Will Spirit Beings Rule the World?

Who will rule in the kingdom of God? The Bible contains the intriguing answer to this question and more. Watch to learn the truth!

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Who Can Save Us from Ourselves?

Human beings have failed to establish lasting world peace. The 20th century experienced two world wars. The Second World War climaxed with two atomic bombs killing more than an estimated 200,000 people in Japan in 1945. Since then, nine nations have produced even more powerful weapons of mass destruction.

How can human beings prevent total cosmocide, the death of every living thing on the face of the earth? At the end of World War I, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proposed a league of nations that would work together for world peace. After World War II, in 1945, the United Nations was formed for the same purpose. And yet, the 193 member-states of the U.N. have not established the way to lasting world peace. Many millions have followed History Channel programs on ancient aliens and modern UFOs. But did you know that the Creator of heaven and earth originally assigned a great spirit being, an Archangel, and his millions of angelic followers to govern planet earth? The same spirit being was even called “the ruler of this world” by Jesus Christ Himself!

Since human beings have failed to establish lasting world peace, could more powerful beings than humans bring us peace? Your Bible reveals the good news of a coming world ruling government, a government consisting of powerful, loving spirit beings who will rule the world. Unbelievable? Your Bible guarantees it!

My friends, your Bible reveals the world ahead. You can read about this coming world-ruling government in our inspiring free resource we’re offering today, The World Ahead: What Will It Be Like? Be sure to write down the contact information to order your free copy.

Will powerful spirit beings rule the world? Or will mankind by itself finally succeed in establishing world peace?

Stay tuned!

Will It Be Extraterrestrials?

Warm greetings to all our friends around the world!

Most human beings are yearning for lasting world peace. And yet, the history of the world testifies to our failure to produce lasting peace among all nations. Who can save us? Some researchers and television viewers have been intrigued by government UFO investigations or unidentified flying objects. Others claim aliens from outer space have historically established colonies on planet earth and that they are even now infiltrating planet earth.

My friends, will human civilization survive? Or will beings from outer space take over the earth? Your Bible reveals an awesome future that answers these questions. On today’s program, we’ll examine the amazing future revealed in your Bible that guarantees a world of peace, ruled by spirit beings, called the Kingdom of God.

Are alien beings visiting the earth? Are there aliens who want to help us? On July 8, 1947, a headline in the Roswell Daily Record announced: “Roswell Army Air Field Captures Flying Saucer on Ranch in Roswell Region.” A few days later, authorities retracted the report and said the “saucer” was just a crashed weather balloon. But the public imagination had been stirred, and has remained ever since. New York Times op-ed writer Luke Sharrett made this observation about the Roswell phenomenon: “In Roswell, some of humanity’s foundational yearnings hide in plain sight. Look no farther than the tourist-trap T-shirt rack: ‘The truth is out there.’ ‘I want to believe.’ ‘Aliens please abduct me.’ Absolute truth exists. Our souls long for something to believe in. Things here on earth are not as they should be. The T-shirts know. We are desperate to find meaning in our lives. We search for answers to the tough questions. Who are we? Why are we here? Who will heal our messed-up world?” (“Roswell’s Mysteries are Life’s Mysteries,” July 8, 2017).

My friends, the answers to these questions will not be answered by aliens from outer space. But there will be loving spirit beings who will answer those questions in the coming glorious kingdom revealed in your Bible. In fact, the Tomorrow’s World television program, magazine, and free study resources have answered these three questions numerous times. Who are we? Why are we here? Who will heal our messed-up world? Let me refer you to our inspiring telecast “What Is the Meaning of Life?” by fellow presenter Mr. Wallace Smith. Just search on our website at TomorrowsWorld.org. Yes, your Bible gives the astounding and amazing answers to these questions.

Let’s take a glimpse of the coming Kingdom of God under the great spirit ruler called in your Bible the King of kings and Lord of lords. Yes, the Messiah, Jesus Christ, will come to earth with His spirit army to bring the world peace. He is called “the prince of peace” in Isaiah 9:6. He is also called the Lamb of God in John 1:29. John the Baptist proclaimed: “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” Revelation 6:16–17 tells us that the Lamb will be filled with wrath when He judges rebellious nations. How will the world accept the new one-world government of the King of kings? Human armies represented by ten national kings will actually fight against Christ at His coming! Revelation 17:12, “The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast. These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”

HUMAN armies will fight a great and powerful spirit army coming from God’s throne in heaven. Hard to believe? Consider these comments by USA Today opinion columnist Glenn Harlan Reynolds: “… the U.S. government is taking the possibility of aliens visiting Earth a lot more seriously than has been the case in the past…. We can hope, of course, that a sufficiently advanced alien civilization might have evolved past violence, though the evidence that our civilization is doing so is not entirely compelling…. Given the number of alien contact movies in the past few decades, it is more likely that angels visiting Earth would be greeted as aliens than that aliens visiting Earth would be greeted as angels (“In 2020, anything’s possible,” July 29, 2020).

But human armies will fail in their attempt to overcome the great spirit army of Jesus Christ. And your Bible affirms that angelic spirit beings will accompany His coming to earth from heaven. Matthew 25:31, “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory….”

We’ll see later that not only will the holy angels accompany Christ at His coming, but the saints of God, genuine Christians, will be resurrected as Spirit-born children of God. They will be Spirit kings and priests, as it tells us in Revelation 5:10, “And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”

My friends, a new world is coming, a new age called in Hebrews 2:5 the world to come. What will that world be like? But what spirit beings NOW control much of the earth’s destructive ways of life? And why must our current world systems be replaced?

Can Mankind Become Like God?

Since HUMAN beings have failed to establish lasting world peace, could more powerful SPIRIT beings from outer space establish and enforce lasting world peace? Our world has experienced many forms of government. The ancient city-state of Babylon, ruled by the tyrant Nimrod, was one of those experiments, described in Genesis chapter 11. Down through time, some of those governments became powerful empires, and others turned to powerful dictatorships that have written a world history of conflict, blood, and wars. Ariel and Will Durant analyzed that record in their book, The Lessons of History: “In the last 3,421 years of recorded history only 268 have seen no war.”

What human history has demonstrated and should be teaching us to this day is that government in the hands of selfish human beings does not produce lasting world peace. But your Bible reveals the awesome solution to the problem of human nature. God is calling sinners to become converted Christians. They are called to overcome human nature and grow in godly spiritual nature. They are called to conform to the loving example of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, as it tells us in Romans 8:29. They grow in the nature of Christ as the Apostle Peter exhorted all Christians in 2 Peter 3:18, “but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Christians overcome carnal human nature as God creates in His begotten children His divine nature. God has given true Christians “… exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (1 Peter 1:4).

Your Bible gives numerous examples of righteous servants of God whose selfish nature was changed to a loving, godly nature. The book of Acts in your Bible records the hostile acts of a Pharisee named Saul who attacked Christians and was even consenting to their deaths (Acts 26:10). Saul was later converted and became a zealous Apostle. He admitted his former destructive character in Galatians 1:14, “For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it.” But God had mercy on him: “And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life” (1 Timothy 1:14–16).

My friends, God will extend mercy on you also, IF you humble yourself before God, repent and are baptized as it tells us in Acts 2:38. Yes, in all the world’s nearly eight billion human beings, God is changing the nature of many thousands, demonstrating the loving power of God in heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. If you have been convicted of your sins from the word of God, the Bible, and you have repented of your sins, you may want to counsel for baptism. We have dedicated ministers in many regions around the world who will answer your questions. Just call the number on the screen or contact the regional office nearest you listed on our website at TomorrowsWorld.org.

Today’s Christians are called to become spirit beings in the coming Kingdom of God. That transformation will take place at the return of Jesus Christ! 1 Corinthians the 15th chapter, also referred to as the resurrection chapter, describes that transformation. 1 Corinthians 15:50, “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep [that is the sleep of death], but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet….”

Regular viewers of Tomorrow’s World know that this refers to the last of seven trumpets described in your Bible in Revelation chapters eight and nine. Revelation 11:15 proclaims the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!’”

It’s at the “last trumpet” or the seventh trumpet that the great resurrection of genuine Christians takes place. Continuing in 1 Corinthians 15:52, “… for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’” I hope, my friends, that you are praying every day for the Kingdom of God to come to this earth as Jesus instructed us in Matthew 6:10.

What will that world-ruling Kingdom be like? How will the world finally enjoy lasting peace and prosperity? Will the earth be ruled by spirit beings?

The Devil and His Fallen Angels Replaced?

My friends, your Bible reveals an amazing history of spirit beings ruling the world. If you have your Bible available, turn to Luke the tenth chapter. Jesus had sent out 70 disciples on a mission. When they came back, they reported the miracles that had taken place through the authority of Jesus’ name. Luke 10:17, “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.’”

As you read through the gospels in your Bible, you will find several instances where Jesus healed those who were demon possessed. Even today, some individuals who delve deeply into the occult become deceived and demon possessed. But these seventy disciples experienced the spiritual power Christ gave to them to overcome evil spirits. Jesus revealed the history of Satan. Luke 10:18, “And He said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.’”

God gave Lucifer and his angels responsibility to rule the earth. But they were not satisfied with their God-given responsibilities and foolishly tried to attack God’s throne. The Apostle Jude states they left their original assignment and their sin brought the ultimate judgment on them. Jude, verse 6, “And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day… .” The King James Version states, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation….”

My friends, you need to pray for God’s Kingdom to come. Jesus Christ and the saints will replace Satan and his demons. As we’ve seen earlier in the program, true Christians will assist the King of kings in ruling planet Earth. True Christians who are faithful will be transformed from mortal to immortal, from human to divine spirit beings at the resurrection when Christ returns as it states in 1 Corinthians 15:50–54. Faithful Christians are now being trained as future kings and priests. Revelation 5:9–10, “And they sang a new song, saying: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.”

What will be their responsibilities? Jesus stated in the parable of the Minas, that faithful servants would be ruling over cities. Luke 19:17, “And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’” Some faithful spirit beings in God’s kingdom will be ruling over nations. Revelation 2:26, “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations….”

My friends, your Bible reveals an awesome future, the coming Kingdom of God to this earth. It reveals the government and rulers that will bring peace to all nations. And as it tells us in Zechariah 14:9, “And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.” You need to learn more about the glorious future of planet earth under the coming Kingdom of God. Our free study guide will give you inspiration, vision, and encourage hope for the future: The World Ahead: What Will It Be Like? Ancient King David was a man after God’s own heart as it tells us in Acts 13:22. King David ruled over the combined kingdoms of Judah and Israel and he will have that responsibility in the coming one world government (Ezekiel 37:24).

Will today’s Christians also inherit the Kingdom?

You Can Become Part of the Heavenly Kingdom!

Today’s world is experiencing dramatic challenges. We all should realize the need for a one-world government to solve the conflicts, wars, disease, poverty, and natural disasters. Your Bible reveals the new world to come, tomorrow’s world, governed by loving spirit beings, members of the coming Kingdom of God. The King of kings, the Messiah, Jesus Christ, will rule the world from Jerusalem. Read the prophecy in Isaiah the second chapter the response of human beings to the new divine government. Isaiah 2:2, “Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many people shall come and say, ‘Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.”

My friends, YOU can have a part in God’s Kingdom. God is calling people to Christ from all nations to be in His Kingdom. That one world government is coming soon. You need to prepare for it. Study your Bible. Visualize the transformed world under the King of kings. Yes, spirit beings will rule the world under the coming Kingdom of God. You can be one of those spirit beings IF you seek that Kingdom as it tells us in Matthew 6:33, and IF you surrender your life to the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ.

The glorious Kingdom of God on earth will produce beauty and productivity the world has never known. God has blessed the earth with awesome, majestic mountains, fertile valleys, and productive plains. We marvel at pristine lakes and churning oceans. We appreciate the variety of flowers, plant life, birds, animals, and sea life. Even the very nature of ANIMALS will change. Isaiah gives us this Millennial vision: [ISAIAH 11:6] “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”

A new world is coming soon! You need to pray, “Your Kingdom come!” You need to be watching the prophetic trends and signs heralding Christ’s return!

Is God Calling Me?

Learn about what it means to be called by God and if maybe you are being called. You may be surprised to learn that God isn’t calling the whole world yet. Watch to find out more.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

A Special Calling From God

Sometimes, it seems the world is coming apart at the seams. It’s easy to wonder where God is in all of this. Does He care? Is He DOING anything?

In fact, yes, He does care, and yes, He is doing something AMAZING—not just in the world, but in the hearts and minds of individual people all over the world.

But what many do not realize is that God is not working with everyone in the same way today. The Bible says He is calling a select few for a special relationship with Him today, and a special role in the years ahead.

You might be one of those people.

Join us today here on Tomorrow’s World as we open up our Bibles and help you answer one of the most important questions you could ever ask yourself: “Is God Calling Me?”

God’s Purpose for Calling You

Greetings, and welcome to Tomorrow’s World, where we help you make sense of your world through the pages of your Bible. Today’s program might seem a little more personal than most of those you’ve seen on our channel. We want to encourage you to ask yourself one of the most important questions you will ever consider: Whether or not God is personally calling you.

You might think, “God is calling EVERYONE, isn’t He?” As we’ll see, the Bible makes it plain that He is not. But then, if He’s not, what is He DOING? Is He only trying to save some and sending the rest off to their doom with no chance for salvation? What does being “called” even mean? On today’s program, we’ll answer these questions and more, and the answers may be the most encouraging news you’ve ever heard.

We’ll also be offering you a free copy of our surprising booklet, What Is a True Christian? So many people sincerely call themselves “Christian,” yet the Bible shows that they don’t fully understand what being a Christian even means. Be sure to watch for the information you need to get your free copy.

Now, before we explain what it means to be “called” by God, I have to warn you. Some of what we’re going to explain—from the pages of your own Bible—will be new to you. In fact, it may contradict things you’ve grown up hearing in church your entire life. But it is the clear witness of the word of God. And to understand what it means to be called by God, and to perceive whether God is calling YOU, we have to begin by clearing away some important MIS-understandings.

For instance, many people seem to view the world around us as an ongoing battle between God and Jesus Christ on one hand and Satan the Devil on the other—where God is trying to save as many as He can before they die and are lost forever, and the Devil is trying to condemn as many as he can.

But, my friends, that idea is utterly FALSE. If it were true—if the world really were a contest between God and the Devil—then be honest with yourself: Wouldn’t you have to conclude that the Devil is winning? Two-thirds of humanity today does not claim to be any part of any of the many flavors of the religion that calls itself “Christianity”—not to mention the vast number who have lived and died throughout history. In fact, most people who have lived and died have never even heard of Jesus Christ. Yet Jesus Christ is the ONLY source of salvation. Speaking of Jesus, the Apostle Peter explains in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

So, if there is a “great contest” between God and the Devil, then God is losing HORRIBLY. However, I GUARANTEE you, God DOES NOT LOSE! Between God and Jesus Christ and Satan the Devil, there is no contest! God NEVER LOSES!

So, what’s going on, then?

If most of the world seems lost and ignorant of the God of the Bible—and it certainly does—should we just assume that God DOESN’T CARE about the world? Does He just NOT CARE about the fact that the vast majority of the BILLIONS of men, women, and children who have lived and died would be lost to damnation in their sins—most of whom never even had the opportunity to hear the name of their Savior spoken aloud in their hearing?

Not on your life! In fact, your Bible says exactly the opposite.

After all, 1 Timothy 2:6 says that Christ gave Himself as a ransom for ALL people. Chapter 4 and verse 10 of the same book proclaims God as the Savior of ALL people. John 3:16—one of the most widely quotes verses of the Bible—states very plainly that “God so loved the WORLD”—the WHOLE world. No matter our race, ethnicity, or nationality, God longs to bring everyone who has ever lived into a beautiful and loving relationship with Him—a relationship in which He will work to fulfill His purpose for us. As Peter says in his second letter, chapter 3 and verse 9, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that ANY should perish but that ALL should come to repentance.”

If so few are finding salvation today, in our time—and so few have even had the OPPORTUNITY to be saved throughout human history—and yet God expresses His passionate desire that, not the few, but the MANY would find Him and be saved—then the conclusion we can draw is clear: God is simply NOT trying to save the WHOLE WORLD right NOW, at this time!

Preparing a Divine Family to Rule

Rather, God says that in this life NOW He is only BEGINNING His harvest of mankind—saving those He calls His “FIRSTfruits.” As James writes in chapter 1 and verse 18 of his book, “Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”

Those firstfruits will be resurrected and glorified when Jesus Christ returns to set up His Kingdom on earth—ruling with Him and restoring the world over the course of 1,000 years. [On screen: Revelation 20:4–6.]

Then, AFTER that thousand-year period, all who have ever lived but who have never had an opportunity to understand the true gospel of God will be [On screen: Revelation 20:11–13] resurrected to physical life once again and will THEN HAVE THEIR OPPORTUNITY to choose God’s way of life and have their names written in the Book of Life. Those who utterly refuse to repent and live God’s way will be [On screen: Revelation 20:14–15] destroyed forever in the Lake of Fire, but the rest will enjoy eternity in the Family of God, forever, to inherit the entire universe!

It is a large topic, and I encourage you to visit the Tomorrow’s World website, where you will find MANY, MANY free materials proving and explaining the beautiful plan of God in detail. We don’t want you to merely take our word for these things—we want you to take GOD’S word for it.

But for now, let’s focus on the specific topic we’re examining TODAY. If God is planning a FUTURE time when salvation will be extended in a way it is not today, then what IS He doing today?

God is calling specific individuals in the world to a special relationship with Him, preparing them for their future place in the Family of God and for their future role, directly ruling the world for 1,000 years under Jesus Christ, reigning over the nations of the world as a king and priest by His side.

Now that truth may shock you, but if you open your Bible, you will see that it has been under your nose the entire time.

For instance, notice the plain words of Jesus Christ in John 6:44: “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

Now my Bible isn’t any different from yours! And Jesus’ words are plain: NO ONE *CAN* come to Jesus Christ UNLESS GOD THE FATHER *CHOOSES* to call him or her at this time! In fact, Jesus reiterates the same point just a few verses later: “And He said, ‘Therefore I have said to you that NO ONE CAN COME to Me UNLESS it has been GRANTED TO HIM by My Father’” (v. 65).

“NO ONE CAN COME to Me UNLESS it has been GRANTED TO HIM by My Father.”

Can Jesus be any PLAINER than that?

Christ is clearly placing the burden of action on God the Father—telling us that it is GOD who must first CHOOSE to actively draw us to Him. In fact, Jesus reflects this same sentiment to His apostles in John 15:16: “You did not choose Me, but I CHOSE YOU….”

Are you willing to listen to the PLAIN TEACHING of the Bible, even when it disagrees with what others say about it, or disagrees with your own preconceived ideas? If so, then, without getting too far ahead of myself, let me say here that THAT is a major indicator that God may be calling you.

These aren’t the only passages that plainly speak of God calling only SOME now and NOT EVERYONE. For instance, consider the famous statement of Acts 2:38, where the Apostle Peter says boldly to the assembled crowd, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, AS MANY AS THE LORD OUR GOD WILL CALL.”

Notice Peter’s plain acknowledgement that the response to his message and the message of the Gospel is dependent on HOW MANY GOD WOULD CHOOSE TO CALL!

Consider Paul’s words to the Church of God in Corinth. He writes to them in 1 Corinthians 1:26, “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.” He points out to them—and us—that God simply ISN’T calling everyone right now! In particular, He is NOT calling many of the wise and mighty of this world. Their time will come later.

Don’t just believe me on this—believe your own eyes and what you see in your Bible!

So, if God is only calling SOME now—calling a special few before Christ’s return—what is His purpose for their lives now? And how can you know if God is calling YOU?

Having Your Mind Opened

So, what does it actually mean to be called by the living God?

There really are a number of things involved, but among them is God’s OPENING A PERSON’S MIND to allow him or her to understand the truth—and not just any truth, but the truth of the Bible and Jesus Christ’s Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

Revelation 12:9 tells us something important about the world. Speaking there of a soon-coming time of divine action against the Devil, it says, “… the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world….” God does not lie in His word. When He says the “whole world” is deceived, He means the WHOLE WORLD.

And those who are deceived DO NOT KNOW THEY ARE DECEIVED! Individuals can hold on to their beliefs very sincerely and still be DEAD WRONG, DECEIVED BY THE DEVIL, and that includes preachers and teachers! Paul speaks in 2 Timothy 3:13 of those who not only deceive others, but who are also deceived THEMSELVES as they do so.

Yet, the Bible describes the 1,000-year reign of the saints under Jesus Christ as a time when the deception will be removed, and His truth will cover the entire world. As God inspired Habakkuk to write of that future time, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea” (2:14). We speak of that glorious time frequently here on Tomorrow’s World.

But before that Millennium of peace, God is calling a few individuals NOW, by opening their minds and allowing them to see the truth about the REAL Jesus Christ, the REAL Gospel of the Kingdom, and the REAL way of life God desires for all people.

In the Bible, we see examples of this OPENING OF THE MIND to UNDERSTAND THE TRUTH. For instance, look at Luke 24, where the resurrected Jesus Christ is explaining to His disciples about how His death and resurrection fulfilled God’s word—something they were not able to grasp before: “Then He said to them, ‘These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.’ And He OPENED THEIR UNDERSTANDING, that they might COMPREHEND THE SCRIPTURES” (vv. 44–45).

Note, He said that He had EXPLAINED THESE THINGS BEFORE, but NOW their UNDERSTANDING WAS OPENED, and it made SENSE like it had not before! Jesus explains in John 14 that God’s Spirit was not yet in them, but it WAS working with them, as it does with all who are being CALLED BY GOD.

And that Spirit is a necessary ingredient for understanding. The Apostle Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 2: “These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man DOES NOT receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor CAN he know them, because they are SPIRITUALLY discerned” (vv. 13–14).

Spiritual things MUST BE spiritually discerned and understood. The purely natural, human mind simply cannot receive them! GOD MUST INTERVENE to help us overcome deception and understand. And this is what He does when He calls us!

So, ask yourself: Do the things you’ve heard us discuss on the Tomorrow’s World program make sense to you? When you read our materials or the Tomorrow’s World magazine and study these things in your Bible, do you find that the Scriptures bear those teachings out and back them up? If so, it may be that God is opening your mind and calling YOU to understand His truth.

But a calling from God is about more than “understanding” things. Our Creator expects us to ACT on what He shows us, and this is part of one’s calling, as well.

Notice, again, the example of God’s calling in Acts 2, when God moved the crowd to respond to Peter’s message: “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we DO?’” (v. 37).

Their response is the response God is looking for when He draws someone: A desire to CHANGE AND ACT! Romans 2:4 tells us that God’s goodness does not just enlighten our minds or make us feel good about ourselves—it leads us to REPENTANCE—to CHANGE OUR WAYS and BEGIN OBEYING GOD’S COMMANDS!

Are YOU being called? Have you ever felt CONVICTED by the things you have learned on this program? That may be God working with you through His spirit to draw you into a new and deeper relationship with Him.

In fact, let me add that there are THOUSANDS all over the world whom God has reached through this Work, whose minds have been opened to the true teachings of Scripture—enjoying each other’s fellowship and meeting together every week to learn from God’s word and from the ministry of Jesus Christ as they prepare to be Kings and Priests in the Kingdom of God.

If you are interested in finding out more about acting on what you’re learning, you’re not alone. And we have representatives in many regions all around the world who would be happy to talk with you.

Those individuals assembling together every week have learned the joy that comes from living life as a TRUE CHRISTIAN.

What Should You Do Now?

God’s plan is big. REALLY big. It encompasses all of mankind—all who have ever lived and breathed, from the beginning of creation to this very moment. It involves a Kingdom He will install at Jesus Christ’s return, that will transform the world over 1,000 years. Even the dead will be raised to life again to have the opportunity they never had in this life.

But that plan involves calling some people NOW, in this life, and opening their minds so that they can escape the deception of the Devil that has been cast over the eyes of the entire world. It involves calling those people to be a part of Jesus’ mission NOW to warn the world of the end times to come and to announce the good news of that coming Kingdom.

That plan involves calling individuals to struggle against sin in THIS life, to allow Jesus Christ to live His life within them and to build His own character in them—so that they can serve beside Him as glorified members of His Family and teach others during those 1,000 years and beyond, helping them to embrace the way of life they have learned to make a part of their OWN hearts and minds.

The question facing you is this: Is God calling YOU?

We’ve explained what that question means, and we’ve shown you how you might know. But in the end, we can’t answer the question for you. That part is up to YOU.

And as you address that question, understand that you are not alone. I’ve been there, myself. I remember wondering about so many things while I was growing up. If Christ is alive and running His Church, then why does Christianity seem to be in such confusion? If Jesus was the only way to salvation, and yet most people have lived and died without even hearing His NAME, let alone His teachings, then how could God be fair or just?

I wanted answers to those questions, and I heard many answers. But, none of them perfectly fit what God had to say in the Bible or how God describes Himself in that same Bible.

That is, none of them made sense until I saw a video, much like this one, presented by Herbert W. Armstrong, a predecessor of ours in this ministry.

And the Bible began to make sense to me in a way it never had before. There WERE answers to my questions—SOLID, BIBLE answers, even though none of the loving and sincere-but-mistaken preachers I knew were teaching those answers.

I came to see that God was calling me to a real relationship with Him and with His Son—not the Devil’s caricature of Jesus Christ, but the REAL Jesus Christ. And I came to see that His calling was not because I was smarter or wiser than everyone else. Quite the opposite. I saw the words of the Apostle Paul we spoke of earlier—that He is not calling many wise or powerful now. Rather, He is calling the base and lowly now so that the wise and powerful may know in the FUTURE that salvation is not a matter of trusting in themselves but trusting in God.

And while I THOUGHT I was a Christian before that calling, I came to learn that being a TRUE Christian was SO VERY DIFFERENT from what I had believed.

My life, ever since, has never been the same. And I would not trade it for the world.

Is God calling you?

I don’t know…What do YOU think?

Is Baptism Required?

God’s True Requirements

Do you feel that your church has left you? That it has moved so far away from what the Bible teaches that you feel as though you are a stranger in a foreign land? Are you seemingly one of the few left who believes in absolute moral truths? Are you out of step with mainstream because you believe God reveals the standards of right and wrong through His book, the Bible? If you answered “yes” to these questions, you are part of a shrinking breed, as modern Christianity moves away from the Bible as its guide.

Dr. George Barna, Director of the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University, revealed these findings in The American Worldview Inventory 2020 regarding American Evangelicals:

The most startling realization regarding the theological reformation in progress is how many people from evangelical churches are adopting unbiblical beliefs….

Perhaps the most alarming of the shifts is that a majority of adults aligned with an evangelical church (52%) contend that there is no absolute moral truth; in their view, truth is uniquely determined by each individual according to their preferences and circumstances. That perspective equates to most evangelicals believing that the Bible is either not inerrant or trustworthy in its content—or that the Bible is neither completely true nor reliable. That stand is a radical and critical departure from the traditional teachings and biblical reliance of evangelicals. (“American Worldview Inventory 2020 Results – Release #11: Churches and Worldview,” Arizona Christian University, November 10, 2020).

The picture is even more bleak among Pentecostals, mainline Christian denominations, and Catholics. What is happening, my friends? And where is this leading?

[Dr. Barna] surveyed 51 beliefs and behaviors among Christian groups and [he] found that rather than transforming the culture around them with biblical truth, the opposite is happening. American Christianity is rapidly conforming to the values of the post-Christian secular culture.

What we see today is a generation that worships a God of their own image, rather than seeing God as He reveals Himself. And does any rational person think that such an idol of the mind can bring life after death? Perhaps you are among the increasing minority who believes that the Bible is God’s instruction book for mankind. If so, this program is for you. While some claim there is nothing you have to do to be saved, on today’s Tomorrow’s World I’ll give you three biblical requirements as explained from the Bible, so stay tuned.

Drifting Away From Core Christian Beliefs?

A warm welcome to all of you joining us [here today] at Tomorrow’s World, where we help you make sense of your world through the pages of the Bible. On this program we will take a look at where truth and morality are heading in our Western world, and what you should do about it.

The Cultural Research Center released these findings about the state of religion in their American Worldview Inventory 2020:

Evangelicals are embracing secularism: 52% of evangelicals reject absolute moral truth; “A majority (61%) do not read the Bible on a daily basis….” The study found that one-third to one-half of evangelicals in the survey embrace a variety of beliefs and behaviors counter to biblical teaching and longstanding Evangelical beliefs (“American Worldview Inventory 2020 Results – Release #11: Churches and Worldview,” Arizona Christian University, November 10, 2020).

The report looked at four different groups. The second one was Pentecostals and charismatics. Regarding this group they reported that:

Two-thirds [that’s 69%] reject absolute moral truth; 54% are unwilling to define human life as sacred, with half claiming the Bible is ambiguous in its teaching about abortion.

It’s difficult to believe that any individuals claiming to be Christian, no matter which group of Christianity they may be roughly placed into, can reject the Bible as their guide to truth. After all, is it not the Bible that informs us about the life of Christ, from which the term Christian is derived? Either the Bible is true or it’s not. And if it’s not reliable, then why pretend to be a believer in it? But when it comes to what are broadly called mainline Protestants, the report found that:

Sixty percent (60%) of mainline Protestants’ beliefs directly conflict with biblical teaching…. truth and morality are relative; life has no inherent value or purpose, so individuals should pursue personal happiness or satisfaction; and traditional religious practices are no longer seen as central or essential to their Christian faith.

It should be obvious by these results that religion in America and in the rest of the Western world is more and more a feel-good exercise with no transcendent value beyond the here and now. So it should not surprise us that people are living their lives for today only, as shown by the report’s analysis of the state of Catholics in America, [who] were similar to mainline Protestants but even less restrained in behavior:

Today’s Catholics are more permissive than other groups, being most likely to accept sexual relations outside of marriage, lying, speeding, and refusal to repay a loan as morally acceptable behaviors.

If you’re discouraged by what you see happening in your denomination, perhaps it’s time to step back and ask some important questions.

Why have you chosen the denomination or church that you have?
Was it because you were born into it?
Was it because it was convenient to where you live?
Was it because there was a wonderful youth program or choir?
Was it because of friends and associates?
What exactly do you believe and why?
And have you been deceived about what God requires of you?

We’ve all seen the bumper sticker with religious symbols spelling out “coexist.” And yes, we need to be at peace with those who believe differently from us, but can all religions be correct? Do all roads lead to the same destination? Think about that. And fundamentally, has God left it up to each of us to decide right and wrong and how He is to be worshiped?

Let’s be honest with ourselves. More and more people who claim to be spiritual today are forming God in their own image. The Bible is no longer the standard of truth. Spirituality has become an exercise in making you feel better about yourself, and for many, religion is no more than entertainment. The Biblical standards of right and wrong have been subjugated to shifting societal trends.

What does a sincere seeker of truth need to do in this current state of affairs? You can’t change the state of the world, but you can make sure you are personally in line with God.

You may have been told, “There is nothing you need to do other than profess Jesus Christ and accept Him as Lord and Savior. It’s ‘all been done for you.’” But is that what the Bible really says? The answer is an emphatic “no”! There is more to professing Jesus Christ as Savior than you may have been told, and I’ll prove that to you in the remainder of this program.

For example, do you realize that Jesus, His Apostles, and others, commanded people to be baptized? Yes, baptism is a requirement given by Jesus, and in the remainder of this program I’ll show you why baptism and two other requirements are so important. But for now, let’s begin with:

Requirement #1: Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins

Even Jesus Was Baptized

For far too many, religion is something that we each make up in our own minds. Instead of looking to God to tell us what He expects of us, we see mere men trying to tell God what He should expect of us. But how can this please God if He truly exists? As Dr. Roderick C. Meredith asks in his treatise, Christian Baptism: Its Real Meaning:

If Jesus and the early Apostles do not represent the “standard “ for true Christianity, then what is that standard? (Christian Baptism: Its Real Meaning, p. 2).

There was once a man named Saul who sincerely thought he was doing right, until God struck him down. He was on his way to persecute Christians at Damascus when a blinding light knocked him to the ground. This was the beginning of a dramatically changed life for the man that was later known as the Apostle Paul. What followed three days later is recorded for our instruction. Still blinded from the light, Saul was visited by a man named Ananias, who was commanded to come to him…

And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and [note this] he arose and was baptized (Acts 9:17–18).

Notice that among other things, Saul submitted himself to the humble ceremony of baptism. We also read of a group of several thousand people who followed the traditions into which they were born, but one day they also had their feet knocked out from under them and their eyes were opened. It was on the Day of Pentecost shortly after the crucifixion of Jesus. God got their attention while they were assembled at the temple in Jerusalem. This was when the Apostle Peter preached a powerful sermon to the Jews. They were looking for the Messiah and Peter convicted them that they’d murdered Him. Notice his words and their response in Acts 2, verses 36 and 37:

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:36–37).

How many people ask themselves that critical question: What shall I do? Have you, my friends? Or have you simply gone along with human traditions—perhaps the religion of your parents, your spouse, or your friends—but never genuinely read the Bible for what it says? Notice Peter’s response in the next verse. Here is what he instructed these people who were convicted of grievous sin…

Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38).

This was a clear command to be baptized, that our sins may be forgiven. So why is it, dear viewers, that some think baptism is unnecessary? Do they not want their sins forgiven? We see that Saul, later known as the Apostle Paul, was baptized. We see from that first Pentecost following the crucifixion that 3,000 people obeyed Peter’s command and were baptized. And further, we see that Jesus Himself was baptized, not because He needed sins forgiven, but to set the example for us.

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.

That’s from Matthew 3:13–15.

Now if Jesus set the example, have you followed His example? Further, we’ve seen that Paul was baptized, that Peter commanded baptism to those present on Pentecost and some 3,000 responded. I could show that Jesus’ disciples baptized more than John the Baptist, that the Ethiopian Eunuch was baptized, and there are many more examples like these.

REPENT and Be Baptized!

Baptism is not something you should view as optional. It is found as a command throughout the New Testament scriptures. But should you run out today and dunk yourself in the river? Or is there more to it?

Perhaps you were baptized as an infant. I was told that I was, though, as with most others, I can’t remember it. Is that what Jesus expects of us? The late Dr. Roderick C. Meredith makes this confession in Christian Baptism: Its Real Meaning:

I was baptized as a helpless little infant—unable even to discern my left hand from my right hand, let alone able to grasp the enormity of sin and deeply repent of my sins and accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. Was I, then, a true Christian? Of course not!

Perhaps you have noticed a word that is closely associated with baptism, so it’s time to look at the second requirement:

Requirement #2: You must repent of your sins

I know that my parents were no doubt sincere when they had me baptized as an infant, but that is simply not what God expects, as anyone who searches the scriptures may discern. An infant cannot meet this requirement to repent of his sins. The reasons behind baptizing infants is another story based on false assumptions and false doctrines, but that’s a whole different subject that I don’t have time to cover on this program. Again, I don’t say this to condemn anyone, but as an act of love to inform you.

Repentance is found throughout the New Testament, but notice once again Peter’s command on the Day of Pentecost as found in Acts 2:38:

Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

And if that is not authoritative enough for some, notice this command to repent from Jesus at the very beginning of His ministry. Notice it in Mark 1:14–15:

Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel” (Mark 1:14–15).

My friends, have you repented of your sins and have you been baptized? If not, why not? And what does it mean to repent of your sins? Many think they know, but they have never looked into the biblical definition of sin. Notice it in 1 John 3 and verse 4. Where it says…

Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4).

Or as the Old King James puts it in a little more archaic language, but in a way that leaves no doubt as to the meaning,

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4, King James Version).

Now why is this important? Few realize today how far Christianity has strayed from that of Jesus, the Apostles, and original Christianity. As I wrote in the November/December 2020 edition of Tomorrow’s World magazine, in an article titled “Should You Recite the Sinner’s Prayer?”,

The drunkard or adulterer may recognize his or her need to say a “Sinner’s Prayer,” but does either one realize that turning around and going in another direction also involves turning away from a false Christianity that has sought to change the laws of God (Daniel 7:25) and has effectively turned “grace “ into an excuse to break God ‘s law (Jude 4)? (Tomorrow’s World, November/December, 2020, p. 27).

So far, we’ve looked at two fundamental truths for those who hope to inherit eternal life.

Requirement #1: Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the of sins

And:

Requirement #2: You must repent of your sins

Neither of these negates grace. But as Paul states in Romans 4:15,

Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression (Romans 4:15, King James Version).

No, the law was never intended to forgive its own transgression. One can never obtain salvation by his own efforts at keeping the law since we all fall short, but does that negate the law? Let’s let the Apostle Paul answer that question. Notice it from Romans 3:31,

Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law (Romans 3:31).

Paul went on to say in the sixth chapter and verse 15…

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! (Romans 6:15).

False ministers have twisted the scriptures, confusing the issue and offering a cheap grace, where nothing is required, where Christ has done it all for you. But notice how Paul describes the purpose of the law:

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20).

No, dear friends, the Bible is clear. We must repent, meaning turn around and go a different direction. There is much more that can be said on this subject, but I want to give you one more requirement, given by Jesus Himself, a requirement that is almost universally overlooked.

Do You Truly Believe—And HOPE—God’s Kingdom WILL COME?

It’s found at the very beginning of Jesus’ ministry. These are the words of Jesus Himself as recorded in Mark the first chapter, and verses 14 and 15…

Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, [and notice this] and believe in the gospel.”

So here we have a third New Testament requirement.

Requirement #1: Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins

Requirement #2: You must repent of your sins

And the third requirement is:

Requirement #3: Believe the Gospel of the Kingdom of God

How many students of the Bible read right over this, without recognizing its importance? Why would Jesus command us to believe a message about the Kingdom of God? And what is the Kingdom of God?

Many think the gospel is a message about Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, but what was His message for three-and-a-half years prior to his death, burial, and resurrection that He preached wherever He went? Notice Luke 4:42–43:

And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them. And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent” (Luke 4:42–43, King James Version).

Time and again, Jesus began a parable by saying something similar to this:

“To what shall I liken the kingdom of God?” (Luke 13:20).

People of His day wondered if He would set up His Kingdom at that time, and the Apostles preached the message of the Kingdom of God after His resurrection. Do you know what that Kingdom is that Jesus preached? And do you deeply believe it?

Many concerned citizens see our world going in a bad direction. Some church-goers see their life-long denominations changing to conform to ever-changing social mores. Perhaps you are one of them but don’t know what to do about it. Now might be a good time to step back and ask yourself: Why do you belong to the denomination or the church that you do? Maybe it is time to actually prove from the Bible what to believe.

If you believe the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, if you have repented of your sins and want to be baptized, we invite you to contact us and ask for a true minister of Jesus Christ to counsel with you about these matters.

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Prophecy You Can Trust

As we experience global pandemic, economic collapse, and increasing international conflict, many sense that we are living in the “time of the end” prophesied in your Bible. Yes, our world has had extreme natural disasters, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, worldwide pandemics, and even world wars.

But did you know that your Bible predicts a new world coming? Yes, a new world government we call “tomorrow’s world.” That world-ruling government will NOT be led by human presidents, dictators, kings, or prime ministers. The new, one-world government will be ruled by a great Spirit being, who even came to earth as the Savior of the world. Yes, the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth will return as King of kings and Lord of lords. How do we know this for sure? We know for sure because you can prove Bible prophecy is powerful and accurate.

According to the Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy, your Bible contains 1,817 predictions about the future. [p. 675] . We know the power and accuracy of those prophecies from the hundreds that have already been fulfilled. In this program we’ll explore amazing prophecies in your Bible that have come to pass in exact detail as prophesied. You can prove the power of prophecy from your own Bible. Stay tuned!

Reliable Predictions of the Coming Messiah

Warm greetings to all our friends around the world.

What an amazing time we are living as we near the end of this troubled age! The world experienced what many called the year to forget, the year 2020! Will there be more forgettable years in 2021, or 2022 and beyond? We’ve experienced a worldwide pandemic, global economic crises, fires, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes that devastated cities and killed hundreds of thousands of people. Not to mention riots, murders, wars, and terrorism around the globe. Nations and corporations are greedily gaining property and power. Cyber terrorism steals valuable technology and industrial secrets.

Where will it all end? Bible prophecy outlines the future of nations. The current chaos will ultimately climax in World War III. The good news is that this will be followed by a new world government called the Kingdom of God. In your Bible, it’s also called “the world to come” (Hebrews 2:5). How can we be so sure? We know the future by the powerful revelation of this book.

One of the most amazing examples of fulfilled prophecy is of the prophesied Messiah. The Old Testament contains more than three hundred references to His coming. Peter Stoner in his book, Science Speaks, examined the probability of one person fulfilling just 48 of those prophecies. For that to happen by chance would be one in ten followed by 157 zeros. As someone calculated, that would be like trying to find one specific electron out of all the electrons in all of the known universe on the first attempt.

And that considers only 48 of the hundreds of Messianic prophecies that were fulfilled. In other words, the prophecies concerning Christ’s first coming could never have been fulfilled by chance. They were powerfully predicted and fulfilled in hundreds of exacting details. Yes, you can trust Bible prophecy! In fact, your life depends on it!

Halley’s Bible Handbook lists several of the Messianic prophecies and their fulfillment in the New Testament. Here are a few.

  • “That He would be born of a Virgin (Matthew 1:15; Isaiah 7:14).
  • That He would be born in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:6; John 7:42; Micah 5:2).
  • That He would sojourn in Egypt (Matthew 2:15; Hosea 11:1).
  • That He would live in Galilee (Matthew 4:15; Isaiah 9:1, 2).
    • At Nazareth (Matthew 2:23; Isaiah 11:1).
  • His Coming would be Announced by an Elijah-like Herald (Matthew 3:3; 11:10-14; Mark 1:2-3; Luke 3:4-6; 7:27; John 1:23; Isaiah 40:3-5; Malachi 3:1; 4:5).
  • That His Ministry would be one of Healing (Matthew 8:17; Isaiah 53:4).
  • Betrayed by a Friend for 30 Pieces of Silver (Matthew 26:31; Mark 14:27; Zechariah 9:9; Psalm 118:26).
  • [And] His Side would be Pierced (John 19:37; Zechariah 12:10; Psalm 22:16).”

(pp. 421-422).

These are just a few of more than 300 prophecies regarding the Messiah that were fulfilled.

Some of you may be familiar with the prophet Daniel’s 70-week prophecy. The Jews of the first-century and the times leading up to the first-century were aware of Daniel’s prophecy. Turn in your Bible to Daniel 9. Here is described the famous prophecy referring to the Messiah’s prophesied appearance. DANIEL 9:24, “Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy” or as other translations such as the NIV and the ESV have it, “the Most Holy place.”

Notice that the Messiah was to make reconciliation for iniquity! Many scriptures show that the Messiah would die for the sins of the world, so we might be forgiven and reconciled to God. John the Baptist testified, referring to Jesus, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). It tells us in Ephesians 1:7, “In Him [the Messiah, Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

Yes, Daniel’s prophecy revealed that one of the major purposes of the Messiah, was to make reconciliation for iniquity. My friends, you can be forgiven for all your sins through the blood of Christ. But there are requirements as Jesus Himself made clear. He said, “Repent, and believe in the gospel.” That’s in Mark 1:15. Then the Apostle Peter told the masses of people on the Day of Pentecost, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38).

My friends, some of you may have come to the point in your life where you are repentant, you want to be forgiven of your past sins and change your life. We have ministers in many parts of the world who will answer your questions and even give counsel concerning baptism. Just call the number on the screen or contact us at TomorrowsWorld.org.

Prophetic Timing of Jesus’ Life and Ministry

In the first part of our program, we saw marvelous fulfilled prophecies of the Messiah, the first coming of Jesus Christ to this earth. But WHEN was the Messiah predicted to begin His ministry? Daniel’s 70-weeks prophecy reveals the answer. A day in prophecy is equal to a year in fulfillment. Since there are 69 weeks from Daniel’s prophecy leading up to the Messiah, there are 69 weeks times 7 days per week or 483 prophetic years. But when did the prophecy begin? Many scholars refer to the decree of Artaxerxes in Ezra 7:11-28, which was given historically in 457 BC. Moving forward 483 years from BC to AD, we subtract 457 from 483 and come to what appears to be 26 AD. However, since there is no year zero, going from BC to AD mathematically requires adding one year. Thus, the Messiah was to begin His ministry in 27 AD.

How old was Jesus when He began His ministry? Just after John baptized Jesus in the Jordan River, the gospel writer Luke writes in chapter three, verse 23, that “Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age.” So, when was Jesus born? If we subtract 30 years of age from 27 AD, we come to 4 BC, since there is no year zero.

Yes, Christ fulfilled Daniel’s prophecy, to the exact year, to make reconciliation for iniquity! As we’ve seen, the Messiah fulfilled major aspects of Daniel’s 70 weeks prophecy. But there remain other aspects for Him to complete. For example, Daniel 9:24 predicts three more missions yet future. The Messiah, Jesus Christ, when He returns, will continue fulfilling the following prophecies: “To bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy” or as some translations have it, the Most Holy Place, referring to the Millennial Temple in Jerusalem described in Ezekiel chapters forty through forty-three. The late evangelist, Dr. Roderick Meredith describes the Millennial mission of Christ in his inspiring booklet that we are offering today, Prophecy Fulfilled: God’s Hand in World Affairs. Be sure to order your free copy.

Now, let’s consider another of God’s great interventions and the fulfillment of major biblical prophecy. Almighty God declares through the prophet Isaiah, “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure’” (Isaiah 46:9-10).

That’s why we can have confidence in the ultimate future, the future we call tomorrow’s world. That’s the time when Christ will rule all nations and bring worldwide peace and prosperity. Great empires rise and fall. Did God predict the fall of Babylon the Great? The greatest empire of its time was Babylon. Yet, Bible prophecy foretold that this great power would punish other nations as a judgment from God. And then Babylon itself would be judged for its sinfulness.

More than 100 years before the overthrow of the great Babylonian empire, the prophet Isaiah named the very man who would be responsible for Babylon’s fall. Let’s read it here in ISAIAH 44:28. God “says of Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd, and he shall perform all My pleasure, saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,” and to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”’” Cyrus was king over the Persians from about 558 BC to 529 BC. So, Isaiah is prophesying in the eighth century BC about a king who wasn’t even born until the sixth century BC!

But not only did Isaiah foretell Cyrus by name; he also foretold just HOW Cyrus would enter Babylon to conquer it. This is an amazing story. Turn to ISAIAH 45:1. Cyrus was instrumental in allowing the Jews to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. Here, God proclaims that He will use Cyrus in a special way. ISAIAH 45:1, “Thus says the LORD to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held— to subdue nations before him and loose the armor of kings, [Listen to this!] to open before him the double doors [or two leaved gates—KJV], so that the gates will not be shut: ‘I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you BY YOUR NAME, am the God of Israel.’”

The reference to the “double doors” shows how God opened the way for Cyrus’s army to capture the city. The city of Babylon seemed impregnable with massive walls and defenses. And the city had supplies that could out-last a 20-year siege. So the Babylonians just laughed at Cyrus’s army when they came to attack the city.

The river Euphrates passed through the middle of Babylon under the massive gates in its wall. Cyrus used an ingenious method to circumvent this obstacle. Some of his men dug channels upstream to divert the flow of the river.

Prophecy and the Historical Record

The secular Greek historian Herodotus also wrote of the event. Cyrus and his non-combatant troops “so greatly reduced the depth of water in the actual bed of the river that it became fordable, and the Persian army, which had been left at Babylon for the purpose, entered the river, now only deep enough to reach about the middle of a man’s thigh, and, making their way along it, got into the town.… The Babylonians themselves say that owing to the great size of the city the outskirts were captured without the people in the centre knowing anything about it; there was a festival going on, and they continued to dance and enjoy themselves, UNTIL they learned the news the hard way. That, then, is the story of the first capture of Babylon” (Herodotus, Histories, Book One, sections 191-192).

Yes, the secular historian Herodotus confirms, as do other sources such as Xenophon’s Cyropaedia—Bible prophecy was dramatically and accurately fulfilled!

The prophet Daniel was in the city of Babylon the night the Persian army of Cyrus conquered the city. And, through the prophet Daniel, God also let King Belshazzar know what would happen to him and the empire. That’s the famous story of the “handwriting on the wall.” You can read about it in the book of DANIEL, chapter FIVE. King Belshazzar prepared a feast, a great party, for thousands of his nobles. They drank wine out of the plundered golden vessels from the Temple in Jerusalem. DANIEL 5:5, “In the same hour the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.”

The prophet Daniel was called upon to interpret this inscription in Babylon. A mysterious hand had written a message on the wall. DANIEL 5:25, “And this is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.” Daniel then told King Belshazzar, verse 26, “This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.” Then verse 30, “That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.” Yes, the Kingdom of the Medes and Persians replaced the kingdom of Babylon, just as God predicted.

Dr. Roderick Meredith summarizes this amazing fulfillment of prophecy in the free resource we’re offering today: “Look at what historians know about the events that took place around 539 BC, when Cyrus conquered Babylon, an ‘impregnable’ city-fortress renowned throughout the earth for its power. Unable to surmount the massive fortified walls around Babylon, which had repelled so many other invaders, Cyrus’ men diverted the Euphrates River, which normally flowed under the heavy city water gates as it passed through the city. By lowering the river level and by having a spy unlock the inner gates along the river, Cyrus’ army invaded the city in a totally unexpected manner and took the Babylonians by complete surprise. Was God surprised? No. He had described nearly 200 years earlier how a leader specifically named ‘Cyrus’ would conquer great kings by going through ‘the double doors’! Soon after this, Cyrus issued the order to allow the Jews to voluntarily return to their homeland and Jerusalem, and—in another remarkable fulfillment of prophecy—instructed them to rebuild the temple (Ezra 1:2–4; 6:2–5).” (Prophecy Fulfilled: God’s Hand in World Affairs, p. 20).

Even now, God is intervening to guide nations and peoples. Dr. Meredith describes how God saved English naval forces by using the power of weather: “In 1586–87, Catholic domination of the English throne was made impossible by the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots. The following year, Spain’s King Philip II unleashed his ‘invincible’ 124-ship Armada against England in an effort to reassert Catholic control. Though the English naval forces tenaciously fought, eventually they exhausted their gunpowder! At that critical point, an unprecedented gale-force wind arose and drove many of the heavily armed, lumbering Spanish galleons to their doom. The weather-beaten ships that limped home to Spain were so damaged that many could never again be used” (ibid., p. 16).

Yes, God intervenes in weather to fulfill His plans: “He uses this power on occasion to intervene in human affairs: ‘As when You break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind’ (Psalm 48:7)…. Queen Elizabeth, commemorating the Spanish defeat, issued a silver medal, bearing the inscription: ‘God blew and they were scattered.’ She knew who took charge of those winds at that critical hour in the history of her people!” (ibid.).

A Prophetic Kingdom Sure to Come

More than 300 prophecies detailed the future birth, life, and ministry of Jesus Christ. And God has revealed through His prophecies the Good News of His coming Kingdom. In one of the most familiar prophecies of the Messiah, the prophet Isaiah describes both the first coming of Christ and the establishment of His Kingdom at His Second Coming. Isaiah 9:6, “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

Yes, of the “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.” My friends, the time is growing short! We are in the prophetic time of the end, waiting for Jesus Christ to return soon and establish His everlasting government. He will save our world from total extinction and cosmocide. He will bring lasting peace to the earth and all nations. My friends, you need to prepare for His coming Kingdom. Slaves of "Freedom"!

Rule Britannia! has been the subject of much controversy, but just how truthful are the words in question? Will Britain never, never, never be slaves? The Bible has the answer, watch now to learn more!

[The text below represents an edited transcript of this Tomorrow’s World program.]

Introduction: Are You a Slave?

The word Prom in North America refers to an important high school dance at the end of each school year, but “proms” has a very different meaning on the other side of the Atlantic. The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts (better referred to simply as, “the Proms”) are held over an eight-week period each summer, but controversy was stirred up regarding the BBC Proms this past September over the British patriotic anthem, Rule Britannia. Why? There is more to this story than meets the eye, and the implications go far beyond the British Isles and touch every living person on planet earth. What is it that virtually everyone is missing? What is the real story behind Rule Britannia that you will not read in your daily papers? My friends, you need to know!

On today’s Tomorrow’s World program, I’ll explain what this controversy is all about, and what it means for you, no matter where you live.

Rule Britannia!: Britain’s Past and Future Hopes?

A warm welcome to all of you from those of us here at Tomorrow’s World. On today’s program, I’ll be explaining a controversy that emerged this past summer that few outside of Britain even know about, and I’ll show how it’s significant for everyone in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, and it will touch all lives far beyond these nations. And I’ll be offering you a free DVD, “The Rise and Fall of Britain and America.”

These daily classical music concerts referred to as the proms, are sponsored by the BBC and broadcast to millions at indoor and outdoor settings around the world, but most notably at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory are sung with great fanfare on the last night—not so in 2020. How fitting for a year that has seen so much controversy and conflict.

As it turned out, both WERE played AND sung by a limited, self-distancing orchestra and choir. The usual Royal Albert Hall audience was missing, but not elsewhere, where it was beamed live to millions. Nevertheless, some controversy was stirred over whether these patriotic anthems are suitable for Britain. As The Guardian wrote:

“The core of the story is: the Sunday Times reported that some people at the BBC held discussions about whether both Rule, Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory… could be played as part of Last Night of the Proms. After some very mild consideration, the BBC announced that yes, they could” (“This phoney war over Last Night of the Proms is everything we deserve,” The Guardian, August 25, 2020).

The coronavirus was the reason given for possibly dropping both anthems from the program, but many suspect there was far more behind it. While extremely popular among most Brits, others want Rule Britannia silenced forever, seeing it as representing Britain’s former slave trade and colonial past. Of course, it was Britain who ended slave trade.

Rule Britannia began as a poem co-written by James Thomson and David Mallet, and later set to music by composer Thomas Arne in the year 1740.

“The song has military connections, particularly with the Royal Navy, made evident by the words ‘Britannia, rule the waves’. However, according to Classic FM, when the piece was first written it was not celebrating naval success but instead ‘a cry for help’ as the Royal Navy at that time did not have much control over the seas, while other countries were establishing empires. The song became more patriotic in the 1800s when the British Empire expanded across more of the world” (“Rule Britannia lyrics: The meaning and origins of the song, and the controversy over the Last Night of the Proms explained,” Inews.co.uk, September 12, 2020).

The article goes on to explain a subtle change from Thomson’s poem, “Rule, Britannia! Rule the waves” (expressing a hope to do so), to the later “Rule Britannia! Britannia rules the waves” (expressing mission accomplished as Britain grew in power). Another change is found in the second line of the refrain. Thomson’s poem was written: “Britons never will be slaves,” but was changed to “Britons, never, ever, ever, will be slaves,” and still later to the current version:

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves

And then the refrain is enthusiastically repeated:

Rule Britannia
Britannia rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves

This reference to never being slaves is open to interpretation in our politically correct environment. Britain was involved with the slave trade, and some interpret the last line to mean that, while Britons traded in slaves, in contrast, they would never become as those slaves. But this can be understood totally apart from the slave trade as though Britain would never be conquered by other powers. For example, in the modern context, when you see Nigel Farage lustily singing those words, you have little doubt that he means Britons never, never, never shall be slaves of the European Union.

You don’t have to be British to be emotionally stirred by the patriotic strains of “Rule Britannia!” The grandeur of the refrain is moving and plays to the human desire for greatness and independence. Words on paper fall woefully short of stirring the emotions to the degree the same words do when set to music, but either way, words should be weighed and understood.

It’s not the purpose of this Tomorrow’s World program to take sides on the Prom controversy. We’ll leave that to the Sunday Times and the British tabloids. Instead, I’ll explain what you will never read in the papers and what no one else is seeing.

Sin as the Ultimate Enslavement

We’re looking at the significance of the patriotic song itself. What is it that journalistic opinion will never tell you? What is it that you need to know about this anthem no matter where you live?

As explained in the previous portion of this program, the following line is repeated twice in the refrain:

Rule Britannia!
Britannia rule the waves
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

There’s no doubt that Britain ruled the waves during the nineteenth and first half of the twentieth centuries. It was through their dominant navy and the armies it transported that they controlled so many lands and peoples that it could be rightfully stated that the sun never set on the British Empire—an amazing feat for a group of small island nations off the northwest coast of Europe.

However, the part of the refrain, “Briton’s never, never, never shall be slaves” belies the truth. Britons have been and currently are slaves. And so are Americans, Canadians, Filipinos, and all other peoples. How so, you may ask?

As with Britain and our whole world, we can read of another nation that was blind to their servitude. The account is found in that book of all books, where Jesus told the Jews of His day,

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” [They answered Him…] “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?” [Jesus answered them…] “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin’” (John 8:32–34).

Jesus introduced a concept so foreign to those of His day that they could not comprehend it. It’s no different today. Britons are every bit as much slaves as the Jews of Jesus’ day, and they’re not alone. Our whole world is blind to the bondage in which we are held.

What did Jesus mean when He spoke those words? What is the relationship between sin and slavery?

The epic movie, “The Ten Commandments,” plays every year on television around the time the world knows as Easter. The logic behind this is obvious in that it was at this time of year when Moses led the children of Israel out of Egyptian slavery. Easter is never mentioned in the movie as it has nothing to do with the Exodus and is nothing more than the name of a pagan fertility goddess. This explains the association of that holiday with eggs, rabbits, and lilies—all fertility symbols. The word Easter is only found in the King James Version of the Bible and only once, and it’s agreed upon by all scholars that it is a mistranslation of the word for Passover. The true Biblical story, as portrayed in the movie, was about Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread.

The Exodus was the time when a slave people were set free from harsh bondage. They were protected by the blood of a lamb surrounding the doors of their homes when death passed over them. But they were not free from slavery until they did their part by walking out of Egypt, something that took seven days and the miracle of the Red Sea. During that seven- day escape from Egyptian bondage, they didn’t have time to let their bread rise, but ate unleavened, or flat, bread. The Bible shows that leavening typified sin and Egypt was a symbol of both sin and bondage, thus making the connection between sin and bondage, but today, instead, we call it addiction.

Addiction comes in many forms. Sexual behaviors outside of marriage quickly become bad habits from which it is difficult to free oneself, even though the results are often diseases (some of which are life threatening), unwanted pregnancies also, and broken marriages that leave spouses devastated and children confused and often in poverty.

Addicted to Sin, Slaves to Unrighteousness

Britons proclaim they “never, never, never shall be slaves” but as we’re seeing, they already are slaves to sin, and sin truly is bondage. The tobacco industry once portrayed smoking as something that cool people do, but what is the result? People shortly become addicted to nicotine and are enslaved to a nasty habit that offers a variety of cancers, emphysema, heart disease, wrinkled skin, stained teeth, and nasty breath. Millions who think they can quit anytime find it difficult to break the enslaving habit, and many die miserable deaths as a result. Smoking today has diminished in our Western world, only to be replaced with vaping—something that is also addictive and not without risks.

Many Britons, Americans, Australians, Canadians, and people of all nations are slaves of alcohol, recreational drugs, a lack of self-control, telling lies, stealing, and gossiping. These are all addictive behaviors with negative consequences. Again, instead of calling these actions bondage, we refer to them as bad habits and addictions. It’s human nature to think we are in control of our lives. Just as the Jews of Jesus’ day could not see they were in bondage, so people today are blind to who and what controls them.

The biblical Apostle Paul equated sin with slavery and death in Romans 6:16:

“Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?” (Romans 6:16).

But what is sin? Many agree that using enslaving recreational drugs and dabbling in pornography are sins, but why? Who determines the definition of sin? Is it not God? And if not God, then who has the authority to determine what is and what isn’t sin? Do you know God’s definition of sin? It’s found in 1 John 3, verse 4:

“Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4).

[Or as the older King James Version puts it…]

“… sin is the transgression of the law.”

This broadens the definition of sin beyond drunkenness, sexual immorality, or murder. It’s not difficult to see that some sins are harmful addictions, but other sins bring about more subtle, but not less painful, enslavement.

The first four of the Ten Commandments define our relationship with God and when they are violated, they enslave us to painful doctrines and ideas. If we substitute other gods for the true God, if we limit His power by shaping Him with cheap plastic or even precious stones, if we disrespect His name and character, or if we rebel by choosing our day of worship over the day He set aside; we open ourselves to a host of wrong ideas.

For example, is believing that a lost loved one is currently suffering in hellfire any less mentally enslaving than suffering from an incurable disease? Not knowing the true God of creation, most people live only for today and do little to prepare for eternity. And instead of knowing God’s wonderful plan for mankind through His ordained Holy Days, people substitute pagan days and slap Christ’s name on them. These sham celebrations, no matter how sincerely held, leave people in the dark about God’s Plan for mankind.

That the days people observe come from heathen origins and therefore obscure the truth, is without question. These compromises open the door to a host of wrong doctrines. As Eerdman’s Handbook to the History of Christianity explains:

“When in 321 Constantine made the first day of the week a holiday, he called it ‘the venerable day of the Sun’ (Sunday)…. The Christian church took over many pagan ideas and images. From sun-worship, for example, came the celebration of Christ’s birth on the twenty-fifth of December, the birthday of the Sun. Saturnalia, the Roman winter festival of 17-21 of December, provided the merriment, gift-giving and candles typical of later Christmas holidays” (p. 131).

Few people understand how contrary to true doctrine these compromises with paganism truly are and how empty they leave one in the end. The erroneous doctrines the Jews were steeped in during Jesus’ day were different from professing Christianity, but both are equally enslaving. How many comprehend Jesus’ declaration,

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

Mankind’s ideas of freedom are deceptions. How many professing Christians maintain that to keep the law of God is bondage? And yet, James calls it the perfect law of liberty that we will be judged by, and John tells us,

“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3).

And Peter warns against those who give a false hope of liberty:

“While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage” (2 Peter 2:19).

Conclusion: How Can You Be Made Free?

As we have seen on today’s program, not only the British, but all nations and races are enslaved by sin. Yet there is another more traditional kind of slavery on the horizon that the British descended nations such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, along with the United States, need to be aware of. The refrain, “Briton’s never, never, never shall be slaves” is sadly untrue, nor is America going to be great again. We have forgotten our heritage. We no longer know our roots and we have forgotten our God. As the prophet Isaiah records in chapter 1,

“The ox knows its owner and the donkey its master’s crib; but Israel does not know, My people do not consider.” Alas, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a brood of evildoers, children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked to anger the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away backward (Isaiah 1:3–4).

Because we have forgotten our God, our God will forget us. Many prophecies show that the British descended peoples will indeed be slaves, as explained in today’s free DVD—“The Rise and Fall of Britain and America.”

Notice this remarkable prophecy for both Israel (that is ten of Jacob’s twelve sons and their descendants) and Judah (that is the Jews). The time is at the time when Christ returns, as seen in the reference to David being resurrected:

“‘For behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the LORD…. Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah…. ‘For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it. “For it shall come to pass in that day,” says the LORD of hosts, “that I will break his yoke from your neck, and will burst your bonds; foreigners shall no more enslave them. But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up for them. Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,” says the LORD, “nor be dismayed, O Israel; for behold, I will save you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity”’” (Jeremiah 30:3–4, 7–10).

This is clearly speaking of these days. As verse 24 explains,

“… In the latter days you will consider it” (Jeremiah 30:24).

It’s difficult to understand how the English and American peoples can be physically enslaved in our current context, but don’t dare think it cannot happen. Twice in the last century these nations were knocked back on their heels. We have witnessed in 2020 just how fast our world can change and the Bible describes greater natural disasters, disease pandemics, and divisions within nations that can change circumstances overnight. What God has prophesied will come to pass. The patriotic refrain, “Briton’s never, never, never shall be slaves” is simply wrong. And the slogan “Make America Great Again” is equally wrong. We are already slaves to our sinful ways, and we will be physical slaves in the not very distant future unless we repent, unless we turn around and go another direction.

But there is good news as the previous passage of scripture shows. We will be saved out of it. As God explains through the prophet Hosea,

“I will return again to My place till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; in their affliction they will earnestly seek Me. Come, and let us return to the LORD; for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up” (Hosea 5:15; 6:1).

And for the other nations of the world, don’t think that these future events will happen in a vacuum. The whole world is in for a very rough time until we learn a very painful lesson. Yes there is good news in the end, but how much better if all people everywhere were to turn to God. But sadly, we do not see that happening, but each of us individually can turn to God wholeheartedly while there is still time.
