tell me this: What will happen 2,000 years from now, in the year 4024? Pick any nation, any city, any people and make your prediction. And what about 3,700 years from now? Where will the Jews be then? Will they have a country they call their own? What about Germany or the United States? What about cities such as New York, London, Berlin, or Jerusalem? Give it your best shot and see if you can match God for precision and accuracy—not that you will be alive in the flesh to know what happens, but I think you get the point. Making predictions that far into the future is impossible apart from God.

Based on Bible prophecy, let’s review what I said last January, as we looked ahead to 2023.

Trend #1: The crisis in Europe will continue until a strongman arises to bring ten kings together.

And just as there were two legs and feet in Nebuchadnezzar’s image, so there will be two legs in this combine of nations. So,

Trend #2: Watch for a geopolitical realignment in the next few years between eastern and western Europe.

The invasion of Ukraine moved countries such as Germany to begin rearming—something we’ve predicted for decades. Several U.S. presidents put pressure on Germany to do more militarily—but to no avail. The invasion did it in a matter of hours. These two predictions WILL come to pass. A strongman WILL rise up in the very near future, and bring together ten nations or leaders in Europe, and this implies a geopolitical realignment. Therefore, watch Europe as there will likely be surprises along the way.

After giving those two trends to watch in Europe, I then shifted to the Middle East and to what to expect where you may live.

Even though we cannot know the exact timing, the stage for these biblical prophecies is being set. But also, let’s not forget what is happening in the Middle East. Jerusalem is at the center of many Bible prophecies. So,

Trend #3: Expect greater tension in the Middle East between Israel and her neighbors.

But what about where most of you live who are watching this telecast? Expect:

Trend #4: More chaos, confusion, division, and disasters (manmade and natural) for America and the British-descended peoples.

Yes, when you think it can’t get any worse, 2023 may once again prove that notion wrong. The United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, and other British descended peoples are on a downward spiral, and unless we turn back to God—and we see no evidence of that—no elected leader will save us. We will have ups and downs, but the trend will continue down.

The last four years saw optimism for peace in the Middle East. The Abraham Accords brought normalization of relations between Israel and several of its neighbors. And both Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were optimistic about normalizing relations between their two countries—possibly as soon as a few days or a few weeks. And U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan declared:

And the middle east region is quieter today than it has been in two decades (“National Security Advisor Sullivan Said Mideast Is ‘Quieter’ Than Any Time Since 9/11 -- Eight Days Before Massive Hamas Attack,” RealClearPolitics.com, October 8, 2023).

He did say that could change, and it did only eight days later with the barbaric attacks by Hamas.

Jacob’s Prophecy About the End Times

More than 3,700 years ago, the grandson of Abraham brought his twelve sons to him and said,

Gather together, that I may tell you what shall befall you in the last days….

“In the last days” is specific, but it is doubtful that Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, had any idea how far into the future that would be. Apart from a revelation from God, no human being could possibly know what to expect of his progeny so far into the future. Now here is the prophecy for his son Judah, meaning the Jews.

Your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He bows down, he lies down as a lion; and as a lion, who shall rouse him? The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people (Genesis 49:8–10).

Note that the promised lawgiver—that is, the Messiah—would come from the Jews, and he did 1,700 years later. Many recognize this, but what about the part that describes the “time of the end” when the Jews would be as a lion that is best not roused? Is that not the history of the last 75 years and what we see even now? Dear friends, there are even more specific prophecies were given 2,500 years ago by the prophet Zechariah. Notice what God foretold through him in chapter 12 and verses 2–3:

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah [that is, the Jews] and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it (Zechariah 12:2–3).

Consider how specific and remarkable this passage is. Note these five points:

  1. The Jews will be in Jerusalem

That was far from a given—it has not always been that way. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD and expelled Jews from the Holy Land in 135 AD. For more than 1,800 years there was no Jewish state—not anywhere on earth. As Richard Ames explains in The Middle East in Prophecy:

… Jerusalem was in the hands of Byzantine rulers when it fell to a Muslim army led by Caliph Umar in 638. This crusade brought Jerusalem under Western control in the “Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem,” which held the city from 1099 to 1187, when Saladin reconquered Jerusalem for Islam. Later crusades brought Jerusalem briefly under Western control from 1229 to 1239, and from 1243 to 1244, when it was sacked by the Tatars. In 1247, the city fell to the Egyptian Mamluks, under whose control it remained until 1517, when Ottoman sultan Selim I conquered the city (The Middle East in Prophecy, p. 3).

In 1917, the British took control, and through a series of events, the Holy Land was partitioned, giving the Jews a portion of it. They declared their independence to form a Jewish homeland in 1948. Arab neighbors immediately attacked and tried to drive the Jews out, but the lion rose up and prevailed.

So while we may take it for granted that there is a Jewish state on the eastern end of the Mediterranean, it was not always so, not from 135 AD until 1948. But what else do we learn from Zechariah?

  1. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples (Zechariah 12:3).

Now, is that true, my friends? When this was written, Christianity was more than 500 years in the future, and Islam nearly 600 years after Christianity. Yet today, Jerusalem is at the heart of three religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. All lay claim to Jerusalem. It truly is a troublesome stone—the great sticking point in all peace talks.

  1. … all who would heave it away [the heavy stone of Jerusalem] will surely be cut in pieces (Zechariah 12:3).

Remember Jacob’s prediction that in the last days Judah would be like a resting lion that is best not aroused? In 1967, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nassar threatened Israel by moving troops to Israel’s border. Jordan and Syria would join the fight, but the Jews struck pre-emptively and defeated their enemies on all sides in a mere six days. In 1973 Israel’s neighbors attacked on the most sacred Jewish Holy Day—Yom Kippur—when the Jews were weak from fasting. But once again, they cut their enemies in pieces.

Predictions About Jerusalem, Judah, and Israel Coming True

What’s ahead in the Middle East as we enter 2024? What does the Bible have to say about it? As we are seeing, quite a bit. So far, we’ve seen three lessons from Zechariah 12.

  1. The Jews will be in Jerusalem.
  2. Jerusalem would be a very heavy stone in the world (Zechariah 12:3).
  3. … all who would heave it away [the heavy stone of Jerusalem] will surely be cut in pieces (Zechariah 12:3).

Now let’s look at another point from Zechariah 12:

  1. … though all nations of the earth are gathered against it [that is, Israel](Zechariah 12:3).

Are all nations gathered against the Jews? There are more United Nations resolutions condemning Israel than all other countries combined. And consider the massive demonstrations taking place all over the world against the Jews—in Russia, in China, in Germany, in France, in the United States, in Australia, in Britain.

The father of the Jews prophesied 3,700 years ago that they would be a powerful military force. They would be like a lion that is best not aroused. This is also confirmed in Zechariah 12:6:

In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place—Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:6).

This has hardly been the Jewish history until the last 75 years! So, we next read number five,

  1. The Jews ability to wield great military might

Dear friends, these are remarkable prophesies, but there is more. Despite their military prowess, there is coming a time in the near future when Jerusalem will be overrun by the Jews’ enemies. What happened October 7, 2023 will happen in Jerusalem. Zechariah 14 gives the details.

Behold, the day of the LORD is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city (Zechariah 14:1–2).

Note that Jerusalem today is a divided city, just as the prophet indicated when he said “Half the city shall go into captivity.” Again, Zechariah speaks of the world lining up against the Jews. Revelation 11:2 tells us that Jerusalem would be overrun by the Gentiles for a period of 3½ years leading up to the return of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months (Revelation 11:2).

The time setting of Zechariah 14 is yet future. It’s that 3½ year period of the Great Tribulation and the one-year day of the LORD when God’s wrath on rebellious mankind leads to Christ’s second coming. This is stated explicitly in verse 4:

And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south (Zechariah 14:4).

And if that is not clear enough, here is what it tells us in verse 9:

And the LORD shall be King over all the earth. In that day it shall be—“The LORD is one,” and His name one (Zechariah 14:9).

Five Continuing Prophetic Trends for 2024

So where are we in the scope of end-time Bible prophecy? Those who have eyes to see recognize that we are on the edge of a worldwide war of catastrophic proportions, just as the Bible shows elsewhere. But the end is not yet.

But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man (Luke 21:34–36).

So here are trends to watch in 2024 and the immediate years ahead.

#1: Watch for increasing demand for international intervention and control over Jerusalem

World leaders are already wondering what to do in the aftermath of this current war. Who will administer Gaza, the West Bank, and yes, Jerusalem itself? Mr. Richard Ames writes in The Middle East in Prophecy,

As violence escalates in the region around Jerusalem, watch for more world leaders to join in demanding international control of this ancient city held dear by Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike.

#2: Watch for the forming of what the Bible calls “the king of the South” arising in the Middle East and northeastern Africa.

The eleventh chapter of Daniel gives a detailed history of intrigue and war between a king of the north and a king of the south. This interplay between the two covers a period of 2,500 years, all the way to the time of Christ’s return. Verses 40–45 tell us how it will end.

At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through. He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels. But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many. And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas and the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and no one will help him (Daniel 11:40–45).

Psalm 83 speaks of a coalition of nations who conspire together against Israel. Is this not the attitude that we see right now?

They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more.” For they have consulted together with one consent; they form a confederacy against You (Psalm 83:4–5).

This coming confederacy will include Assyria—modern day Germany— and the European Beast power. This will be the king of the North, and this is why we say:

#3: Watch Europe—especially Germany

Expect to see the formation of a German led group of ten leaders or nations that the Bible refers to as the Beast.

#4: Watch for animal sacrifices to begin in Jerusalem.

This does not require a temple. The Jews began sacrificing after returning from Babylonian captivity prior to building the Second Temple. And finally,

#5: Watch for a charismatic miracle-working religious leader to rise up in Europe.

We cannot know exactly when these events will happen, but according to Bible prophecy, they will. As we have seen on today’s program, the Bible is very accurate and specific, and many prophecies are coming to pass right before our eyes.

What Should We Do about Christmas?

Mistletoe. Santa Claus. Yule log. Lighted trees. The real Christmas origin story is from ancient pagan holidays. Are pagan traditions and lies acceptable to God? How does God want you to worship Him? Watch to find out.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Why Keep Christmas?

Many people know that Christmas is pagan. The origins of this popular December holiday are not hidden. In fact, when Christmas comes around each year, we usually see magazine articles or Internet blogs explaining where these traditions came from. Many people are not confused about that.

The bigger question for some is, why does it matter? Should anyone even care where Christmas traditions came from? After all, isn’t the big issue about honoring Christ? Maybe the other details are trivial.

If you’ve ever wondered, “What should I do about Christmas?”, then stay tuned.

No Longer a Christian Holiday—Or Never Was?

Welcome to Tomorrow’s World, where we help you make sense of your world through the pages of the Bible.

Some people don’t keep Christmas. That may not come as a shock to you. You might be one of them. You might have come to that conclusion through your own study, in looking into the pagan origins of Christmas. And it might have caused you to think twice about keeping this popular holiday. If you have, you’re not alone.

Of course, many people still do keep Christmas. In fact, the vast majority of people in our Western nations do. According to the Gallup organization, as of December, 2019, 93% of Americans celebrate Christmas in one way or another. And that figure has been more or less consistent for decades (“What Percentage of Americans Celebrate Christmas?”, News.Gallup.com, December 23, 2019).

In Great Britain as well,  93% of the population celebrate the Christmas season (“18.12.2019 Christmas and New Year’s Survey amongst 1,000 British people reveals habits,” Statista.com, December 12, 2019).

In Canada, it’s a little less, 92% (“In Canada, Christmas traditions change as fewer people see religion as the reason for the season,” AngusReid.org, December 19, 2019).

In Mexico, 93% of those surveyed were planning to keep Christmas (“Plans to celebrate Christmas in Mexico in 2020,” Statista.com, October 11, 2022).

What about Russia? About two-thirds of their population celebrate Christmas. (“How is Christmas Celebrated in Russia?”, Russia Beyond, RBTH.com, December 9, 2019).

And in Germany, the figure stands at about 78% of the population (How Germany celebrates Christmas,” Deutschland.de, December 21, 2021).

These are just a few countries around the world. The point is, Christmas is widely celebrated.

And yet, many people know that its origins are not Christian at all. You probably do as well. If you don’t, or if you’re not sure, just pick up virtually any encyclopedia, or look online. Here is a quote from the online Encyclopedia Britannica, under the heading, “Does Christmas have pagan roots?”:

In ancient Rome, December 25 was a celebration of the Unconquered Sun, marking the return of longer days. It followed Saturnalia, a festival where people feasted and exchanged gifts. The church in Rome began celebrating Christmas on December 25 in the 4th century during the reign of Constantine, the first Christian emperor… (“Christmas,” Britannica.com, April 18, 2023).

December 25? Feasting? Exchanging gifts? That’s describing pagan holidays observed under the Roman Empire. And this date was only adopted by the mainstream Christian church in the 4th century. But why? Why was December 25 chosen as a date to celebrate Christmas?

Note this CBS News article from 2018 for the answer:

Though December 25 is the day Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the date itself and several of the customs we’ve come to associate with Christmas actually evolved from pagan traditions celebrating the winter solstice. “Christmas is really about bringing out your inner pagan,” historian Kenneth C. Davis told “CBS This Morning.” According to Davis, Christmas was celebrated as early as the fourth century, suggesting that it had almost nothing to do with Jesus Christ (“The unexpected origins of popular Christmas traditions,” CBSNews.com, December 25, 2018).

Christmas is about “bringing out your inner pagan” and Christmas has “almost nothing to do with Jesus Christ”? These are remarkable quotes. Again, this probably doesn’t surprise you. Especially if you are a regular viewer of Tomorrow’s World. You’ve probably seen articles and videos explaining the pagan origins of the Christmas traditions before. And not just from our material at Tomorrow’s World—it’s out there in the world at large. Such as this article from the CBS News website. It’s not a secret.

But that raises another question: What do we do with this information? Should it matter at all?

You see, most people who know the origins of Christmas have somehow rationalized to themselves why they should still keep it. Perhaps they think, “Well, it’s not really a religious observance, it’s just a fun, relaxed time to be with friends and family—it’s a social event.” That’s what a lot of people think. A 2013 survey of American millennials—that is, those born from 1981 to 1996—revealed that although 9 in 10 of them observe Christmas, only 4 in 10 do so for religious reasons (“Many Millennials see Christmas as more cultural than religious holiday,” PewResearch.org, December 18, 2015).

So, more and more people are coming to see Christmas as just a social and secular observance. On the other hand, for those who are religious, many of them also know the origins are pagan. But some of them convince themselves that it’s not a problem, arguing, “Well, as long as I do it for Christ, it’s ok.”

But is it ok? Should we stop and think if this line of reasoning even makes sense?

As one source says,

Christmas makes no sense… the basic facts of the annual ritual just seem to defy logic and meaning. What do brightly lit trees and mistletoe have to do with the birth of a prophet in Bethlehem thousands of years ago? What does a jolly, portly man in red and white garb have to do with Christianity? What’s the meaning behind the Yule log? … Many people have a general inkling about the way old pagan traditions and celebrations fed into Christmas as we know it today… (“The Pagan Roots of Christmas,” History.co.uk).

What Is God’s View of Christmas?

Many people really do know the roots of Christmas are pagan. But they keep it anyway. What should YOU do about Christmas? To help you answer that, let’s consider our first fundamental question:

  1. Does God condone lies?

Everyone knows that Santa Claus does not really come down our chimneys on Christmas Eve. Or, at least everyone knows except our children. Thalia Goldstein is the assistant professor of applied developmental psychology at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Ms. Goldstein notes that about 85% of American 5-year old kids believe Santa is real:

Children’s belief in Santa starts when they’re between 3 and 4 years old. It’s very strong when they’re between about 4 and 8. Then, at 8 years old is when we start to see the drop-off in belief, when children start to understand the reality of Santa Claus (How many kids still believe in Santa?”, CNN Health, CNN.com, December 19, 2017).

So, a high percentage of kids in the United States are still taught to believe, at a young age, in something that is not true. What about children outside of the United States? According to a research paper presented in 1999 in Finland, at the European Early Childhood Education Research Association:

Of 161 parents in the United Kingdom, 92.5% thought Father Christmas was real for their children up to the age of 8….

But it’s not just the Santa myth. In addition, there is no proof that December 25 was the date of the birth of Christ. In fact, Luke 2:8 records that the shepherds were out in the fields at his birth, and that would never have happened in the rainy, cold winter months. And what about the three kings from the east, visiting the baby Jesus in the manger? That didn’t happen, at least not in the way the Christmas story tells it. The book of Matthew says they were wise men, not kings. And it doesn’t mention how many there were. And it says “when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother.” That’s in Matthew 2:11.

The Christmas traditions are riddled with errors, misspeaks, and outright lies. The context shows He was upwards to two years old here, and in a house, not a manger. Now, with an open mind ask yourself, would God really be behind such a convoluted tradition? Notice what Titus 1:2 says:

In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began (Titus 1:2).

God cannot lie. God will not lie. God never lies. And yet, we are made to believe He condones millions of parents telling their children outright lies and convoluted myths, supposedly about His Son?

Think about it. One of the Ten Commandments specifically forbids being a false witness. You can find that in Exodus 20:16,

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor (Exodus 20:16).

The specific topic here in Exodus 20:16 is bearing false witness against your neighbor. But certainly the principle is that we must tell the truth in all circumstances.

It’s sobering that the Apostle John records the following, in Revelation 21:7,

But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelation 21:7–8).

So, who is standing up and warning our parents, to stop the lies of Christmas? Almost no one.

Instead, we have experts like Jacqueline Woolley, professor and  department of psychology Chair at the University of Texas at Austin. Here is what she says:

Some parents wonder whether they are harming their children by engaging in the Santa myth. Philosophers and bloggers alike have mounted arguments against perpetuating the “Santa-lie,” some even claiming that it could lead to permanent distrust of parents and other authorities. So, what should parents do? (“Why children believe (or not) that Santa Claus exists,” The Conversation, TheConversation.com, December 18, 2016).

Yes, what SHOULD parents do? If they know Christmas comes from error, and falsehood, and even outright lies, maybe parents should tell their children the TRUTH, instead of perpetuating the lie. But that’s not Ms. Woolley’s conclusion. Notice her next statement:

There is no evidence that belief, and eventual disbelief in Santa, affects parental trust in any significant way.

Stop and think about this for a moment. Have you ever had someone lie to you? How did it feel? When you found out, did it affect your ability to trust them? Even if it was for a so-called good reason, did it make you stop and think the next time they told you something—are they telling me the truth, or is this another lie?

If it affects us that way as adults, why wouldn’t we think it would affect our children? One more statement from Ms. Woolley:

Furthermore, not only do children have the tools to ferret out the truth; but engaging with the Santa story may give them a chance to exercise these abilities. So, if you think it would be fun for you and your family to invite Santa Claus into your home at Christmas time, you should do so. Your children will be fine. And they might even learn something.

What an amazing statement. Perpetuating the Santa and Christmas lie will actually be good for your children, at least according to her.

I hope you are seeing that what’s good for your children is teaching them truth and to be truthful. And what is the foundation of truth? God’s word is truth. That’s from John 17:17.

God cannot lie—we already saw that in Titus 1:2. But there is a being, a powerful evil spirit who not only lies but is described as the father of lies. We find that in John 8:44. Jesus was being confronted by the Pharisees. They were hypocritical, selfish and seeking to destroy Him. And notice what He told them:

“You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Satan the devil is the father of lies. We don’t want any part of him. So we shouldn’t want any part of a tradition that is based on lies, no matter how we sugar coat it.

We can either be for the truth, or for the lie. We can be seeking to live the way of truth—the way that God reveals in His word, seeking to follow His Spirit and be conformed to His righteousness and the righteousness of His Son. Or, we can fall into living the way of the lie—following error, falsehood, lies, often masquerading as good traditions and holidays. And we can pass on those errors to our children.

So, we might know that the origins of Christmas are not Christian at all. What should we do about it? Well, let’s let the Bible speak for itself. You won’t ever find a word of the Bible where God tells you to do something deceitful or dishonest or promoting error. And that should give us guidance on how we judge what to do about Christmas.

The Deception of “Christianizing” Paganism

Let’s move on to our second fundamental question:

  1. Does God ever say “keep any day” as long as you honor Christ?

This is a reason some use to explain their holding on to Christmas in spite of its error. Well, they reason, as long as we honor Christ in it, it’s ok. But is it ok? We find some powerful principles in the Bible that give us the guidance we need. One is found in the history of Israel.

The ancient nation of Israel was led by God out of enslavement from Egypt about 3,400 years ago. But before they went into what was called the Promised Land, God gave them a serious warning. He said don’t mix worship of Me with the worship of the nations around you. We’ll pick it up in Deuteronomy 12:30,

Take heed… that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise. You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way… (Deuteronomy 12:30–31).

Notice, the principle is not just “don’t worship idols,” it’s “don’t worship the true God with idolatrous practices.” Can you see the difference?

But in the history of the Christian church, that is what exactly happened. Worship of Christ was mixed with traditions of the pagans. In the book The Battle for Christmas, author Stephen Nissenbaum writes this:

It was only in the fourth century that the Church officially decided to observe Christmas on December 25. And this date was chosen not for religious reasons but simply because it happened to mark the approximate arrival of the winter solstice, an event that was celebrated long before the advent of Christianity…. The Puritans were correct when they point out—and they point it out often—that Christmas was nothing but a pagan festival covered with a Christian veneer (The Battle for Christmas, 1996, p. 4).

He then refers to the Puritan minister Increase Mather, from the early days of colonial America:

[Increase Mather] accurately observed in 1687 that the early Christians who first observed the Nativity on December 25 did not do so “thinking that Christ was born in that Month, but because the Heathens Saturnalia was at that time kept in Rome, and they were willing to have those Pagan Holidays metamorphosed into Christian [ones] (The Battle for Christmas).

So, Christmas was not put on December 25 to reflect the birth of Christ. It was put there to absorb the worshippers of Saturnalia and easily bring them into the church. Precisely the opposite of God’s instructions back in Deuteronomy.

How did the expanding, visible church deal with the traditions of the pagans around them? Well, it accommodated them. Notice this statement from the book, The Pageantry of Christmas:

… Most of the Christian missionaries who moved into Central and Western Europe as the Roman Empire crumbled, followed the advice of [Pope] Gregory the Great. He wrote, in 597, that they should not try to put down pagan customs “upon the sudden,” but adapt them “to the praise of God” (The Pageantry of Christmas, 1963, p. 10).

Adapt the pagan customs? But that is exactly what happened, and that’s why we have the strange mix of pagan rituals, with the mention of Christ, in Christmas today. But is that what God wanted? No. Notice God’s instruction in Jeremiah 10:1,

Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the LORD; “Do not learn the way of the Gentiles… For the customs of the peoples are futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers so that it will not topple. They are upright, like a palm tree…” (Jeremiah 10:1–5).

Remarkable parallels with the customs of Christmas that jump right off the page. God told ancient Israel through Jeremiah, don’t learn how to worship Me by watching how the nations around you do it. But in the Christian era, that’s exactly what some did. They transformed the worship of Christ into a mix of the true God with the worship of Saturn, Mithra, and others.

God’s standard is truth, as defined by the Bible. Not traditions. Not customs. Notice John 4:23,

… The hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him (John 4:23).

When we show honor to God, we have to do it His way. We have to honor Him on the days He wants us to honor Him.

Reject Christmas and Follow Christ’s True Teachings

So, what should we do about Christmas? Simple. God offers something better. We don’t have to settle for a festival steeped in pagan traditions. We can be different. God outlines His days—His biblical holy days—which teach us about Him and His plan of salvation. You might have heard of them. Passover. Pentecost. The Feast of Tabernacles. The Day of Atonement. These are just a few.

The Apostle Paul took the Gospel message primarily to a Gentile world. Meaning, the brethren he worked with and wrote to were coming out of pagan practices. He worked in the Roman world of the 1st century. And the people in that world were keeping the Saturnalia. Many of them were worshiping Mithra, and other false gods. And they had to come out of it, to become part of the body of Christ, the Church of God.

But he had to encourage them, to not fall back into their former practices. He had to tell them, don’t get discouraged if people don’t understand what you’re doing. Even if that means friends, neighbors or family. Notice what he said in the book of Colossians to the church at Colosse. Colossians 2:16, and I’m reading from the King James Version:

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ (Colossians 2:16–17).

The word “is” is in italics. It’s not in the original text. It should read, “but the body of Christ.” The church is the body. We ARE to let the church teach us, to guide us, and show us how to keep the holy days as outlined in the Bible. And we should not be discouraged if the world judges us for not keeping worldly days.

So, don’t let the world judge you, if you walk away from Christmas. If you make the determination, “I’m done following the traditions of man, and I want to learn the ways of God.” Don’t be discouraged. Your friends and even relatives may not like it. But God is looking for those who are willing to follow Him, come what may.

Christmas does not lead us to truth. It only obscures the truth. It’s not enough to know the origins of Christmas. We have to act on what we know. And that means, follow the truth.

That’s what we should do about Christmas.

The Mark of the Beast: A Clever Counterfeit

Examine Bible prophecy (Revelation 13:16-17, Daniel 2 and 7)—as Gerald Weston gives scriptural clues to help identify the beast of Revelation, its mark, and its link to a final Roman Empire revival.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

The Mysterious Mark of Revelation…Solved?

The biblical book of Revelation tells us that there is a time coming when everyone will be compelled to receive a mark on his forehead or on his hand. Without that mark, you will not be able to buy or sell. But God’s wrath will be poured out on those who accept it. What is that mark? Do you know?

Many people look in all the wrong places to understand this mysterious Mark of the Beast. Speculations abound. The U.S. Social Security Number was once thought to be that mark. As was the Canadian Social Insurance Number with its acronym S.I.N. The bar code and the quick response code have also been contenders. Others expect tattoos of the number 666, or a computer chip to be placed on the hand or the forehead. And how can we forget the COVID-19 vaccine? But, none of these are the Beast’s mark.

On today’s Tomorrow’s World program, I’ll discuss from the pages of the Bible what that mysterious mark is.

I’ll be right back in five seconds to show you what the Bible reveals about the mysterious Mark of the Beast.

Daniel’s Prophecies Reveal the Beast

A warm welcome to all of you from all of us here at Tomorrow’s World, where today I’m sharing with you what the Bible says about the mysterious mark of the Beast. The subject of a mark that controls whether one can buy or sell arises from the biblical book of Revelation, so we must look to that source to discover what that mark is. Here is the passage in question:

He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name (Revelation 13:16–17).

Now before we go running off into the sunset looking for this mark, let’s stop and consider the obvious and most fundamental point in understanding this mark.

The Mark is of the Beast.

Yes, it’s the Beast’s mark! Any mark from any other source, cannot be his mark. While it is popular to focus on bar codes, Social Insurance Numbers, tattoos and computer chips, we must first focus on identifying this Beast if we are to understand his mark.

So, who or what is this Beast? We begin our study in the biblical book of Daniel. There we read how King Nebuchadnezzar had an unusual dream, and how God revealed its meaning to the prophet Daniel. We’ll begin in Daniel 2:31:

You, O king, were watching; and behold, a great image! This great image, whose splendor was excellent, stood before you; and its form was awesome. This image’s head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay (Daniel 2:31–33).

You might be thinking right now, how can a king’s dream 2,500 years ago have anything to do with me? Isn’t this just a child’s bedtime story? This thought could not be more wrong.

Daniel explained to the king that this figure of a man represented four kingdoms. The head of gold was his Chaldean Empire. History shows that the three that followed were the Medo/Persian, the Greco/Macedonian, and the Roman Empires. Notice that this prophecy covers the time from Nebuchadnezzar all the way down to the second coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and the setting up of His Kingdom.

And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold—the great God has made known to the king what will come to pass after this (Daniel 2:44–45).

Understanding the Beast of Revelation and Its Fate

Let’s now go to Daniel 7, where it elaborates further on these four worldly empires. This time, rather than an image of a man made of different materials, we find these same empires described as four wild beasts. The first was like a lion with eagle’s wings, the second like a bear, the third was a four headed leopard, and the fourth was… as we see in Daniel 7:7:

… dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns (Daniel 7:7).

Verses 17 and 23 clearly show that the words king and kingdom are used interchangeably, and as in chapter 2, this fourth kingdom ends at the return of Christ when He sets up His kingdom. Notice it in vv. 26–27:

But the court shall be seated, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and destroy it forever. Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him (vv. 26–27).

We need not speculate about the meaning as the Bible interprets its own symbols. Nebuchadnezzar’s image is explained as four kingdoms, beginning with Nebuchadnezzar’s and ending with God setting up a kingdom on earth. We are told that the four beasts of Daniel 7 represent four kings or kingdoms, and the fourth ends with God’s Kingdom. So, these beasts clearly represent the same four kingdoms as those mentioned in Daniel 2.

The Stone cut out of the mountain without hands is clearly a reference to the future, when the returning Jesus Christ sets up an everlasting kingdom. At that time, He destroys mankind’s empires by smiting the king’s great image on the feet and toes. Therefore, the feet and toes of iron and clay must be in existence at Christ’s return. Notice Daniel’s God-inspired explanation of the feet and toes, in Daniel 2, beginning in verse 41:

Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay. And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly fragile. As you saw iron mixed with ceramic clay, they will mingle with the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay (Daniel 2:41–43).

That’s the state of the Roman kingdom at the end of the age. As we shall see, there will be ten nations that do not adhere to one another, but they do so for a very short time out of necessity, and they have the strength of iron. But how can this be when Rome, the fourth kingdom, fell more than 1,500 years ago?

For the answer, we must turn to the book of Revelation, in the thirteenth chapter. Here we find another creature, but this time a single beast with the characteristics of those found in Daniel 7. Those characteristics are all combined into a single creature. Why? This is because John recorded this vision in the late 90s A.D.—at the time of the Roman Empire, which had absorbed the other three kingdoms. Notice this description:

Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority (Revelation 13:1–2).

But again, Rome fell more than 1,500 years ago. How can it then be in existence when Christ returns? Note that this Beast has seven heads. Compare this with Daniel 7, where the four creatures also had a combined seven heads. Revelation 13:3 and 5 explain that one of the heads had a deadly wound that was healed. Since the only empire in existence at this time was Rome, the head with a deadly wound that is healed is that of Rome. A deadly wound and healing of the Roman empire is exactly what we find in history.

Rome fell in 476 A.D., but the empire was restored (or healed) by Justinian in 554 A.D. We now turn to Revelation 17, where the “healed” Roman Empire continues. There we find another seven-headed beast, but this Beast is different. It only refers to Rome after the healing, and it has one very significant difference. It is Rome ridden by an immoral woman. Beginning in verse 1:

Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns (Revelation 17:1–3).

The Mark of the Beast—A False Holy Day for a Counterfeit Christianity

In the Bible, a woman is sometimes used as a symbol of a church. Concerning the marriage of a man and woman, we read in Ephesians 5:32,

This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

In Revelation 19:6–9, it describes the saved as the “bride of Christ.” But in the case of Revelation 17, we see a fallen woman, an apostate church, a “mother church” with her harlot daughters.

Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters. … And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH (Revelation 17:1, 5).

This Roman Empire, whose deadly wound was healed in 554 A.D., has seven heads and is ridden by an apostate religious system. Furthermore, we learn that, after the healing, it would continue 1,260 years:

And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. … and he [that is, this Roman Beast] was given authority to continue for forty-two months (Revelation 13:3, 5).

A prophetic month is made up of 30 days. Thirty days times 42 months comes to 1,260. Now, the Bible sometimes uses what is called a day for a year principle. In this case, the beast would continue after its healing for a period of either 1,260 days or 1,260 years. The context and history shows us it is the latter—1260 years.

History reveals that the Roman Empire, now ridden by an apostate church, was restored by Justinian in 554 A.D. The empire diminished and was revived four more times. The second restoration came in 800 A.D. when:

On Christmas Day, as Charlemagne… knelt before St. Peter’s altar in prayer, [Pope] Leo suddenly produced a jeweled crown, and set it upon the King’s head (Will Durant, The Story of Civilization: Charlemagne the King, pp. 468–469).

After Charlemagne, the Empire again deteriorated, but was revived a third time under Otto I.

Like Charlemagne, Otto received his throne through the Papal claim that the Roman Church had been the only Imperial elector since the early fourth century…. The Holy Roman Empire was thus to a large extent German in its ethnic and political base, [apostate] Christian in its moral justification, and Roman in its claim to legitimacy and universality (The Holy Roman Empire in the Middle Ages, ed. Herzstein, 1966, p. viii).

Charles V and Napoleon constituted the fourth and fifth restorations. From the healing under Justinian in 554 to the fall of Napoleon in 1814, we have [get this] exactly 1,260 years as foretold in Revelation 13 and verses 3 and 5. Revelation 17 tells us that there would be two more revivals after the five during the 1,260 years.

Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits [Rome is built on seven hills]. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen [that was between 554 and 1814], one is [that’s Hitler and Mussolini], and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time (Revelations 17:9–10).

The one to come will be made up of ten kings or nations with the strength of iron and the fragility of clay. This will take place in the near future and when it does, remember where you heard this!

God is not happy with those who take the Beast’s mark. It’s a sign of disobedience. It cannot simply be a computer chip or barcode. It’s the Beast’s mark and the beast fights against Christ at His return.

The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. … These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings (Revelation 17:12, 14).

It may surprise you to know that the Bible speaks of another mark. Few people realize that God gave a sign that identifies His people. Read it for yourself in Exodus 31:13.

Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: “Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you [sets you apart]” (Exodus 31:13).

Some wrongly reason that Jesus changed the Sabbath to the first day of the week, but the Bible and early church history show that Jesus, His apostles, and the first century church of God continued to observe the day God sanctified at creation, long before Moses. As we read in Genesis 2:3,

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made (Genesis 2:3).

And Jesus declared to those who were misapplying the Sabbath that:

The Sabbath was [not done away with, but it was] made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:27–28).

Now think about this: You are not Lord of something that does not exist!

The Devil is a great counterfeiter. Speaking of false ministers, Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 11,

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness… (2 Corinthians 11:13–15).

The True Sabbath Day Identifies God’s People

We’ve seen that God has a sign that identifies His people—the seventh day Sabbath. But Satan also has a sign, a mark, that identifies those who are his. Daniel 7 speaks of a stout horn, which can be connected to the woman who rides the beast of Revelation 17. Here’s what Daniel 7:25 reveals about this horn:

He shall speak pompous words against the Most High … and shall intend to change times and law (Daniel 7:25).

Notice that it says, “intend to change times and law.” It was not Jesus, or the Apostle Paul, who changed the day of rest set aside by God at creation. It was Roman Emperor Constantine who changed the Sabbath to Sunday. From Eerdman’s handbook to the history of Christianity,

The Christian Sunday was not made a “day of rest” until Constantine decreed it in AD 321 (Introduction to the History of Christianity, ed. Dowley, p. 123).

Constantine was a sun worshiper:

When in 321 Constantine made the first day of the week a holiday, he called it “the venerable day of the Sun” (Sunday) (p. 140).

But what about the mark being placed on the hand and in the forehead?

Doesn’t this suggest some kind of visible mark or computer chip? We must not read into the Bible our own ideas. We must let the Bible explain its own symbols. A sign in the hand and forehead does not suddenly appear in Revelation. Far from it. This symbolism is used as an identifying sign of obedience to God. Referring to an annual festival given by God and later kept by Jesus and the early church, we read in Exodus 13:9…

… [To] be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the LORD’s law may be in your mouth…” (Exodus 13:9).

And after repeating the Ten Commandments in Deuteronomy 5, we read in chapter 6:

You shall bind them [that is, God’s Commandments, note this] as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes (Deuteronomy 6:8).

Just as God places His sign on our hand and forehead, so the great counterfeiter’s Beast has his mark.

Will You Escape Armageddon?

The battle of Armageddon is an event in Bible prophecy worthy of praying “that you may be counted worthy to escape” (Luke 21:36). In this video, learn how you can avoid it—and the signs of the end times leading up to it.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Armageddon IS Coming

Our planet and all our nations are faced with natural disasters, famine, earthquakes, wars, and total destruction. We even see the word “Armageddon” appearing in news headlines. Will we soon experience World War III? Will the world soon experience Armageddon?

The 1998 popular movie “Armageddon” portrayed an incoming asteroid the size of Texas that would destroy all life on earth. NASA recruits a team of oil drillers to save the world. Perhaps you’ve seen that sobering movie.

Are we today in danger of incoming earth-destroying asteroids?

Astronomy.com describes the meteor that exploded over Siberia in 2013:

On February 15, 2013, a small asteroid, perhaps measuring 20 meters across, came down over the southern Urals of Russia, barreling in at about 19 km/s, and exploded over Chelyabinsk Oblast, near the town of Chelyabinsk. With a mass greater than that of the Eiffel Tower, the asteroid exploded in an airburst, unleashing energy equal to about 500 kilotons of TNT, some 20 or 30 times the energy released in the Hiroshima atomic explosion (“Why the asteroid threat should be taken seriously,” Astronomy.com).

Continuing the report, author David J. Eicher describes the dangers we face today:

The risk from asteroids impacting Earth and causing widespread damage, death, and catastrophe is real, and is present every day of our lives. But it is to a degree a counterintuitive threat, which makes it hard for some people to take seriously. The risk at any given moment is almost nonexistent, but given enough time, a catastrophic event will happen again. Do we need to worry about an asteroid strike during our next foray out to lunch? Probably not. But someday a large enough asteroid with Earth’s name on it will enter the picture, causing horror and mayhem for humanity. Unless we do something about it, that is (ibid.).

Your Bible reveals future astronomical events as well as major military conflicts. Revelation the sixth chapter describes cosmic disturbances: “And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place” (Revelation 6:13–14).

The movie “Armageddon” used the title to depict the cataclysmic end-of-the world danger described in your Bible. Bible scholars describe Armageddon as the final battle between good and evil. Who will win that battle? Will the world survive Armageddon? And will you be able to escape “Armageddon”?

Stay tuned!

Where Will Armageddon Take Place?

Warm greetings to all our friends around the world!

The word “Armageddon” has come to symbolize the final battle between good and evil. Will Armageddon trigger ultimate destruction of planet Earth? Or will divine intervention from outer space save us all? We’ll answer that question on today’s program.

Armageddon warns us of a World War III. World War II ended in 1945, more than 75 years ago. Younger generations today may know little of its history, the suffering, global trauma and the loss of scores of millions of lives. To many at the time, the devastating conflict between nations appeared as if the end of the world was near. But the Allied nations prevailed against Nazi Germany and fascist Italy, and VE day, Victory in Europe Day, was proclaimed on May 8, 1945. The war in the Pacific continued with Japan’s military forces striving to control more and more territory. U.S. President Harry Truman approved the dramatic strategy to shorten the war with the newly invented weapon of mass destruction.

On August 6 and August 9 of 1945, the United States dropped the first ever atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan killing more than 150,000 (“Hiroshima and Nagasaki Death Toll,” Children of the Atomic Bomb, aasc.ucla.edu, October 10, 2007). The nation of Japan surrendered unconditionally on September 2, 1945, ending World War II. In his victory broadcast from the USS Missouri battleship, General Douglas MacArthur summarized the historic lesson of war. Gen. MacArthur repeated these words in his farewell address to Congress on April 19, 1951: “Military alliances, balances of power, leagues of nations, all in turn failed, leaving the only path to be by way of the crucible of war. The utter destructiveness of war now blocks out this alternative. We have had our last chance. If we will not devise some greater and more equitable system, Armageddon will be at our door.”

Yes, our Armageddon WILL be at our door. Or as General MacArthur pronounced it: “Har Maggadon will be at our door.” Turn to Revelation 16:16, “And they gathered them together to the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon.” The original Hebrew is Har Magadon, or the Mount of Megiddo. The armies of the world will gather in northern Israel at Megiddo before marching south to Jerusalem. Megiddo is located about 55 miles north of Jerusalem in Israel. In ancient times it guarded the main trade routes between Egypt and Damascus. It also overlooks the biggest plain in Israel, the Valley of Jezreel (as it’s called in the Bible) or the Plain of Esdraelon. The kings of the east cross westward across the Euphrates River. They meet up with other superpower armies at Megiddo.

The book of Revelation describes this gathering as the sixth of the seven last plagues. They gather at the place called in Hebrew, Armageddon, then move southward to Jerusalem to fight Christ there. Notice Joel 3:1, “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather ALL nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there” (Joel 3:1–2).

The Valley of Jehoshaphat is between the Mount of Olives and the city of Jerusalem. It’s also known as the Kidron Valley, which extends southward for some distance. Yes, the Battle of the Great Day of God Almighty will take place at Jerusalem. Jehoshaphat means “judgment of the Eternal.” God will judge the nations in this climactic battle.

Your Bible reveals the sequence of events leading up to Armageddon. The Savior, Jesus Christ, revealed major prophetic signs leading up to the great climax and the end of this age. He also proclaimed a new age to come; we call it Tomorrow’s World. Jesus preached the gospel, the good news of a coming world-ruling government called the Kingdom of God. You can read about that in Mark 1:14–15! Jesus answered His disciples’ question concerning the end of the world or the end of the age. Matthew 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

What signs should we watch for? And what sequence of prophetic events should we expect? Our revealing free booklet we’re offering today features a chart showing the sequence of major prophetic events: Bible prophecy reveals the three and one-half year period leading up to the end of the age. And what signals the END of this sad world of failed human governments? Turn in your Bible to Revelation 11:15, “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!’”

The Real “War to End All Wars”

We saw that the world’s armies will gather at Megiddo, in northern Israel, ready to oppose the returning Jesus Christ. Will that battle affect you? Nations will at first reject the returned Savior. Revelation 11:18: “The nations were angry….” They will resist the divine world-ruling kingdom and even go to war against it! The end-time superpower, the last revival of the Roman Empire, called the “Beast” in the book of Revelation, supported by ten worldly kings or kingdoms, will fight a futile war against the coming King of kings. Revelation 17:12, “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful” (Revelation 17:12–14).

The book of Revelation reveals a sequence of major battles of World War III. Just read Revelation the ninth chapter. Armies east of the Euphrates River move westward using powerful weapons to destroy one third of earth’s population. The Apostle John records this prophetic vision in Revelation 9:17–18, “And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed—by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths.”

Are military forces even now preparing for World War III? Our Tomorrow’s World magazine subscribers are aware of major military developments. The April–May 2023 edition featured this question: “Has World War III Already Begun?” Editor in chief Gerald Weston cites several individuals, including Pope Francis, who state that World War III has already begun: “‘The world is at war,’ he said. ‘For me, today, World War III has been declared. This is something that should give us pause for thought. What is happening to humanity that we have had three world wars in a century?’” (“Pope Francis: ‘World War III has been declared,’” America: The Jesuit Review, June 14, 2022) (Tomorrow’s World magazine, p. 6).

Today’s nations are increasing their nuclear capabilities. Nine nations around the world are confirmed to have nuclear weapons. The combined power from these weapons could destroy all human life on earth several times over. On page 5 of the Armageddon booklet, this chart shows the estimated number of nuclear warheads each possesses. They are Russia, the United States, France, China, the United Kingdom, Israel, India, Pakistan, and North Korea.

October, 2022 marked the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis. That was a time when the whole world was facing a potential Armageddon. On that anniversary, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists made this sobering announcement: “Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its nuclear saber-rattling have roused the nuclear war genie, with the word ‘Armageddon’ creeping into general discussion during the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Missile Crisis. That 35-day crisis (Oct. 16-Nov. 20, 1962) remains a definitive moment in United States national security history and was the general public’s first up-close-and-personal introduction to the real possibility of nuclear war” (“Déjà vu and nuclear roulette: The Bulletin’s initial reactions to the Cuban Missile Crisis,” Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, TheBulletin.org, October 26, 2022).

Unsealing the Dramatic Events of Revelation

My friends, many of you experienced the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. You faced the frightening reality of what seemed to be a real Armageddon. Evangelist Gerald Weston described those dangers in a Tomorrow’s World magazine article titled “Cold War Secrets, Broken Arrows, and the Fate of Humanity.”

The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 nearly brought the world to the unthinkable: a nuclear exchange between the United States and the Soviet Union—in popular parlance, ‘Armageddon.’ Although it was understood to be a close call during those 13 tense days in October, few would learn just how close it was until decades later—and most people still do not know (March–April 2020, p. 5).

The magazine cover featured this sobering summary: “Cold War Secrets Revealed! How one man’s decision prevented global Armageddon.”

My friends, we need to face reality! Billions of human beings on earth will die—as war, hunger, and disease expand over the planet. Yes, we will face the extreme danger of human annihilation.

The fourth seal of Revelation pictures the four horsemen combining their powers. The world will suffer massive deaths of men, women, and children. Turn to Revelation the sixth chapter. The Apostle John, who wrote the book of Revelation under God’s inspiration, sees in vision the famous four horsemen of the Apocalypse. They symbolize, in order, false christs and false religion, war and its devastating effects, famines that normally follow on the heels of war, and pestilence and disease that follow after famine. The Apostle John writes in Revelation 6:8, “So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a FOURTH of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.”

The fifth seal, as we read in Revelation 6:9, reveals a martyrdom of Christians during the tribulation period of about two and one-half years. Then we read about the SIXTH SEAL, which introduces the time of God’s wrath and judgment on the nations. The Sixth SEAL is referred to as the heavenly signs. Revelation 6:12, “I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place” (Revelation 6:12–14).

These heavenly signs, as they are called, introduce the Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord is the time of God’s wrath and judgment on an unthankful, rebellious world. Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, will be WRATHFUL. He’ll execute God’s righteous judgments. The Day of the Lord, here in Revelation 6:17, is called “the great Day of His wrath!”

The Day of the Lord will bring God’s judgments on the nations. Let’s understand. There are three prophetic milestones leading up to Christ’s return. They are: 1. The Great Tribulation; 2. The Heavenly Signs; and 3. The Day of the Lord. These three events cover a period of about three and one-half years. There are over thirty prophecies in your Bible referring to the Day of the Lord. Isaiah 34:8 and Isaiah 63:4 show that the Day of the Lord in end-time prophecy, the time preceding the Second Coming, is a period of one year! You might want to write down those references: Isaiah 34:8 and Isaiah 63:4!

Revelation the nineteenth chapter describes Christ’s great heavenly army descending to the earthly Armageddon battleground. Revelation 19:11,

Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (Revelation 19:11–16).

My friends, what side will you choose when judgment day comes? Will you choose to be on the side of the King who will rule the earth and bring it lasting peace? As we just saw in Revelation 17, faithful Christians will follow Christ. Revelation 17:14, “and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

Will You Be Among the Saints At Christ’s Side?

We all need to watch for prophetic signs leading to Armageddon. The kings of the earth and their armies will gather in northern Israel to fight against the Savior, Jesus Christ, at His coming. Again be sure to read that in Revelation 19:19. The King of kings will conquer these rebellious, oppressive nations. But how can you personally prepare for the challenging times ahead? My friends, will you escape Armageddon?

Notice the admonition by the Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 21:36, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Perhaps you have not been praying. Now is the time to get down on your knees and cry out to God for a change in your life. Isaiah 55:6–7 tells you how to draw close to God. “Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”

God promises to bless you and forgive you, IF you seek Him with your whole heart. The solution to the world’s problems lies in the future change in human nature. Beyond Armageddon, the new world government, comprised of Christ and the saints, will teach the way to peace. Yes, during the millennium, there will be a renewal of human character and the human spirit. The Kingdom of God will rule over all nations for a thousand years. Pray for that Kingdom to come. We look forward to the time beyond Armageddon when the prophecy of Zechariah 14:9 will be fulfilled: “And the LORD shall be King over all the earth.”

Yes, the Prince of Peace will govern the world’s nations with love and justice, guaranteeing a world of prosperity and abundant living for all peoples.
